Story:: (Sorry if it's a bit much ^-^')
Mince, as he was named back then, used to live/survive in a torture house of sorts. There were a group of people who thought Iquena were messengers of the devil, bringing death and misfortune. They began capturing any Iquena they could find, bringing them to a abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere, and tortured them in any way they could. The Iquena they found were kept in rusty cages, taken out every minute or so to get lashed, cut, electrocuted, and whatever else the humans could think of. It was always worse when a human was angry about something. They were only fed enough to survive, but most died anyways. Some Iquena tried killing themselves, although they would never allow it.
Mince was one of those Iquena. He was treated like the rest until a new girl came in. She was against Iquena too, but when she and Mince's eyes locked, he could see something in there. Something, special. That was the day Mince's whole horrible life changed. Suddenly, he was pampered, as he saw it. He was fed a bit more, hurt less, all because of the girl. She was in charge of Mince, (who she renamed Mint) and everyone else was too busy hurting innocent Iquena to notice.
Everyone except the Iquena themselves.
They hated Mince. They called him names like Princess, and Traitor. They always tried to attack him, and of course this didn't go unnoticed. The humans then put them in fights, Mince versus any Iquena. He was beaten up bad, but he usually won. He would have to endure multiple fights, at least 5, before he was put back in his cage. He would have bled to death if it weren't for that girl. After the humans went home she cleaned his cuts, bandaged him, and came back earlier than everyone else to take them off before anyone noticed. It was going good, until the day.
Mince sat in his cage, waiting for the girl to come and take off his bandages. She was later than Mince remembered, but he was sure she would come soon. Except she didn't. Soon it was minutes, than minutes turned into an hour. The door opened, and Mince's hear soared. But something was wrong. The footsteps were heavier, slower. The Iquena who were closer to the door whispered things to the ones next to them, until Mince's neighbors were staring evilly at him, grinning. Mince manged to squeak out, "W-what's wrong?" And his cage mate laughed. "Time's up, pretty boy." Then he turned his head to the human coming down the hall. Mince was shaking. It was the girl right? She was going to come, take his bandages off, kiss his head and tell him, "You're such a good boy. Don't worry Mint. I'll get you out of here." She would hug him, put him back it his cage, and everything was going to be alright, right? Right?
The human was turning the corner. As it came into view, Mince's heart sunk into his stomach. It wasn't the girl. In fact, it was the mean alpha male, the leader of all the humans. As he looked at Mince, he froze, and slowly, slowly, his face twisted with anger. He rushed over, opened Mince's cage and pulled him forcefully out. Mince was scared. What was he going to do? But no, he stopped, and laughed making Mince shiver. He put him back, and still staring at him he growled, "Hope. That no good traitor, she's going to pay for helping these things. He turned and walked away.
It was after morning feeding that she arrived, She ran in panicky, and gasped when she saw Mince in the alpha's hands. They had taken his bandage off, so forcefully that he has patches of fur missing. "No!" She yelled, and ran after him. The alpha nodded and two humans tied her hands together, then made her sit down on the floor. The alpha put him down too. The alpha barked, "This is what happens, Hope! These are demons! They must be killed! But no, you treated one with kindness. Since you don't know what you're supposed to be doing, let us show you." He nodded to other humans. "Let them out." They walked over to some Iquena's cages. Ones that were infamous for being strong, or just particularly hating Mince the most. They took them out, and put them in a ring nearby. They put Mince in there too, and instantly the other Iquena circled him. They forced the girl, who Mince guess was Hope, to walk over an watch. Watch his final moments in pain.
The other Iquena laughed. They called him his names, spit at him, lashed out at him. Suddenly, they all leaped at him, biting and trampling him. He thought he was going to die, but the alpha called them off before they could kill him. They sat at the other end of the ring, blood stained and growling, as Alpha pulled him out. He threw him on the floor, and whistled. The other humans got to work, lashing him, kicking him. The alpha even took it upon himself to tear his wings from the bone. Hope was crying out his name, tears running down her face. The Iquena yelped and howled happily. Mince could feel it. Finally, it could end. He closed his eyes, but found he couldn't fall asleep. He opened his eyes, and the humans were still kicking him, but he didn't feel any pain. He got up. He was a ghost. Mince sighed. His journey wasn't done. He walked over to Hope, who was still crying out mint. Mince layed on her lap, and watched with Hope as the humans realized he was dead. The alpha growled, "Good riddance." and walked away as the humans untied Hope. "I-, I'm sorry Mint..." Mince licked her cheek and said, "It's Rinato now. And don't worry, It's okay. All I ask is that you promise to avenge me, shut down this horrible place, and I promise to help and protect you. Just call out." Hope looked around, then smiled. "Alright, I promise... Rinato." Rinato tilted his head. Had she heard him? Never mind. He smiled too and walked away from the bad memories. His new life, or death, just began.
