His funny Story: Mír loved to postulate about how old and wise he was at the ripe old age of two-and-a-half, especially when he rattled off a spiel of any and all (and only
mostly invented) facts to impress the younger, more impressionable members of the herd. One day, when he and his little group of fillies and colts had strayed a little further from the herd than usual, one of the fillies suddenly baulked, leaping backwards with a shrill whinny.
'What?!' snapped Mír, who was in the middle of a rather entertaining tale about a giant equid-eating dragon.
'It's quicksand!' said the filly, gesturing with her tail towards the patch of ominous-looking sand in front of her.
'Don't be ridiculous,' he retorted. 'Quicksand is never yellow.'
Throwing his head in the air with a harrumph, Mír trotted airily onto to the patch of sand in question.
That'll show them, he thought to himself, smugness radiating from every pore and follicle of his fur, feeling his hooves descend towards the soft yellow sand and...
sink?!Mír uttered a panicked neigh to the throng of foals standing around him, his tail lashing wildly as he tried to free himself.
'Help me, you idiots! I'm sinking!'
Mír imagined monstrous hands made of sand grabbing at him, the quicksand laughing as it sucked him under and kept him there forever.
'You guys!?'
A dark-coated filly, the same filly from before, simply gestured to his hooves.
'Oh.'
Mír's hooves were just visible under the quicksand, resting on what seemed to be ...the bottom of the puddle. The quicksand wasn't sucking him in at all. It seemed to lap happily at his fetlocks without wanting to draw him in further.
Two and a half years later, not exactly a lot has changed about the stallion, but you can still make him cringe by reminding him of the time he wasn't quite the know-it-all he thought himself to be.
