Why do or don't they like love songs?;;
Despite his sweet appearence, Tobias is not particularly fond of most love songs. It's nothing personal though: He does not seek out to dislike songs just because they are about love, and in fact he quite enjoys the melodies and rhythms of such compositions.

No, Monty's issues lie in the lyrics. He is a man of substance, and looks for the deeper meanings and emotions embedded within a tune. Unfortunately, while searching for such things, his cynical and critical nature leads him to completely dissect and ridicule a song until there is nothing of serious substance left to be enjoyed.

Love songs in particular face the brunt of his criticism: On one hand he finds that many love songs turn out to be professing lust more so than love, and on the other he finds most cheesy, gooey love songs to be shallow, artificial and devoid of any real emotion, rendering them meaningless and pointless in Tobias' eyes.

But he is not completely lacking empathy: Monty enjoys songs which explore the real ups and downs of love and loss, and which make him really feel something - From epic, orchestral ballads begging forgiveness after a breakup to raw, heartfelt acoustics professing unconditional love.

The reason she likes love songs has to do with the fact that the type of music she listens to affects her mood, when she listens to happy music she is happy when she listens to sad music she is sad. So when she is feeling sad or lonely she listens to love songs and they make her feel happy and loved. She also likes to listen to them when dreaming of finding her soul mate, she adores the idea of love and love songs just make her more in love with love! <3
