Story of how she found her strange feathers:
Zinnia loves photography, and occasionally she'll go into a forest to take photos, or possibly another country. Once she went to a forest, rumored to house magical and enchanting creatures. Zinnia, of course, wanted to take photos of this so called "enchanted" area, so she set off into it. She was amazed by the sheer beauty and complexity of the forest, and while in it she found feathers, to which looked like butterfly wings. The natives of that area told her that the "wings" were sacred, and whoever found them were to keep them, so she kept them as a keepsake, and uses the beautiful objects as makeshift wings.

finding her feathers:

The sun was barely visible as Vespera walked along the deer path, deep in the forest. Vespera loved traveling and going to new places but generally she liked to stay away from others, and veer away the main roads and paths and into the woods. Now though, it was getting late and she needed to find a place to rest for the night. Up, under, and by trees were her preferred sleeping spot but when a large enough, unoccupied cave was available and it had good shelter she would stay there. The problem was though
Vespera was new to this land, and she had very little idea of where she was going. All she knew was that she was headed for the sea and that she was going the right direction.

Vespera sighed as she looked around. There wasn’t any cave in sight, and from the looks of it, it might rain soon. Deciding to look one more time in case she missed something a small cave entrance caught her eye.

“That’s odd… I would’ve sworn I already looked there.” She mumbled. Shrugging she walked towards it, peering inside, nothing attacked her so she walked in, looking around. The cave was lit up by glowing crystals on the walls, and the rest of the cave went back farther, but she couldn’t see it because it was too dark. Squinting her eyes, and sniffing she couldn’t smell anything or see anything of danger to her. Sighing she was about to turn around when a glowing light from deeper in the cave caught her eye. Backing quietly out of the cave she peered inside to see what it was and there before her eyes was a unicorn.

“Hello. I am an Altra, but you may just call me Altra if you please.” He said quietly as he looked at Vespera. Vespera stared at him, before backing against the cave wall, studying him carefully. He had a long white horn, with a black body and strangely enough there were some green spots on his leg and his mane and tail were green.

Altra fluttered his wings for the first time, and Vespera noticed they looked like butterfly wings, and seemed to relate to the colors of the rest of his body. “I have been waiting for someone like you.” He said quietly, not giving a blink of an eye.
Vespera glared at him before standing and walking over to him, after all he was just a horse, not like a wolf or something could kill her…. She hoped. “Why?” She asked him.

He smiled at her, “Because I only appear in front of travelers, and only travelers who I trust.” He said staring her in the eye. Vespera squinted her eyes for a second, “Why me?” She asked him quietly after a moment of thought.

“Your heart is kind, and you are in need of protection later on in your life, and it is time for me to shed, and that will give you something special, that you will need later on in your life.”

Idea why she uses them as wings: Because of the magic still within them. The magic will only stay there if there on the place where the horse once had them, which is on his back, and since they were wings, now have them as wings now? The horses magic flowed through his body and thus, into his wings as well. Vespera cannot use this magic but she can use the magic to call for help from her pet (her magic horse were she got her wings) from the touch of her horn.
