╯Story; Mara squeaked as her owner gently set her down on the doorstep, quietly shutting the door. She sniffed the air, pawing at her sky blue bowl of cat food. Everything was filled with endless noises and scents. Raising her tail high, she trotted down the steps to the sidewalk. She seemed to think that she owned the world as she stalked down the path, batting at a passing butterfly. Suddenly, a pair of huge leather shoes came down right next to her. She mewled in surprize, jumping out of the way. Mara clambered up to the top of a great silver machine beside her house and cleaned her whiskers, trying to regain her composure. Her eyes widened at the sight of a pair of blue machines zoomed down the hard, black path. What is that black stuff? she wondered, carefully scooting down the front of the machine and back onto the ground. She stared with utter concentration at the strange black path where the machines roamed, trying to figure out what it was. Ever so slowly, she reached out a paw and tentatively poked it. There was no reaction. Again, she pawed at it, becoming more bold as she discovered it was solid and harmless. Proud of her discovery, she pranced out into the road. Out of nowhere, a white machine sped around the corner. The human inside was grooving to the music he was blasting and didn’t see Mara. Everything seemed to fall into slow motion. Every single fur on Mara’s pelt stuck straight up as she sprinted to the other side. She buried herself in a bush of crimson flowers, shaking in terror. Peeking out at the sidewalk, she discovered that there were more human dens, or houses as her owner called them. Warily glancing back and forth, she walked out onto the sidewalk. “Hey pretty kitty! What’s your name?” A human girl of about age twelve ran towards her, holding out her hand. Mara stood her ground, unsure of what to do. The girl reached down and began stroking her. Mara felt a purr rumble up from her throat as she nuzzled the girl’s hand in delight.
Mara woke up, yawning. She flipped the covers off, springing up. The first light of dawn was coming through the windows. It would be so weird to be an actual cat! she thought, slipping into a pair of shorts and a t shirt. No one else was up yet. She quietly sneaked out the back door, hopping over into the fence and into the oak forest for another day of adventure.
