Story: Certainty definitely needs to live up to her name. She was one of the clumsiest foals ever to roam the earth, stepping in rabbit holes, falling in streams, getting her mane or tail stuck in thorn bushes... You name it, it happened to her. There was one incident, though, that Certainty still looks back and shudders just thinking about it. It gave her one of her worst fears: heights.
It had started out a beautiful spring morning, the air crisp, the sun shining, not a cloud in the sky. Certainty had wandered over to the corner of the meadow where there was a thick grove of oak trees, tripping no less than three times. These trees were ancient, trunks thick around as three adult horses bodies and branches as wide as her own. A squirrel chattered a good bit up the tree, where the branches were at their thickest. It was practically daring the young filly to climb up after it! It just so happened that the branches to this particular tree formed a sort of stairway to the part of the tree that Certainty wanted to reach.
She tentatively placed a hoof on the lowest branch. It held. She then started climbing, gaining more and more speed with surprisingly very little slips. That should have been a stop sign for the foal, but she kept going. When she finally reached the point where the squirrel was, she stopped and looked down. The ground loomed before her, and she started trembling as she stepped onto the next branch down. Certainty's aim was off, and her hoof slipped, causing her to scramble back onto the branch. Somehow, she ended up with four legs dangling in the air. She screamed for help, and after it finally came it took hours to get the poor filly down from that tree.

Story: once when she was a foal and she was running around with her family and her heard, she fell in love with a cute little colt called Tovanaro. Once when she was hanging around just eating grass with her mother Tovanaro was captured by horse rustlers . She searched for hours and hours for him, separating herself from her herd. She was never able to find him, she still searches to this day

Story: Dusk was a loner as a foal, she wasn't disliked she just wasn't really picked up as a friend by the other foals. Dusk preferred to sit alone, listening to the sounds of the forest beside the paddock and thinking. She was much less wild than the other foals, though she was an adventurous one. One day the owners of the ranch decided to take the foals for a walk down the first trails. They wanted to get the foals used to the noises of the woods so they would be calm for trail riding. Many of the foals were alarmed by all the noises, Dusk loved it. She had never been in the forest before but she had always dreamed of it. It was winter so there were not as many birds but there were other wonders. Icicles upon trees, the little ponds covered by a glittering sheet of ice, the twinkle of the snow on the pines. They were taken back home later that day, Dusk couldn't get the beautiful images out of her head. Suddenly she heard the foals chuckling, she looked about and saw that they had found a fallen pole, a prefect spot for them to jump over and escape the paddock. Dusk walked over slowly and stood behind the others. They were daring one another to go into the woods at night, many of the foals said yes and jumped over the fallen part of fence. Dusk was worried so she followe them, as they trekked into the woods, Dusk noticed the wind getting stronger and tried to warn the others but they wouldn't listen. They were about halfway down the trail when the foals agreed to go back. They started back and the blizzard that had been starting when they left, was getting worse and worse. Soon they had no idea were they were going. Dusk found the courage to yell at the other foals, " STOP! We are only getting more lost....follow me" she added more slowly. Instead of panicking and rushing about like the others, she went slowly. She saw the pine tree with that odd crooked branch, it was a little ways of the trail. Slowly but surely, Dusk used these signs to get them back on track and home safely. The owners were worried sick as they had come out to check the horses and realized some foals were gone, the second they saw Dusk leading then foals from the woods they knew what she had done. The other silly foals would never have found their way in such a storm. Dusk earned her show name and a whole lot of respect that night. She doesn't being it up often but when she does she feel proud every time.

story: The monster above her roared and sent chills down her spine. The fumes that drifted from it were hotter than the already blazing Nevada air, and with the sun beating down on her and her legs barely functioning anymore, she was finding it more and more difficult to keep up with the herd. Her mother, only a young mare with her very first foal, wasn't even looking back out of curiosity as to the whereabouts of her daughter. The sooty filly screamed at the mare to slow down and let her catch up, but her voice was lost to the wind, the helicopter blades easily drowning her out. She had to stop, she couldn't continue any longer. Exhausted the filly felt herself slide to a stop in a small gully that the rest of the herd ran straight through. She could barley see them through the dust their thundering hooves kicked up. She could only hear them. The foal dropped down into a shady overhang near the dried up creek bed, and let the cruel lullaby of her retreating herd and the hot desert sun lull her to sleep.
When she awoke again it was pitch black out. Not even the moon lit up the desert to where she could navigate the terrain, a task made almost impossible considering her eyes were filled with dust from earlier. She voted to continue to lay there, even if she was hungry and parched. She just didn't have the energy. That's when unfamiliar footsteps were heard through the gully, and the photographer and her family picked her up, put her in their car, and drove her to the nearest town with a vet.
