show name: TTT Coraline
barn name: Cora, Kora
gender: Mare
halter color: Like her eyes, with as close to a moth as you can get on there xD
first experience:
Kora snorted indignantly, angered at the ignorance of her mother, who was completely oblivious to her. She tried everything, grasping her mother's tail between her small teeth and pulling, jumping up and down, trumpeting her unhappiness as loud as her little lungs could. Still, her mother wouldn't even spare a mere glance in her general direction, too busy chewing the soft spring grass while half-asleep. The elder mare, finally annoyed with her foal's immature antics, blocked Kora off.
Kora snorted unhappily, turning around to gaze at the purple horizon and empty, rolling fields and hills ahead of her. She'd never met another tolter besides her mother, so being alone and ignored was normal for her. Stretching across the hills was a sickly forest, the willowy branches and dark trunks the perfect slate for many tales of horrible horse-devouring creatures. She'd always been told never to enter there, for whatever being lurked in those shadows wasn't very hospitable.
Of course, she did what any rebellious young foal would do.
Kora trodded carefully through the damp, dim woods. Despite looking fragile, the boughs and tree limbs that crawled through the sky above her were rather sturdy. It was quite nice, and little details like the soft moss that hung down and little budding plants made it seem... calming, in a way. Even a stark, moonlit moth fluttered about, which Kora decided to follow.
The moth led her through strange tunnels and places she'd never thought she'd go, leaving a sense of adventure sparking. Laughing, Kora trotted after the moth, straight through a tight clump of vegetation and into a shrouded clearing. Kora was too busy admiring the space to notice her bug guide fluttering off, leaving her behind, alone.
Suddenly, all the fun and adventure seemed to be sucked right out of there, replaced by fear. Kora began noticing how the crooked branches reached towards her, the chilling wind whispering threats in her young ears before dragging its icy words away. The sky was devoid of clouds, dark creeping up. The sun was setting, and she was completely lost. Instead of trying to find her way back, she lay down, whimpering and shivering sadly. She closed her blue eyes, the only light left in the dim, hellish trap. It would snow soon, and her white coat would never be found.
Crunch. Crunch. Frozen grass near Kora compressed under the hooves of another creature. Kora stood completely still, until the creature nudged her. With the last of her energy she leapt up to face the animal, ears and teeth bared- only to see it was a tolter like her, a mare. Without looking back, the silver mare jumped away with moth-like Grace, trotting steadily down a hidden path. Something compelled Kora to follow, so she did.
The mare, without saying a word, led her through many paths not seen by many. The dark held back, seeming like it was waiting to make sure she reached her destination in good condition. Soon, the boughs of tall trees thinned and they emerged back in the field with Kora's dam, the ground now blanketed in fresh snow. Kora heaved a sigh of relief and began to trot towards her mum, when a quiet whisper sounded from behind her.
"Come back, Coraline."
Kora whirled around, but the silver mare had vanished, leaving nothing but the wind's whisper. Shaking her head of foolish thoughts she trotted back to her anxious mother, who whinnied a frantic call upon sighting her young foal. As the sun finally set and the moon began to rise, Kora relaxed by her dam, curling up next to her and sighing asleep.
And high above, the silver moth flew.
