Her philosophy:
"I'm not going to deny myself happiness. I don't care if it's rash,
I don't care if it isn't right, and I don't care if it will isolate me.
I've lived so many years of my life having been refused sheer pleasures of life,
and I'm going to spend the rest of my life making myself happy.
And if somebody doesn't like me for that, well,
I don't need toxic people like them in my life."

sonnor is baewhat is sonnorshhhhhUpbringing:Cosette grew up in a very well off family, who got their wealth and property from a relative. Due to their fortune, her parents never worked, and instead devoted their time to raising her. She was constantly doted upon, her room filled with fancy dolls and frilly bows. This does not mean she always got what she wanted, in fact, she despised these lavish things, all she wanted was to explore the forest behind their mansion.

As she got older, Cosette was expected to become a little lady, and her freedom became even more limited. She was withdrawn from public school, and instead was given her own private tutors. Often times she was to be the hostess at extravagant parties that her parents held, serving beverages and exchanging small talk. Somehow she knew this wasn't right, but her parents assured her it was normal.
As she got into high school, the pressure on her only tightened. It was made very clear to her that she had a role to play, and she had no choice in what that role was. During weekdays she had no 'school', instead Cosette would be learning how to cook, clean, and sew among other things. The traditional schooling was all crammed into the weekends, so that she would be occupied while her parents went to parties. By now she was hazed into believing this was how every kid grew up. When your last trip to public school was in 1st grade, you might have believed it to.
College:When she was finally old enough to leave, her parents secured her a spot in a prestigious college, before sending her off with a considerable amount of money. In what was the biggest mistake of their life and the best miracle of hers, she was left unattended.
Once she entered university, her entire life turned upside down. She was a sheltered girl, and no matter how much of a socialite her parents were, that did not help her in real social interactions. She had never seen any technology more advanced then a wall phone, and now she was thrown into the real world.
She hadn't declared her major, but she was rarely attending her classes anyway. She was learning alright, learning what real life is like. Some basic things most people take for granted, like how to use technology. Cosette was totally absorbed into social media as well, primarily using Reddit and Tumblr. To her, she could learn much more using things like this then going into some classroom.
She hadn't even completed her first year when she became a college dropout. She quickly packed up her belongings, and was gone without a trace the next day. She had a bucket list in her hand, a good chunk of change, and a desire to see what had been hidden from her.

-rhett and linkThe bucket list. 1. Clearwater Beach, Clearwater FL.
2. Grand Canyon National Park, AZ.
3. White Sand National Monument, NM.
4. Any Mall around Christmas time.
5. The Forest.
Each one of her destinations had a reason, it had something she was denied of as a child. With a smartcar packed full of luggage, her road trip began.
Clearwater Beach. Reason: Being in the ocean.
Her first stop was in Florida, on a nice cool day. After getting herself a touristy pair of sunglasses, flipflops, and an inner tube, it was time to hit the beach. Hardly able to contain herself after smelling the salty breeze, she ran into the ocean with her swim ring, not even bothering to take off her flip flops. Cosette had never learned to swim, but for her leisurely floating worked just as well.
✓
Grand Canyon. Reason: Getting to camp.
It isn't very surprising to learn that Cosette never went on a camping trip as a child, considering how she was raised. After a few more days spent in Clearwater, she drove west to change that. Soon she arrived at the Grand Canyon, and after doing some sightseeing, got to her campground: Mather. She got her tiny tent up, cooked herself some s'mores, and watched the Arizonian sun melt into the canyon.
✓
White Sands.Reason: Playing in the sand/Getting dirty.
The seemingly endless dunes of her next location were the perfect opportunity to do something she had always longed to do: to play in the sand. While she could have easily done this at the beach, she figured it'd be better when there were no shells or other people to get in the way. She rolled around in the dunes not unlike a small child. When she got a dirty look from a stranger passing by, she'd quickly return it, making sure to let them know she did not care at all about what they thought.

Penn Square Mall.Reason: Visiting a Mall Santa.
Her oddest desire led her to Oklahoma City, to a Gymboree. With a completely straight face, she got in line to meet Santa. It certainly felt a bit odd, Santa had never been a thing in her household, her parents made sure she knew every gift was from
them, not some man in a red suit. Santas 'elves' were whispering in confusion, parents were telling there kids not to laugh at the odd lady, and the jolly old man himself was puzzled.
"H-hello there dear. Erm... would you like to sit on my lap?" He looked stunned when she actually did it, and it was pretty clear he couldn't support her for very long. "So, what do you want for christmas?" He rushed his speech, and expectantly looked her in the eyes. She pondered the question for a second, just enjoying the look on his face.
"A kitten. I want a kitten."
"A kitten! Wonderful! Smile for the camera!" He immediately responded, just wanting to get her off. The camera quickly flashed, afterwards he immediately gestured for her to get off. Cosette complied, excitedly grabbed her picture from the elves, and smugly walked off. It was perfectly awkward, just like any good mall santa experience should be.

