Belldandy Adopt #77 - Jinx.

What are Belldandy's?
Belldandys, also known as Belldees for short, are a fluffy little pixie horse the size of a small rodent. The Belldee will fly from house to house, normally through a window, visiting little children and infants before they fall asleep. Their bells hold a certain pixie dust that brings the little ones good fortune and sweet dreams. Belldandy's eyes are always closed, giving them a calm, pleasant expression upon their faces. They can come in an assortment of colors, any colors you could possibly imagine. Though Belldee's can fly, it is less common for them to have wings; their magical aura is what helps most to fly. Belldandys eat flower petals and leaves for the most part, anything else they eat would consist of an assortment of berries or grasses. One thing they love especially, but is so rare for them to come across is tea. They are obsessed with it and will stop dead in their tracks if they see a cup of it sitting on a table or stand. Lots of people leave tea out at night to try and spot the fluffy pixies.

My first belldee as an official artist. I'm so excited ;w;

      short  story >

The fire burned brightly over the edge of the hill, illuminating the night with it's harsh glow. The dappled belldandy was disorientated, lost and separated from his herd amongst the chaos. In a haze of panic, Cherokee had turned and ran in the opposite direction of the fire. And now, none of his herd could be seen.

His legs were shaky from the running and he was breathing hard as he fixed his eyes on some twinkling lights in the distance. Using his last ounce of strength, Cherokee pushed himself forwards towards those lights. He slipped through the gate was relieved to find himself in the garden of a small cottage. Weary and tired, he made his way to the catflap and nudged it open, slipping through into the warm comfort of the house. There, he promptly curled up under a bouquet of flowers and fell asleep.

He was awakened by a female's voice.
Cherokee opened his eyes to see a young girl gently prodding him in the side. Alarmed, he shot up.
"Hey, you're okay! A real, living Belldandy in my own house!" the young girl said, face filled with awe. "You guys drink tea, right? Here-"
The girl disappeared for a moment and then returned holding a mug. She placed it down by Cherokee and smiled. Gratefully, Cherokee took a drink from the cup. Though he was still concerned about his herd, he felt refreshed and energised and was slightly more relaxed.

"My name is Alana. I live here with mum. It's a little horse ranch," the girl said while Cherokee drank. "All of our horses here are branded, and I guess that means you have to be too!"
Cherokee froze, looking up in alarm. Alana laughed.
"No, don't look so scared. It's not the traditional sense of branding. Come with me!" she said, offering a hand for Cherokee to climb on. He trotted over tentatively and she scooped him up. Alana took them to a stable out the back of the cottage. There, buckets of blue paint lay scattered over a table. Alana gently set Cherokee down and smiled.

"See? It's only paint," she said, dipping one finger in the bucket. "Do you mind?"
Cherokee observed the scene for a moment before promptly sitting himself down and shaking his head. Alana grinned brightly and drew a small circle around Cherokee's eye. She sat back for a moment before dipping her entire hand in the paint and putting a small handprint on his hind.
"There! All done," she said, wiping off her hands with a satisfied nod. "Welcome to the family!"

A very nice Belldee, but I don't feel very connected. So I'm marking to see who the winner is ~

Rushing Maji (Means Rushing Water in Swahili)
Gender:
Male
Short Story:
Rushing Maji wasn't the bravest of warriors to help his fellow Belldandy's in battle, so he never really earned his marking. All his friends received their marking for showing bravery in battle but poor Maji wouldn't go near such a thing. He'd rather stay near the village and watch over the children, they thought of him as their guardian. Maji wanted to be peaceful and live his life in harmony with the children. But that's when they were ambushed, when everyone was in their beds sleeping the night away. Their enemies were plotting an attack, the only person up late that night was Rushing Maji. He was busy making surprise gifts for the children, to show how dearly he cared for them. He had lost hope of ever earning a single marking, his fur left bare and dull. Rushing Maji had just finished fastening the last doll together before hearing the thundering of footsteps. He stood up quickly and peeked outside, there upon the hill was the enemy rushing down at the sleeping village trying to take them by surprise. Oh but their calculations had over looked a certain Belldandy, and his name was Rushing Maji. Maji called out to his brothers and sisters waking them from their slumber. Soon every villager was up and ready to battle, the enemy was taken aback as the villagers made a counter attack that shook the ranks. The enemy fled back into the night never to be seen again. After that the chief of the village awarded him with two markings. A blue circle around his right eye to represent his observation skills and a blue hand on his right flank to represent his generous nature. If it weren't for Rushing Maji the villagers wouldn't have survived, after Maji had earned his markings the villagers had a great feast. Maji surprised the children with gifts of dolls and finely sewn quilts saying, "Peace is much greater than any battle move, it provides warmth and happiness for all who accept it."

Username: pterodactyl
Name: Sylvester (sometimes referred to as Syl)
Gender: Male
Short Story:
The forest outside this house is unruly and harbors many forms of strange life unknown to the outside world. Some say that there are magical species that bestow gifts on the unwary. Luck, fortune beyond your wildest dreams. But that's not why this family moved into this house. They didn't want to encroach on nature, but rather escape the urban society that so threatened to pry the family apart. They had lived here for five years before strange things started happening, but they weren't strange enough for the mother, father and daughter to notice.

So, they kept on living there and like many other humans, they dropped into series of patterns and habits. One of these was in regards to breakfast. A cup of tea must sit on the windowsill every Saturday. You could have mistaken it to have been a rule of some sort, if you didn't know why. It had to be a porcelain china cup and saucer, the very finest from their city life. Of course, the tea was made fresh every Saturday, a piping hot cup of Earl Grey with a tiny scoop of homegrown blueberries. You see, the human child knew about the forest creatures. She had a wild imagination, but she couldn't make up anything about Syl, the Belldandy, and his favorite things. She knew everything about her best friend, down to the colors she painted him with.

During the week, her mother worked odd hours and the girl was at school. Saturday was the most special day of the week. The mother and daughter reunited every Saturday for the entire day. First thing to do Saturday morning was to put the kettle on. Her mother would brew a steaming hot kettle of Earl Grey tea and have a cup with her breakfast. The girl's mother poured her daughter and husband a cup as well, but the little girl never liked the bitter, lemony taste. So, she snuck her's to her room and sat it on the windowsill. A few hours later, she might return from her chores or playtime or homework to see the glass entirely emptied out, little blueberry-purple tongue stains marking out every last drop.

Sylvester eventually took to sitting on the windowsill during the week, giving the girl good night kisses on the nose. Her father tucked her in before Sylvester showed up, but the girl refused to sleep unless she got good night kisses. Eventually, Sylvia grew fond of the human child, refusing to leave the girl's side. Having made an unspoken pact of friendship between Belldee and human, the little girl smushed a blueberry in her hand, and gave Syl his "friendship marks", or rather, the circle and handprint that Sylvia promised to never wash off, cross his bell.

The family packed up and left unexpectedly. Ever since then, Syl has been trying to find his playmate and the same strong blend of Earl Grey with Blueberries, but to no avail. Sylvester has grown more curious of humans and still peers into the window, hoping for his family to return.

But for now, we return to the home. It is Saturday again, and the same cup with the little purple tongue stains has been packed in a box in another house for awhile now. The family has moved away, back to the city and it was sufficient. The mother found a more regular job and can now be the one to give her daughter kisses. Outside of their previous home grows a bush of blueberries. Perhaps someone dropped one, one of those years ago. In any case, Sylvester hopes it is, as he takes another mouthful, staining his tongue purple once more. He remembers the taste of Earl Grey with a spoonful of blueberries and sighs, content with the nostalgia of what used to be.
