Short story: I am Lakita, chimney sweeper is my job. It's a filthy job, low paid and I'm dirty once I get home. I live alone and today's Christmas. It had never bothered me not to celebrate it because it's no fun alone. My two friends are visiting their families today to celebrate with them and laugh together. I have no family.
As I pack my stuff from work and begin to walk home, I notice that the streets are covered with snow. Another Christmas alone with no one to share presents and a fine meal with, I think as I slowly walk up the stairs to my small flat. I'm glad that the place I've worked last isn't far from my home.
I open the door and get in. It's dark, as usually, and cold. But this time there's another scent in the air beside the smell of my cat's toilet. I can smell food and some cinnamon. I decide to turn on the lights - a huge "Merry Christmas!" banner is hanging from the low ceiling and many people are gathering around my living room table where a big cooked turkey lays. I recognize my two friends and start to walk toward them, still too shocked to speak. "Merry Christmas Lakita", one of them says. "We decided to take our families here so that we can celebrate with them and with you. You're always alone on Christmas, so why not getting some company?" I just blink and hug them. That's what I've always dreamed of. Celebrating Christmas with my friends and their families.

Sorry for any mistakes, English isn't my first language. c:

The cap looked so very forlorn lying there in the snow.
It was dark grey. The soot streaking its velveteen surface was almost undetectable against the actual fabric, but it could have been another color and had simply been stained permanently. The not-quite-still-white London snow made little flurries and blizzards up and around it. It seemed not to have an owner, or perhaps it was simply lost.
In either case, it certainly appealed to the young grey plumie meandering past. He picked it up and brushed it off, melting the snow with his warm paws. He popped it on his head, where it promptly slid down around his eyes.
He stood taller and strutted about proudly, making tracks in the snow, which he immediately noticed and started to chase. He ended up tripping over his paws and landing with a ploof in a snowbank. He stood up and shook off, splattering everything not already covered with snow. In the process, the hat flew off.
The plumie made a small noise of discontent. The wind blew the hat around and over a fence.
The pup wasn't giving up that easily. He dashed over to the fence and wriggled up it carefully, landing on the other side with another ploof. He shook the snow off his face and crawled through it, stepping high to clear the surface.
He spotted his target: the grey cap was lying on top of an orange scarf, looking just as lonely as before. Slowly, the plumie approached his goal, slinking close to the snow as if it could be scared off.
He grabbed the hat and scarf, curling up inside of them next to a warm chimney on this cold December night.

[Victorian time; James aged 11]
a single flake of burnt coal floated onto the floor. James stopped cleaning the chimney for a brief moment; but then continued doing his job. He absolutely hated his job; and barely got any freedon at all. But this is the only way, he thought as he finally finished cleaning the chimney. James wasn't rich; he only got a few pence for his job. As he moved onto the next chimney, he overheard voices. James peered behind from the chimney and saw two plumerians standing in a small alley. From the looks of it, they were both rich. James scrambled forward, listening intently.
".. I'll be off soon to the countryside tomorrow. They say they're kind there - what a pity the kids here aren't there, some of them would even take in that dirty lot!" the first plumerian said. "Well, I'll be up by the town centre tomorrow at ten o'clock. Farewell," he finished, leaving the alley. James knew this was his chance.
The next morning, he set out to the town centre. The carriage was there, so he quickly slipped on it and covered himself with a blanket so he couldn't be seen. James could not wait; he was finally going to be free, to begin a new life. As he finally reached the countryside, he leapt out and ran all the way to the town.. where his to-be foster parents were waiting.

Name: Mumkhar [mumm-car]
Gender: male
Short story:
"Snow!" A small voice cheered gleefully; the voice of a young Plumerian. Gray paws
made small crunching noises as they skidded across the snow, sending snow flying
everywhere. The soot-gray Plumerian hopped about in the snow, beaming at the
sight of his favorite weather. "Mumkhar!" A voice called from behind him. As he
turned to look, he was pelted with three snowballs. "Hey!" he protested, chasing
after his friend. Mumkhar suddenly spotted something orange against the white
snow, and he turned to inspect it. Turns out it was a scarf! And it matched his
feathers. He smiled and wrapped it around his neck, liking the soft knit feel of the
scarf- until he got pelted by more snowballs and remembered to chase after his friend.
-
In a small bakery sat a Plumerian, drinking eggnog and smiling to himself as he looked out the window. He finished, setting the glass down on the table with a small thud and reaching into
his bag. Leaving a generous tip on the table -though it was not needed, since it was the holiday
season-, he quickly grabbed his hat, sat it atop his head, then left the bakery with a chime of
bells from atop the door and a sooty, orange scarf whipping out behind him as he was consumed
by the blizzard once again.

