Rukami #125

Postby PurpleKakashi » Fri Feb 06, 2015 10:24 am

Rukami (Gulo Stantes) are a newly discovered species of bipedal mammals. Though they resemble wolves, they are actually more closely related to the mustelid family, which includes wolverines, otters, and badgers to name a few. Through natural selection, these rare animals evolved to incredible sizes and developed sentient brains along with opposable thumbs.

The Crone.
This Rukami is old, her eyes are black and she's got long straight hair... Oh and she comes with two new potions! Mutation Blend and Nectar of the Gods (check the main page for their uses) you will be given these potions free of charge if you win her! You don't have to use them on her, you can have her use them on your other Rukami or someone else's ^^ (or just hoard them), with her age she is not able to have children soo you'll have to use that Nectar of the Gods potion on another Rukami ;>
For this Rukami what are some of her words of wisdom? And a story any kind of story with her in it.

Lots of Rukami used to ask me about my potions. Nowadays, most just brush it off...since they've become a lot more common. But in my time, only the highest of Kami had potions like mine in my possession; and I would get questioned about my ownership a lot.
I was usually on the run a lot because of this; and let me tell you, it didn't prevent these old bones from rotting beneath my pelt.

It all started one day when I was gathering herbs to store over the winter in case of sickness. Granted, it was only spring then....oh I can still smell the sweet wildflowers. I can still hear the sound of the brook and feel the wind through my pelt. And....her.
I never really was one to believe in the whole "love at first sight" nonsense, but just her. She was beautiful. I can still remember what she looked like, how beautiful she was and sounded - and how she smelled better than the flowers after a morning's rain. Oh, I could go on forever about my love. As fragile as a dandelion but as sturdy as the oldest oak.
She was truly the only one for me, but in my youth our numbers were still few; and same sex relations weren't so smiled upon. Of course they were still widely accepted, but repopulation was of utmost importance.

I remember making up any excuses I could to see her. I want to go sit by the brook, I want to check how the plants are growing for next year, I want to go for a walk...all these excuses to get away from my family and see her. She didn't have a pack, yet she refused to join mine fearing it'd put me in danger. It was the closest to a forbidden love I'd ever heard of.

As the years passed, my love for her only grew stronger and in turn so did hers for me. I still smile at the memory of how her eyes shimmered when we talked about our future together. How the air sung with the sound of her laughter...I'd give anything to hear her again.
As all couples do, we eventually began discussing kits! Oh, oh how I dreamed of having kits with the only one I could ever dream of loving with my entires being and more. We hadn't even discussed mate ship yet, but I believe we were far past the point of mates - we were mates from the moment we exchanged names.

Though...of course we couldn't have our own kits, and we were to kind to take someone else's as our own. That only left one option; Nectar of the gods.
Back then, potions were rare to come by and this was the rarest of them all. Only Rukami considered highest in command usually had them, and were surprisingly quite possessive of them, so it was almost impossible to get your own without their direct blessings.

That left us - or rather me - with a single choice. To steal, or forget my family with the only girl if ever truly love.
Of course, I could never choose the latter.
But after the steal and after the chase I never saw my beloved mate again.

personality wrote:Fluttering Bird is a frail, old soul. Even she wouldn't deny it.
She is your average old lady - sweet, like a grandmother, and it always warms her heart when children or her family visits. Almost, that is.
While she does care about others and the above is generally true, because of how the last person she let get close she never saw again(and the next was only because she couldn't let a baby be abandoned), Fluttering Bird is afraid to show kindness towards most strangers without first knowing their intentions towards her, it does make her come across as the opposite of who she really is.

Mocking Rain if course knows she's not cruel, but others see her as a witch due to not knowing the story behind her potions or even just because she's an old lady who lives generally alone in the middle of the forest.

Her personality really depends on whether you look at her or her reputation.