The Forest.Reason: Wanting to explore it.
Finally, her expedition had brought her back home. Texas. She wasn't there to beg for money, visit her folks, or even chat with the baker [a kind old woman who would always sneak sugary treats to her room]. No, she was here to answer one question that never got answered. What was behind the great oak trees.
She had a scenic view of the forest from her bedroom window, although she never was able to get in. Even still, it was always in her thoughts, the one thing she obsessed over. Her notebooks were filled with what she thought it would be like, her dreams haunted by it, and the one thing she always wanted to see. She had tried to get to it multiple times, but something always stopped her. But nothing could stop her now.
She looked up at the large tree that guarded the entrance to the forest. There was a medium sized opening between it and another tree, and that was her ticket in. She closed her eyes and squeezed through, her heart pumping faster then it had ever been. She opened her eyes, ready to see whatever magnificent thing awaited her.
And then her heart sank. There was trash everywhere. Old furniture, appliances, and just general junk. She knew exactly what had happened, people didn't want to go to the landfill so they illegally dumped it here. Even with that knowledge, she felt crushed inside. Tears welling in her eyes, she slumped against a tree trunk.
"
Were my parents really in the right to not let me come? Did they know about this? Have they contributed to this? And why didn't they just tell me what was behind it?" Thoughts raced through her mind at a mile a minute, she was still trying to comprehend it. She furiously shook her head. "
No, they weren't right! I needed to learn for myself, I shouldn't have been wondering all those years." She glanced at the leaves above her, and stopped to think about why she was here. She slightly smiled, although her face was wet with tears.
"
I mean, at least I'm not going back to cry on their shoulders. I would have felt constantly in debt to them somehow for letting me see this if I did get to." She mused. She jolted back up suddenly, and ran back to her car. "
No use in staying there. I've got things to do, memories to make, and a box that needs a checkmark."

Personality:Selfish:Cosette values herself above others. While if it won't hurt her she'll do a good deed, if it'll make her less happy she won't do it. Making herself happy is what keeps her running, her denying an opportunity for joy is a very rare occasion.
rHot tempered:While her default state is being happy, get her angry and you'll certainly regret it. Even though she despises debating, to her it makes everybody less happy and most of the time finds others reasons flawed, but if you do get her into an argument she'll be a tough opponent to beat.
rReckless:She simply does what she thinks will please her the most, often times without thinking about it. As long as the aftermath isn't to bad and she did have fun, it is all worth it to her. Whenever the consequences are larger she tends to have some regrets, but that rarely happens.
rSharp tongued:Cosette has a dry, cutting remark ready at a moments notice, and isn't afraid to let them loose if she thinks it's needed. She won't look the other way if a friend says something wrong, in fact, she's the first to let them know when that's the case.
rSelf assured:She's rarely has any confidence issues, and when she does she pulls herself out of it remarkably quickly. If she's doing something, she thinks it's right, and will work hard to make sure it gets done.
rHappy:Unless she has a reason to be any other emotion, she'll probably be walking around with some sort of a smile. It may be a joyful grin, or it may be a smug smirk, but her pearly whites are constantly showing. Her general attitude for life is the same: try to be happy.
rOccupation:That one little question Cosette is always dying to avoid. Her job. She doesn't have one, and while she doesn't really
want to look for one, she knows eventually she'll have to get one. Her parents money won't last forever, but it will last for a good amount of time. She has no idea what she would want to do, but she does know the one thing she won't do: monetize her beauty.
She's been approached multiple times by people asking her to star in some commercial for a product, be used in a photo shot, or model some clothes for them. All of these people get an astounding no from her. Her beauty is always what people compliment her on, not her brains or personality, and she despises it. People automatically assume that she's a gentle person because of her appearance, and she doesn't want to feed that.
Final notes:Just a few little things I wanted to include, but I felt like they didn't fit in with the main piece.
All of the places Cosette visited on her road trip are real, except for the forest. Mather is a real campground at the grand canyon where you can hitch a tent [ the s'more part left out a little detail that she had to use a grill, since bonfires aren't allowed from what I researched.] And yes, even the mall. And the santa part isn't made up either! It really is hosted at Gymboree, and as I'm editing this currently the santa is supposedly still there. [I've never been to this mall, but I found their webpage online]. I couldn't find anything that said if adults are allowed to sit on a mall santas lap, so I just assumed they could.
