They say the darkness is temporary,
That the sun will rise,
And it will all get better,
But that's in their eyes.
My eyes see something else,
A world plagued with hate,
Evil and darkness and death,
Where demons lie in wait.
They say that I am bent not broken,
I shake my head no,
I am snapped in half,
Broken by blow after blow.
The other toss their head in glee,
But certainly not me,
My smile has been locked up,
And no one can find the key.
They say the darkness is temporary,
That the sun will rise,
And it will all get better,
But that's in their eyes.
