What is their dream?: Volo's dream is to bring peace and happiness to others. As a genie, he gets a strong sense of fulfillment, happiness and pride when he grants wishes, especially to those who are truly deserving of them. He desires to share these feelings with the world by traveling around and granting the wishes of others or even just being somebody for them to talk with. He has seen the darkness and loneliness of this world, the way others have stopped truly believing in dreams and it breaks his heart. Volo believes that dreams are a gateway to changing your life for the better and that those who seek their dream will eventually find true happiness. He is determined to spread these feelings around the world and even if he only ever helps one sima he will be content, for that is one more dream that will never die and a little more light in somebody's life.

Despite all of the magic genie simas possess and all of Volo's good intentions, he often fears that his dream might not be able to come fully into fruition. His magic is limited to just three large wishes and a handful of small ones over the course of his lifetime which severely complicates his goal. Things has gotten to the point where alongside his main dream if bringing happiness and peace, Volo now also dreams of finding a way to remove or overcome limits in his magic so that he can continue to fulfill wishes and ensure that his primary dream never dies.

Shy wants nothing more than to do something he'll be remembered for. He understands he's a genie, and he has little faith he'll ever be released and become mortal, but he wants to grant a wish that changes something and actually has an impact. He wants to do great things and go to great extents to have his name go down in history for all to know of his accomplishments. He doesn't want to do anything noble or life changing, honestly he just doesn't want to be forgotten. The notion of being discarded in history and totally forgotten about terrifies him, so in part his dream is just to satisfy that fear. He thinks that if people can remember him, whether it be due to something heroic or catastrophic, then he can be content.