This didn't stop me from raising a family, however.
Granted, I never found anyone else is let myself get close to and develope a romantic relationship with. I never had biological children, however one day I did run across a single mother Rukami and her four kits - two older and two younger.
One of the older kits was a male, and he was weak and sickly. I could tell the mother needed help - and she made it clear(however kindly) that caring for him and making sure he didn't wither away was tiring and drug her and her other kits back as much as she loved him. After trying to help her, the little male took quite a liking to me.

After talking it over with the mother, she asked me if I would mind taking care of him until the winter was over and her other kits were stronger and could take care or each other, she could welcome him back.

Honestly I feel it was quite a rude thing to do on her part; abandoning a child just because he was weaker than the others. But If I hadn't accepted her plea, spirits know what could have happened to the poor boy...e could have been left at the river's edge, or in a field for a mother hawk.

I move to much to stay in one spot all winter, however, so even if the mother had returned for her son - and believe me, I checked for her scent in that are constantly - she likely wouldn't have found us rather than us finding her.
His name is Mocking Rain, though he seems to prefer Annie.
Ah
That was her name
My mate...she had always liked the name Annie, and upon learning it was her name I learned to love it too.
So I'll protect my Annie as if he was my own son - just the two of us, taking care of eag other like mother and son should. And when I die, he will choose what to do with my potions. They're all I have with him - and were all he has.

I miss my Annie.
But I'll raise Mocking Rain as if he was my own, until the end of time.

Name: Aela
Gender: Female
Words of Wisdom: Save us Dragonborn, the world is counting on you
Short Story: (I'm going to base my story off of Skyrim.)

Aela the village elder and, to some, the mad woman sat outside her home mixing potions to sell. Business had been slow recently with a dragon on the loose and no one brave enough to fight it, potions weren't selling. She dropped a hand full of fire salts and sabre cat tooth into a pot of bubbling river water. They sank to the bottom and the salt soon disintegrated, causing the water to turn into the colors of a sunset. As Aela sat in her old woven rocking chair she heard the towns people chattering about the recent dragon attack at Helgen, The town was now destroyed and only several people got away. "It turns out no one knows of the girl. The village idiot over in Whiterun thinks she's the Dragonborn." she over heard two maids gossiping on the other side of the bridge. Her eyes grew wide and she jumped out of her chair and headed inside and a speed surprising for a wolf of her age. She hustled to an old tattered and dusty bookshelf and grabbed a small dark green book with her long boney fingers. Blowing away the dust and cobwebs, the title was revealed. 'The Dragonborn Prophecy.' Aela opened the book quickly and flipped through the pages, stopping at a chapter entitled, 'Is it True?' "It is said in the prophecy that the Dragonborn will come, accompanied by war against a mighty dragon. Only can the Dragonborn defeat the monster but many will die trying." she read it allowed. "Aela!" a male voice yelled. she tuned and spun around hiding the book behind her back. "You know that talk of this devil you call the Dragonborn is a crime! You're coming with me." She stuck the book under her robe before the guard grabbed her arm and took her to the prison.

There she was, shackled and bound in a cell with a young girl. "What are you here for red?" The girl with bright red hair turned to look at Aela, she had a large scar from above her left eye all the way down to the bottom of her right cheek. "A guard attacked me and I fought back." the girl stared at Aela. "You?" She sat down on the hard earth. "This isn't good for my back. I'm here because I spoke of the dragonborn." she rasped. "This dust isn't doing me any good either." she took a potion from her robe and drank it. "You make potions?" the red haired girl asked? Aela nodded as she swallowed the last of the potion. "So what if I do? Making potions isn't getting me gold now that everyone is hiding from that dragon." she tossed the bottle over in the corner of the cell, it spun a bit then it stopped when it tapped the wall. "I'll buy some of your potions! I haven't met many people who are selling them now." Aela's eyes grew wide, she pulled out the book she had hid and opened it, it read. "The dragonborn will both stand out and blend in." she moved closer towards 'red' "You're the Dragonborn!" she whispered so no one would here. You must leave here and save Skyrim before countless other innocent lives are lost." She gathered the potions from her robe and a key and handed them to her. "Take these, There are more in my house you can go and get them." She placed the key in Reds hand and placed her hand over it. "Save us Dragonborn. Skyrim is counting on you."

