Everyone knows that some things in the racing business is kept on the down low,
such as the use of nurse mares. Well Iykan was born to a mare who was destined
to raise a foal of a racing mare. only moments old the odd colours filly was torn
away from her mothers side and shoved into a trailer. on spindly wobbly legs she
managed found it very difficult to keep her feet under her as she was taken far
away from her mothers warmth and affection. she was abandoned and left to die.
but against all odds the little filly was found by a woman with plenty of experience
raising foals. she was taken in and nursed back to health. Iykan grew to be a very
strong mare. she had beautiful muscling and just for fun she was taken out on the
track. Iykan loved to run and proved that she had what it takes to run with the
same horses that her life was nearly sacrificed for. She is not a champion that will
be running at grand derbies but she is a fun track pony for training young jockeys.

Auction her off. Those were the first words Lullaby ever heard. She was born prematurely to a prize mare, but there were complications and the mare died. Her owner would have killed her, she was just to much trouble, and looking at her made him grieve of his lost companion, but he couldn't bring himself to kill the offspring of his mare. She was stuck in a trailer, just a few hours old, jostled around for what seemed like an eternity, and thrown into a grungy, dirty little stall that already had a horse in it. The strange horse was a beautiful bay, and they soon became friends. "I'm Maysie," she said. In that short time, Maysie became a mother figure to Lullaby, who still had no name. "What was your dam's name?" She asked. "Rainbow's Soothing Lullaby," she replied in a shaky voice, which was trembling as much as her tiny body. "And your sire's?" "Far, Far, Away." Came the timid reply. And so Maysie combined those names and called her Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Lullaby. She was officially called different names over the years, but she was Lullaby to any who asked.They were bought as a pair, because they had been advertised as mare and foal, which technically was true, but that didn't mean they were related as most humans inferred. Their new owner was a rich family that wanted a horse just to have a horse. The family got bored with their horses, and sold them. Lullaby went from being a shy little foal to a wild animal at her next home. She was abused there, and had a growing mistrust of humans. Maysie died there. The stress was just too much for the older horse. Lullaby was broken when Cottonwood rescued her. She was grieving. No one could touch her, clean her, do anything to her, and she had to be tranquilized to be treated. They nursed her back to health, and Lullaby is more trusting of humans now. She is currently being sold again, but she doesn't know that, because it would ruin her fragile trust of humans. Maybe her next home will help her be the amazing horse that is truly in her.