callus's story

      the spirit of giving
      a short story
      victorian london - 1809
      xxxxxchoking against the stray flecks of ash that had found their way into his windpipe, callus continued to finish up his job. as a chimney sweep, he was usually ignored by passers. his job was indeed minimum wage, though callus didn't mind. he was actually quiet thankful for his job. it supplied him with nice enough clothing, a rented apartment, and food. most others didn't even have that, and for that, he was beyond grateful. sometimes, he even got a pie to take home, and more commonly, he would get a very nice tip. finishing his scrubbing, he attached four extra pieces of holly, covered the perimeter of the top of the chimney, and stepped back to admire his work. the holly leaves looked great in color contrast to the red chimney, the lush green leaves and the red berries twinkled cheerily in the cold winter light, making everything a lot more brighter, a little more happier. he nodded happily to himself, proud of his work. turning around on his heel, he took a moment to stare out at the town. It was fun to watch the people below him scramble around like ants, holding brightly wrapped christmas presents. the center of town was the most enchanting though; a gigantic, ornament covered pine tree sat smack dab in the center of the clearing. carriages drove around the radius of the magnificent plant, and at the front, carolers sang, while passers admired the tree at a distance.

      xxxxxcarefully making his was down onto the concrete again, callus made his was to the front of the household, and rapped against the door, preparing to wish the owners a merry christmas and to hopefully recieve payment. only after thirty seconds of waiting, the door swung open and another plumerian who was dressed warmly greeted him. fantastic scents flooded into callus's nose, and he could help but sigh a little as he was hit head-on by a tsunami of warm air. "hullo there," callus began in a pleasant tone of voice, "i'm callus, and i'm done with your chimney." the owner took a quick look at him, smiling in reply to his words and his sigh. "why thank you, honey." she replied sweetly, and then stepped around him, taking a peek at her chimney. "goodness gracious!" she exclaimed, "it looks gorgeous!" at this, callus puffed out his chest. "yep... best be in the christmas spirit, huh, madam?" "yes, yes!" the other plumie stepped back, and then flung her door open wide. "why don't you step in, kind sir? i need to go get your payment." callus hesitates, he was quite dirty at the moment. "i'll just wait out here, ma'am." "no, no, no, come in, child, it's quiet cold outside! i insist upon it!" she steps to the side, and another wave of deliciousness smacks into him. unable to help himself, callus cautiously steped in. the other plumie immodestly hurries off into another room, returning quickly with twenty crowns. she hands them to callus and he backtracked hastily. "ma'am, i require only three crowns. this is far too much." she only shakes her head. "take them." she grabs his right paw and presses them into his palm. "you deserve it." flushing as red as a cherry, callus hesitantly stuffs them into his coat pocket. "thank you so much, ma'am." he replies quietly, completely unprepared for her next words. "it's getting dark sir, would you like to enjoy a nice christmas feast with me?" she asks, her rosy cheeks practically glowing. "ma'am..." the begins. she had already given him so much. she interrupts him. "i am but an old woman, it does get extremely lonely in this big old house... i'd love some company." without another word, she reaches for his forearm and drags him into a brightly lit dining area, and shoves him into a seat. callus was quiet hungry by now, and not wanting to disappoint the old lady, he decided to stay.

      xxxxxafter the obnoxiously humongous meal, callus left the old woman's house. he had composed a long speech of gratitude before leaving. it looked like this christmas wasn't so lonely after all. the old plumie had kindheartedly given him as many leftovers as she possibly could, and callus's arms were completely full. his belly was completely and utterly filled to the brim, and there was a strange, warm sensation tingling through his veins. the cold didn't really affect him, though his breath went out in steady white puffs of air. a beggar sat at the side of the road, and looked extremely miserable. callus stopped for a moment and set down his items, then inched forward and handed the dirty beggar a pie. the beggar looked up and graciously took the pie, giving callus a nod of acknowledgment and respect. "thank you." she whispered. "merry christmas." callus smiled back, and then went on his way back home. there was nothing better than the feeling after giving something to someone else.

Name;
Oliver, from 'Oliver Twist'

Gender;
Male

Short story;
An inscription Oliver wrote over the real story of Oliver Twist in his school text book.

And so young Oliver continued his life as a chimney sweep. Up in chimneys the young monkey-boy would scurry, clearing a path for his master's brushes. It was hard, and it was dangerous, and it got his paws awfully dirty, but it was work. And work was good, right? After all, there was no chance of him going back to school or the workhouse. No chance at all, if Oliver could do anything about it! Up and down the chimney, clearing soot, getting sooty, obeying his master. The occasional beating, the offhand slap, but nothing too severe. A year or two went by and Oliver, remaining nimble and small, had a fair bit of money from sweeping. He wanted to spend it on a new hat, or a new cloak! He went into town and saw an advertisement for a vacancy in the workhouse. He walked in and asked for the job, which was given to him upon the noting of his smart new shoes. He was a quick-talking and intelligent young man, and he soon rose through the ranks of the workhouse. Soon he was the head of the board, and was asked if he wanted to make any changes. To which he immediately replied, "Give the boys more gruel!"
Oliver, this is shocking defacing of a school textbook! Please see me to organise your detention.
