Why does she wear the bells/Their significance: [110/250 words]
These bells are not normal bells. While they sound off at movement and sway back and forth, throwing glittering lights all over the place when she moves they serve a far more important purpose. Samantha wears the bells because she is deaf and these bells are her way of speaking with others. Each bell is specially engineered to vibrate according to the sound waves that they detect. Over the years Samantha has trained herself to interpret the vibrations as speech that she understands. She is then able to respond with audible words of her own since she went deaf as a young child and was able to learn basic speech.

[more on each bell]
Sam's bells are divided into three different things that are detected. The first three [located in her hair and ear] help her determine the subtle differences in ones tone of voice. While she relies mostly on facial expression to determine tone she also uses the feed back from these bells to detect the vibrations that change with each mood, allowing her to easily detect sarcasm or insincerity. The second is the main bell around her neck. This bell is used for the brute work of "hearing" what others say and the mass of the sound that goes on around her. With this bell she hears distinct words and voices as well as any other loud noises. Her third set is just for show, being the only set of bells that she just wanted to add to her collection and quite likes getting to interpret what her other bells sound like. [These are the ones on her front legs.] Sam's final set of bells are the ones attatched to her tail. She uses these to interpret the approach of others so that she is never startled and the subtle differences in her surrounds. This means anything from the entrance and exit of others to when something is dropped or picked up.

⇛ ρʟυмıε'ƨ пαмε ⇚ Kalo, a Greek word meaning encore. Not only does it relate to her personality in a unique twist, but it's the name of a large brand of garden bells.
◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼█◼

the meaning of the bells
The meaning of Kalo's silver bells doesn't owe itself to her dedication to family or a loved one's loss. In fact, their story isn't sad, but eerily unnerving- the bells do represent something, but decidedly not herself. Silver is the color of balance, which is twisted in its own way since Kalo is best described as apprehensive. Her life is definitely not balanced, and she is so afraid of losing herself to one side or the other that she wears the bells to keep in balance and to ensure that she doesn't lose herself. It also keeps Kalo's friends from losing her- the tinny jingling of the silver bells serves as reminder to them that Kalo is still there. Rumors say that if she ever went completely insane, she'd remove her bells to signal and to let her friends know she'd gone. The main bells symbolize her six friends, silent gratitude for their support and love; the bracelets on her forelegs each have seven miniature bells as reminders of the seven sins, which Kalo knows are the difference between one side of balance and the other. Aside from the balances Kalo strives to equalize, silver represents protection against dark powers and evil spirits. Kalo wears the silver bells for this reason as well- the constant darkness in her anxiety and panic attacks is kept at bay by the pure, delicate silver. The jingle of these bells has the significance of Kalo's biggest fears and her symbol of greatest protection.249/250 words
personalityFidgety, distressed, anxious- Kalo has a severe anxiety disorder that no amount of acupressure, mental therapy or prescription drugs can cure. Her clinical anxiety dictates her life, causing her to stress over the most minor things, and the slightest provocation eliciting panic attacks. Subsequently, Kalo rarely enjoys life, although she is an optimist and determined to remain positive- even if she can't show it. The lack of socialization never affects Kalo, and her dislike of daytime life never emerges at night. She's a night owl and stays up late, sleeping at dawn and dusk. While she aspires to write books, Kalo hardly gets more than a few pages done before getting distracted. She's always on-the-go- staying still for too long causes her mind to wander and she becomes nervous. In fact, she prefers hobbies brcause they're more short-lived. One of her favorites is sky-watching; she's almost obsessive over the clouds, watching and dreaming for hours. Kalo is also a bit of an eccentric character. When she's not concerning herself with keeping in balance, she's able to develop a beautiful personality: including her lilting tone and odd word choice. However, this charismatic, creative side of her almost never emerges, and certainly not during the day. Even at night, Kalo doesn't show her true personality. The overwhelming, constant fear of anxiety and panic attacks are like shadows stalking her from the gloom, and Kalo can never escape them.236/250 words

Braylee
Why does she wear the bells?
Braylee is very forgetful.
The reason she wears these bells is so that she can remember the things she needs to do and keep track of. How this works is each bell has a different sound. As she walks around and hears the jingling, she will suddenly remember what she is supposed to be doing.
Poem:
There was always a jingle
when she walked.
And there was always a smile
when she spoke.
Whenever the soft sound
was heard,
everyone would turn
their heads
looking for the
forgetful girl.
The bells carried
their noises
through the air.
And all could hear
when she was coming.

Name: Arian (Meaning silver in Welsh)
Why does she wear the bells/Their significance:
To let everyone know of her festive cheer! Arian has a bad fear of being forgotten as so many others and likes to wear bells to notify others of her existence and her happiness. . . The main reason for this is also because she is mute and expresses herself through the jingle of bells, she loves their bouncing chime and reckons it suits her bubbly nature perfectly.
As such even when it's not Christmas she wears her jingly bells, consequently never ever taking them off her paws. When she signs it's almost like she's talking with the combination of twinkles and dings her bells create. . . She says to everyone that's what she would sound like if she could speak.
Writing of some sort:
"It's in the draw" I sign frantically, the bells around my writs jingling to the movements. I waited for my friend - the parade Santa to find his belt, the oaf forgot it. He was lucky I had a good eye for spotting things.
'Thanks Ari.' He said wounding the belt around his waist, stepping off out into the pack streets. I pulled him back by the collar and shook my head, pointing at the lopsided belt which sat upside down. He laughed, 'oh yeah, thanks again.' He went to adjust it but I smacked his hands away playfully and fixed it up, he needed to be presentable and his fumbling fingers wouldn't to the trick. Once I was satisfied I backed away, signing a quick "goodluck", the bells representing my excited feelings, gosh how I loved them. Oh I had almost forgot, quickly I tugged on his arm and offered him a one of my bells, to show I meant my good luck. . . Luck was everything after all.
He smiled at me, it was a surprised smile. 'Are you sure?'
I nodded victoriously, dropping the tiny treasure into his hand, with the other I quickly signed, 'now my Sana is compete.'
He was, and so now Christmas had truly arrived with my first ever gift.
