~ FIRST TOUCH ~

The rider had been walking past the latest batch of Neras to arrive and she'd slowly come to a stop in front of one of the Valentine's Day stalls. She couldn't stop staring at the animal inside. Meanwhile, a dispute was being raged inside her.

"It's pink?" her brain shouted.
"But...she's so pretty?" the heart argued back.
"It's still pink!" the brain argued back.
"There's purple as well?" the heart pouted.

Each time one or the other made their point, the poor conflicted rider took a step closer to the stall. It was like she had no control over herself.

"It's really pink?" the brain commented, hoping to make the rider see sense.
"Look at those puppy eyes, can you really say no to that face?" the heart pouted back.

By then, the rider had arrived at the stall gate. She slowly reached out her hand and touched the Neravontii, she felt a soft wet nose under her hand. That was the exact moment her heart said the one thing guaranteed to make her decide.

"She's a Sabino..." it whispered. And the rider caved. She turned around and walked straight back to the adoption office and practically threw her payment at the poor person behind the desk. "Here's my payment, take it, I have to have #154!"

The poor staff member looked like they were facing down a crazy person, which I guess they were, she thought. And when they came back with the adoption certificate, she grabbed it out of their hands and made a run for it.

When she got back to the stall, the Nera was waiting for her, and she had literally never seen such a look, it was hald smugness, and half puppy eyes. The rider just shook her head and covered her face. "OMG, how can you be giving me puppy eyes?!" she felt like shouting. "You don't even have eyes, but you're still giving me puppy eyes?"

"Oh, who cares, I don't, I love you to bits and I'm going to take you home!" she reached over and started scratching under the females chin, and then her other hand found that sweet spot between it's ears and the Neravontii practically melted in her hands.

The rider opened the gate and started to lead her new girl out when she spotted something..."OMG, you have a heart on your coat?" she stared at the adorable little white heart, and felt her own heart melt for this lovely sweet girl.

"You're coming with me, Venus, you're going to love it there, you'll have lots of admirers." she smiled as she led the Nera home.

~ FIRST SADDLE ~

"Hey, pretty girl, how are you doing?" The red-head asked as she walked into the paddock where Venus was waiting for her. "Today's the day, we're gonna see if this saddle fits you ok, how does that sound?" She smiled at the pink Neravontii who came trotting over to see her.

She picked up the saddle from the ground where she'd set it while closing the gate again, and beckoned Venus over to her side. Once Venus was settled next to the fence, her rider tied her in place (purely so she didn't wander off with a half-attached saddle) and set about getting the saddled in place.

Venus was her usual "clingy" self, trying to lick her rider, then using one "hand" to play with her hair, leaning all over her. There was no such thing as personal space with Venus, her rider realised very quickly.

It didn't take long to get Venus saddled. Far less time than any of her other boys, the females were much more accommodating when it came to being saddled, for which she was grateful. Soon she was looking even more pretty with her shiny new saddle all settled into place and buckled up.

"Don't you just look as pretty as a princess," she smiled as she admired her handiwork. "All shiny and beautiful, especially with the jeweled halter." She stood back and watched as Venus took a lap around the field, showing off to the other Neras.

~ FIRST RIDE ~

The rider called Venus back over to where she was standing next to the fence, "if you're finished showing off, how about we actually go for a ride?" she asked the pink Neravontii.

Venus bouncedmon all four feet with excitement. "I mean, you're all nicely saddled, seems a shame to waste a perfectly good day." We won't go far, maybe just ride around the field a bit, see how you like it?"

Venus was clearly happy with this idea, she started bumping her rider toward the fence so she could climb it. "Ok, ok, I can see you're agreeable with the idea!" she laughed as she hopped up into the saddle.

"Right then, let's go show the boys how it's done, shall we?" she petted Venus on the neck as they started off at a trot around the field. Each time they came to one of the other Neravontii, Venus would do a turn around them, as if to show off how well she could ride, and how pretty she looked.

As they made their rounds, each Nera started following them, until, by the time they got back to the gate, it looked like a very colourful conga line, and when the red-head looked behind them, she couldn't help but laugh when she saw their trail of followers.
