the thundering footsteps sounded in the street above me, loud enough where i felt as if they were going to run past me at any moment. in my arms, i cradled a smaller kia, her fragile body shaking as the fears of what could happen destroyed her thinking mind. surrounding me, other girls crowded together, some sitting, some lying down in the fetal position. sometimes, i considered abandoning this life- for there was always the option to do so. though the constant feeling that tugged at my stomach was always there when i had these thoughts, leaving me to disregard any idea i had of leaving. this country was my home, no matter what my mind told me.
after i was separated from my siblings, i did not know what to do with my life. though after a lifetime of fighting, i wanted to do something different, something that could help others live a better life. wip