Personality:
Asha is a peaceful and kind female. She likes living by herself near the edge of a forest. Sometimes she'll come across travelers of all kinds and become friends with them or give them supplies for their journeys, but she tries hard not to get too attached. Sometimes she will get attached without meaning to and it hurts to let them leave, but she just remembers the good times she had instead of focusing on the negatives. She spends most of her time collecting herbs, berries and other supplies she needs, and then preparing them for use. She tends to have a huge collection of supplies and a few too many baskets for her needs, but she does these things to pass the time away until a new visitor arrives or destiny leads her down a different path.
Destined Meeting:
Some would say meeting Vanya was just a coincidence, by chance, random. I think it was destiny. She needed to meet me, and I needed to meet her. It was no coincidence, it was destiny, and you may tell me otherwise, but I will always believe in destiny. The destiny of meeting Vanya.

I finished gathering the herbs and berries I needed before I started to head back to my den. The den was a small cave in the side of a hill. It smelled earthy and the floors were just packed down dirt. A few tables were made from large pieces of bark and old tree trunks. These tables were covered in berries and herbs. I also had shelves dug out of the dirt walls to hold my finished products. my bed was a pile of moss, grass and leaves that I cleaned out and replaced regularly. I do not hunt much anymore, let alone large animals like deer, but I had some old deer pelts that I had finished and had hung in front of the entrance, pinning them around the edge of the den entrance with strong bones to keep them in place. I had sewn a small piece of bone to one of the makeshift curtains, and a string of wolf willow to the other to tie the curtains shut during windy nights or when I go out.

I placed my new herbs down on one of my tables, organizing them by the feeling and scent more then sight. My sight had been fading, but it was not completely gone yet, but I had still taught myself to organize me things and hunt for herbs and berries through feelings and scents. I also taught myself to be more alert with my hearing, focusing on the sounds around me for danger. I finished organizing the herbs I had gathered before heading out to gather some wolf willow bark and long grass for rope and basket making. I walked through the trees, slowly feeling my way with my hind paws, feeling for dips in the ground, branches and fallen trees. I knew the basic direction I needed to go, but I had still left land marks to help me find my way, carvings in the trees, makeshift branches tied into specific shapes and even things I made just hanging from branches.

I walked quite some way before I heard the snapping sound of a branch and the whooshing of something flying through the air. I could not tell what the whoosh was from, but I knew the branch breaking was something small running. I stopped and crouched down lower to the forest floor, trying to make myself less of a target just in case there was an enemy or something nearby. I tried to think of what might have made the other sound. Could it have been someone throwing something? Maybe just a large bird diving down for a mouse or maybe even a rabbit? I did not know and so stayed down until I heard footsteps crunching in the dry leaves. I looked towards the sound to see a blurred figure. A rukami with redish brown fur and what looked like a bow in her hand appeared through the trees.

I stood just then, startling her. She raised her bow and pointed it towards me, causing me to chuckle. She gave me a suspicious look before lowering her tool and relaxing. "I am sorry for startling you..." I waited for the rukami to tell me a name or something to call them by. "Vanya." She finally replied, the sound of her voice telling me the blurred figure was a female. I then could tell that she had long hair, with a brained strand in it. "Well Vanya, you had me worried for a moment. I thought something dangerous was nearby." I saw her bow before she spoke. "I am very sorry for startling you ma'am." She said in a tone that showed respect and a seriousness. "You may call me Asha." I replied. She was silent for a few moments, and I thought I could see a startled look, but I could not entirely tell before she took on her serious form once again.

