Username: Bk13
Zeyama's name: Leon
Why you want it: Well the species is very creative and incredibly clever, mixing the two most infamous equine type critters, genius! Anyway my little pack of misfit animals is slowly growing in size and he would make a perfect edition to it ^^ I love that he is arctic and I was holding out for one because I wanted a Zeyama that I would click with. Me being the pale outcast of my school it works really well XD
Personality: An introvert, because of his odd looks he tends to keep to himself, like a soft spoken little eskimo. While normally polite and quaint, he also tends to get nervous very easily and is super shy. Around friends or others that he trusts he still remains relatively quiet however when needed he will listen for hours on end. Some view him as a 'teddy bear'; quiet, but lovable, and easy to hug and talk to. In other words a great comfort. His downfall, although, is any kind of confrontation. Whether it be physical or verbal, when called out this fluffy little Zeyama will back down and submit immediately.
History: Both his father and mother had been arctic Zeyama, living in in the North. However once his mother, who's name was Lalani, became pregnant with little Leon they decided to leave the harsh winter land of their home and find a warmer climate.
After a few months of traveling the developing family came across a small herd of savahna Zeyama. These Zeyama were wary of the strange colors that the intruding family adorned and in turn at first rejected them. However when Leon's father pleaded with the herd to allow them to stay the biggest male of the group obliged but on one condition.
The small group had gathered for the mating season however the females were nervous to begin with the breeding because a lion had taken up residence nearby and they feared for their and their baby's lives. The group was small and could not afford to lose any of the males for protection purposes, as a result Leon's father was assigned to go kill or chase off the lion and assure the groups safety.
This was an impossible task for a single Zeyama and Lalani pleaded with her mate to not accept. However in the warmth of the night Leon's father made a further deal with the large male, if he went to go rid the area of the lion and did not survive, they would take in Lalani and protect her until the baby was born. The male agreed and the small family spent their last night together. The next morning before Lalani awoke, her mate left to carry out his end of the deal. He was gone until the sun had almost made it's full journey across the sky, Lalani stood waiting all day for her mate to return to her; when night fell one of the younger females coaxed Lalani to rest and assured her the herd would send a search party in the morning.
And that they did, a party of three males set out to search for the missing Zeyama and found him as well as the lion shortly after noon, or at least, what was left.
Leon's father had found the den of the beast the day before and discovered it at the time of a cat nap. It lay inside it's den, the golden mane glistned like fire in the noon sunlight. It's den consisted of a cave dug out of the side of one of the few small mountains in the savahna. With a cat like silence himself, the arctic Zeyama climbed atop the outside of the cave and found a boulder small enough that he could move but large enough to crush an animal, even a lion. After a few near falls that would surely have killed him, the determined soon to be father positioned the rock above the entrance of the den. It was dusk by this time, and the cat was soon to wake and go hunt, however he had eaten his last meal. As the sun dipped below the flat horizon the lion stalked out from his den and took a deep breath of the cooling air. What Leon's father did not expect was for the cat to catch his scent. The lion turned to see the balacing Zeyama on top of his den with the boulder in front of him. With a furious roar that shook the very rock Leon's father stood on the lion leapt towards his prey, claws fully extended. At that same moment the determined Zeyama reared back and pushed the boulder forward, sending it down with a great groan of reluctance. However he was too late, the lion had his back leg in a death grip that even death couldn't undo. The boulder hit the lion, killing him instantly, but his claws were still imbeded in the leg of the helpless Zeyama and both predator and prey plummeted down to their final resting places.
The party returned with the news of the death and sent Lalani into a great state or dispair. She refused to speak for the remainder of her pregnancy, a vigil for her dead mate. Even after Leon was born he remained nameless for the first few weeks of his life due to his mothers silence. One of the males that had stayed with his mate had been on the search party and took it upon himself to name the young light colored Zeyama. Because of his light, pale golden color and his fathers bravery the male named him Leon which in fact meant lion.
As he grew his mother seemed to grow little by little as well, she spoke but only to her son and most of the speaking she did was about her mate. How brave and loving he was, and how he had given his life to save theirs. Leon learned much about his father from his mother and learned to idolize the brave figure and strive to attain that level of courage. Unfortunately he never could, his mother stopped speaking once again and Leon blamed himself for not having listened enough. He too spoke very little and became very shy for fear of letting down the ones he loved.
At a young age, Leon left his mother and went out on his own, traveling wherever the road led him, searching for a being that he could learn to love and protect just as his father had.
