Show day procedure:
6:00 am, morning of show
Cassidy is given her morning feed in the boxstall in the trailer while Christina freshens the bedding from the night before. While the mare finishes up, Christina cleans her tack up. She has lots of time for this as Cassidy is a pokey-eater.
6:45 am
Once the mare gets her breakfast into her, she get the 'pre-show jitters', and becomes very skittish. Now is when her nervous side really shows. Chris leads the mare out of the trailer, tying her to the side. Removing her blanket and wraps, she then thoroughly grooms Cassidy until she looks like freshly shined copper.
7:15 am
Christina gives the mare a bath in a specially formulated shampoo, made to make the horse look glossier, much like Show Sheen™. When the Cassidy is bathed, shhe gets a light sheet that helps dry her put on, and is turned out in the portable paddock Chris has set up until she dries.
8:00 am
Chris removes the sheet and once again thoroughly grooms the beautiful mare. When she is spic and span, Cassidy in tacked into a lunging cavesson. Chris then lunges her for 45 minutes, going no faster than a peppy canter.
9:15 am
Lunging is finished. Cassidy has been untacked and quickly brushed. Chris then checks her legs for any heat or swelling. Once she has confirmed the mare is good, Christina tacks her up once again, this time in her jumping practice tack. Cassidy is then lead to one of the many practice arenas.
9:45 am
Cassidy's girth is tightened before she is mounted by Chris. The jumps are an inch or two lower than they will be in the show. Cassidy will be ridden over the course three times before Chris dismounts and takes the mare back to the trailer.
10:00 am
With the start time of the show only 2 hours away, Chris ties the mare back up and untacks her. She checks her for heat and swelling again, then thoroughly brushed Cassidy out again, this time applying show sheen to her mane, tail and coat.
10:30 am
Cassidy's mane and tail are checked over, and her mane is plaited. She then has her light sheet put on, as well as leg wraps, and Chris takes her for a walk around the show grounds. This usually relaxes the nervous made. During this time, Chris and Cassidy formally wish their other competitors good luck.
11:15 am
At this time, Christina prepares for the show. She brushes and tacks Cassidy up, then leaving the made tied to the trailer for a moment, she slips into the living quarters of her trailer and puts on her riding habit. She then leads the made to the warmup ring.
11:45 am
Once at the warmup ring, Chris mounts her now fidgiting mare. They do not do any jumps for warmup, but simply some 20 meter circles at a walk, trot and canter. Cassidy is now a huge ball of skittish energy.
12:00 pm
Show begins! Good luck, Chris and Cassidy!

Hi there!
I am a Canadian girl who currently takes equitation lessons from my sister, landofmakebelieve. I ride her 9 year old, 16.1hh bay off track thoroughbred named Molly. I don't know much about horses but I really like them.
I love horses ^-^