I then started on my way again, heading towards the edge of the forest where I would find long grass to weave baskets. I must have made Vanya curious as I could hear her footsteps behind me, following me. She followed me, and watched for a while as I collected the long, thick grass, before she copied and helped me in my goal. I smiled quietly to myself as Vanya worked next to me, a serious and yet curious vibe about her. I headed back to my den soon after, Vanya following closely behind. This was our meeting, and she stayed for a few weeks, learning how to weave baskets and pick out basic herbs and berries. I watched her carve her bow, adding delicate maple leaves whenever she had the time, but she seemed to focus on learning from me.

She stayed until she knew some basic survival. "I do not wish to leave, but I must continue on my journey." I heard her as I worked with the herbs at one of my tables. A hint of sadness was in her voice and I knew she did not want to leave, I did not want her to leave, but a feeling in my chest told me it was part of her destiny. I did not speak for some time until a simple sentence came to me as I remembered her story. "Do not let your past destroy your future." I turned around to see a shocked and yet puzzled look on her face, but she swiftly turned around to hide it from me. She did not reply to my sentence, she only looked down as the bow in her hands. "I will miss you." I walked over to her and took her hand in mine. "Farewell." I whispered into her ears before she left. I watched her blurry figure vanish among the trees, only stopping once to look back at me with slightly teary eyes.

This was our first and last meeting. I always get a feeling that destiny will not bring us together again, but who knows, maybe my hunch is wrong, but I will not let that hold me back. I will continue to live and survive until another comes to me through destiny, for destiny can bring about many strange encounters. I hope I will have more of these encounters, ones that will hold deep meaning for me like this one did, or even deeper meaning. Only time will tell.

lend a hand every now and then. wrote:a frustrated sigh escaping from the hellion's maw, steam rose high into the frosty air. jet black, coal-like chasms adjusting around the rough terrain infront of her, she scouted the perimeter before her eyes landed on a feminine figure, resting down near the fresh-watered stream. a frown dipping hecate's jowls, she stretched her extensive figure out before padding lightly down to the tributary.

obsidian orbs resting on the figure once more, she let out a low whistle when she realized that it was a fox-like mammal, miniature compared to the stature of her own. catching the attention of the feminine, a sharp squeak and fearful expression arose but the figure did not move an inch, stuck in place. a large grin stretching hecate's jowls out once more rather than drooping, politeness showed brightly in her expression. it was hard to pull such a thing, though she got through it quite easily.

a content whine rolling out from deep within her larynx, she dipped her head, letting her lavender-tinged ribbon slip out and lap at the water, pulling droplets into her mouth and savoring them greatly. straightening her platform out once more, she kept her eyes on her reflection in the h20.

"what's a wee one like you doing out here all alone?" hecate murmured evenly, her voice tranquil. feeling the fox move over a few inches, it surprisingly answered in a begrudged voice.

"my mate-.." she paused, inhaling deeply. her voice was hoarse, filled with sorrow, and the olden one felt empathy creep into her train of thought already, pieces pulling together quickly- she already knew what the sorrowful fox was going to say, it was on the tip of her tongue.. "he-he's gone..!" she sobbed out loudly.

pushing forward, closer to the fox, she kept her distance but tried to lend the wee one comfort, nodding a few times to herself. she knew that some were awkward when it came to this stuff;; they didn't know what to say, what to do, and she was no different. she kept her trap shut and focused on a petal left on the forest floor, that was soon blown away by the chilling breeze.

after a while, the sobs had fallen quiet and the fox's gaze met her own, a small smile pushing onto her jowls.. the fox, smiling through her pain, gave a nod and soon retreated. hecate's gaze dropped back down to the forest floor, leaving the fox at peace. whatever was ahead of her, she had a lot of repairing to do, and she wished a well future upon the wee one.

It goes to show, I hope that you know that you are
What my dreams are made of
Can't fall asleep, can't fall asleep
I lay in my bed awake, in my bed awake at night
As I dream of you
I'll fall in love, you'll fall in love
It could mean everything, everything to me
I can't imagine being anywhere else

They say that love is forever
Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need
Can't promise that things won't be broken
But I swear that I will never leave
Please stay forever with me
