Times get hard,
people struggle
and constantly get put on the spot.
I'm going to wear the biggest smile
even though I want to cry.
I'm going to fight to live
even though I'm destined to die.
And even though it's hard
and I may struggle through it all.
You may see me struggle...
but you will NEVER see me fall.

Hard winds behind me,
my heart fills with glee.
The hooves thundering past,
to describe me, say fast.
My one sanctuary is freedom,
from ahead I lead them.
My faithful rider ushers me on,
and whistles form a song.
The checkered flag awaits me,
I have proved I am gutsy.
Will you be my challenger,
my win will be so spectacular.
The swoosh of air awaits me,
as I leap, nimble as a flea.
Oh, as the checkered flag flares,
no other victory compares.
I then flex my ears,
to hear the crowds wild cheers.

the eternal optimist,
the water licking my hooves.
the ocean ; a thing of wonder
oh how it shifts and moves.
tidal pools slide in and then out,
small things shimmer away.
the frothy bubbles meet sand,
and I feel upon my face a spray.
slowly inhaling and exhaling,
letting salty aroma enfold me.
drifting away from consciousness,
i feel myself drift out to sea.
as the waves lull me far far away,
I know that this is my home.
a place of freedom, and of peace,
I now see the sun leave to roam.
The sliver of numb gold slowly fades,
until the sky in a muted blue.
Stars shine like minnows flashing,
I watch the sea churn, and brew,
The recipe for perfection it is called,
and I have no doubts whatsoever.
I will sip from this fountain of youth,
and find myself quite clever.
That the secret of the sea is mine,
the eternal optimist.

God made a beatous garden
With lovely flowers strown,
But one straight, narrow pathway
