~ FIRST TOUCH ~

The young woman had noticed the pretty light brown mare a few times as she'd walked through the stables, noticing the beautiful jewelry-like markings on her face and hands that was almost bioluminescent, and each time she had wondered why no one had adopted the pretty delicate looking female.

Finally, one afternoon, she stopped and looked at the adoption form next to the stall. She muttered to herself as she read through the notes.

"Infertile...genetic...inherited" she looked at the lovely mare who had wandered over to get a closer look at the rider. "Oh, you are just the prettiest little lady, aren't you, what a pity you can't breed, you would make the loveliest babies."

"I guess that must be why no one has claimed you yet," she reached out and gave the Nera a scratch behind her soft fluffy ears. "Well, don't you worry, you're coming home with me, I know just the Nera to be your bestie, he's a bit of a stubborn-head as well," she smiled as the mare leaned in to her scratching.

~ FIRST SADDLE ~

"Shhhhhhh," the young rider made soothing noises as she slipped the bridle gently over Lumina's head and tightened the straps. "It's ok, you're ok, nothing will hurt you." She kept up the soothing words as she stroked the mares neck.

"You're alright," she continued stroking until the mare settled again, then she leaned down to pick up the saddle lying on the ground, resting it on her hip as she got into position.

Lumina's ears flicked back and forth as she waited for whatever was going to happen, to happen. So the rider hoisted the saddle up as quickly and gently as she could and grabbed at the straps before the mare knew what the weight on her back was. All the while she kept up the soothing sounds and the gentle stroking.

When all the straps and buckles were sorted, she gave the Nera one last pat and took a step back to survey her handiwork. "Aren't you beautiful," she gushed as she looked her newest herd member. "The others will be jealous," she laughed as she gave Lumina a quick scratch behind the ears.

~ FIRST RIDE ~

Lumina was having the time of her life! She'd been leaning to get used to the new saddle her small rider needed and after weeks of training, she had finally been allowed out of the stables.

She'd woken that morning and seen the sun shining, she knew today would be the day and she could barely hold her excitement.

Her poor rider had a devil of a time getting the saddle on, Lumina just couldn't keep still. But in the finish, she was saddled! All the straps and buckles were secure (but comfortable) and she was raring to go!

If only her rider would just hurry up already...she was almost whining in frustration at how long it was taking the young woman to get settled.

After a few more minutes, her rider finally gave the signal and Lumina walked over to the gate. Her rider leaned over and opened the latch and they shuffled throug before she leaned back to shut it again.

When they got to the end of the path, she was given another signal, this time she had her freedom and she ran as fast as she could without risking her rider falling off, but judging by the happy sounds coming from the saddle behind her, her rider was having just as much fun!
