1. Any of several small dabbling ducks, chiefly of the genus Anas, often having brightly marked plumage.
2. A moderate or dark bluish green to greenish blue.
I chose this name not only for his beautiful colours but also because I like the name. I just like the sound of it, and Teal is a bit like a dabbling duck and not only because he loves water and has bright colours.
Dabble has several meanings
1. To splash liquid gently and playfully.
2. To undertake something superficially or without serious intent: "The restaurant business entails more than ... dabbling in interior design" (Andy Birsh).
3. To feed by moving the bill back and forth just below the surface or on the bottom in shallow water. Used of ducks.
This fits Teal as well since he's very playful.

Personality:
If you've played Pokémon Mystery Dungeon before you'll know there's a personality test to determine what a person's nature is. Teal's nature would definitely be impish. He is mischievous, loving nothing more than a prank gone well. He's also very playful, and carefree. He doesn't think about tomorrow, but lives more in the moment, living every day as if its his last, partying at every occasion. He's a sweet-talker, and he's been known to influence others to act the same, to let go and have fun. naturally homework and responsibilities are not a part of his party-plan, and Teal has become very skilled at dodging responsibilities. Partly by making excuses, partly by avoiding beans. If he's finally cornered, he tends to rebel and flat out refuse to do the job. This shirking of work has made him not very loved as a project partner, but he has ''connections' to help him out. Teal knows everyone and anyone, and they know him.
New teachers usually only remember the names of beans whose name they have to call often. Teal is one of those beans, with a big presence. If he's there, you'll know it. Not only is he loud, his friends are just so. He's the leader of a small group consisting of him and a couple other beans who like his energetic personality. They're usually the ones who get in trouble and the principal has a seat saved just for him. You could say he's anarchistic, but he doesn't mean harm. He just doesn't like to do anything he's not interested in, and he's distracted very quickly. He would like learning, if only he could be interested in reading. If a nature documentary is shown, he usually pays attention for longer than five minutes, because it is just that more interesting to him.
This is not only because of his attention span, though it is for the most part. No, under all that mischief hides an insecure and troubled little boy. Teal has a big, big secret that influences who he is entirely. Teal cannot read. Why, you ask? because he has so much trouble with it. He hasn't told anyone yet, but he secretly has a severe form of dyslexia. Dyslexia, for those who don't know, is a condition in the brain in which the connection between the two parts of the brain, used for reading among other things, does not work, or not properly. Because of this, Teal cannot easily see the difference between for example a b or a d. The small letters in the textbooks are just too incomprehensible for him. To him, it all looks just like one big jumbled up pile of letters. It is possible to improve his abilities a lot by special guidance and a special help with tests, such as more time or bigger letters. But this is only possible if Teal tells someone that he can't read well.
Unfortunately, Teal is prideful and he is too ashamed to say he cannot read while all of his friends can do so without any trouble. He's frustrated and jealous that others don't have these problems. Why him and not someone else? Teal doesn't know that there are others with the same problem, but he's not about to be overshadowed by others. He wants to be seen and appreciated, so he acts brazenly, almost to the point where he's obnoxious.
It is not the case that everything is just a act. He really is brazen and impulsive, and should learn to control these impulses. He is, however also kind and caring. Behind that big mouth hides a boy who can show strong compassion towards his friends or anyone else who is in trouble. He has zero tolerance towards bullying and will send any and all bullies packing if he sees them. Under the guise of 'this is my turf' he has made the school and playground an area where anyone can play safely. Anyone who looks like they need help will be placed under his care, if need be, by force. He knows the damage bullies can do, as he has seen it first hand, so he will pester anyone who is shy until they let them in. Teal is surprisingly patient and gentle when it comes to this, and many of his clique are actually beans he has freed from bullies by his behaviour.
All in all he is a kind bean who should be leashed, but with enough length to move around comfortably. Meaning he needs to get the guidance and help he needs but he also needs to be able to do the things he likes, as long as he does what he has to do. If these guidelines are followed, this little boy can be turned into a fine young man.

Dante:
Teal is quite the opposite of his stoic father. Emotional and positive, he enters with a bang! Teal has absolutely no problem showing how he feels. In fact, he WILL show you how he feels, whether it be good or bad. If he's angry everyone will know, his voice is loud and far-reaching. This does not mean Teal and Dante have nothing in common. Teal is much more like Dante's younger self, bouncy and cheerful. Teal is very impulsive and doesn't give much thought to the consequences of his actions. If he'd been in his father's paws at that time, he'd probably have done the same. Teal is very loud indeed, but when he focusses he can be just as stealthily and silent as a real hunter. It's just that he chooses not to act like that most of the time because he usually finds silence boring. Teal also strongly dislikes to be on his own. He's a social butterfly who loves to meet new beans. Which is why he begged to go to a real school rather than get home schooling. He really loves his father, but he also loves places bustling with activity and parties.
Isis:
Teal gets along very well with his hippie-like mother. Its from her that he learned to be carefree and regard things with a relaxed attitude rather than worrying about them. He's not as calm though. No, this energetic fur-ball would rather be on the move all day and come home after a grand adventure, which is something he does often. He also learned from her that there is something to love in all creatures. Well, he doesn't love them but he sure knows how to befriend them, though he doesn't like snakes very much. He also doesn't really like it when Isis tries to braid his fur. First, he has to sit still for it which, in itself, is a challenge. He also doesn't like that his fur then hangs in strings, as they tend to stick to branches and such when he rushes past. Teal does like to head bang or pretend he's a fabulous supermodel when he has braids. He just likes to make a joke out of anything and make it more fun (to him).
Annerly:
Teal can't get along with his big sister Annerly as well as his friends. They are friendly towards each other and play a lot but their interests are simply completely different. He does try a lot since his sister seems rather lonely, but those few times when he barged into her room unannounced didn't really go over well. He means well though, and he has forcibly dragged her along on his many adventures a couple times already. They do have an age difference however, and Annerly IS a girl, so he tends to take her to things he thinks girls like such as flower meadows and girl parties and stuff. He sometimes gets her an invite from someone from his class, but she's a quiet girl. So far he hasn't been able to make her more sociable, but knowing him, he'll keep trying. The word 'impossible' isn't in his dictionary after all!
