Sha competes best in horseback archery because he finds it easy to maintain an easy canter when his rider is focusing on using their bow. His sensitivity and willingness to listen to his rider has allowed him to learn to respond well to leg and seat aids, and does not need much encouragement from the reins. Before he and his rider began horseback archery, Sha did a bit of stock work and was required then to respond to seat and leg aids, with only some neck reining. This prior training has helped him to adjust to horseback archery, and he thoroughly enjoys it.

They worked with him for many years until he was almost perfect time and they took him to a small show not too far away from the stable. He finished with the best time and he didn't even break a sweat.
