Their Dream:
It's yellow eyes were locked on mine and I could feel the blood pumping through my veins as panic surrounded me. The sky was a deep blue colour, lined with glorious orange, red and pink. The creature was huge, its large eyes watching me intensely and its claws digging into the soft dirt in front of me. I was bent over keeping as close to the ground as possible, watching the wind ruffle its feathers. Fear held my lungs in a firm embrace and the warmth of the day seemed to seep away as the first few stars started peeking out. It was unwavering watching me with an intensity I couldn't grasp and finally I locked eyes with it. It squawked happily and pummelled me over, covering me in darkness and nipping at my back. I waited for pain to fill me but I only found a warm sensation travelling over my back making me feel warm and itchy at the same time.
After what felt like forever the eagle moved off of me and squawked again its eyes warm and excited once more, confusing me. Needing to survey the damage I stood up to feel a heavy weight weighing me down. I turned my head towards my back to find beautiful wings hanging from it and awe filled me. I had wings. the eagle squawked again, reminding me of it presence and shifted from one leg to the other in impatient manner. I slowly lifted one wing and then the other testing the weight and movement. It was amazing, it seemed like the weight should have been uncomfortable, but it wasn't, i fact it made me feel whole and alive. Slowly I spread them out flapping them slowly and then smiled up at the eagle in anticipation.
The dark brown eagle let out a high pitched squeal and i could feel the winds picking up. Hundreds of eagles surrounded us, nuzzling my sides and urging me into a take off position. I pinched my eyes closed spread my wings and started flapping. The air beneath me picked up and the birds urged me forward, sending me into a sprint and suddenly i felt my feet leave the ground. I was in the air. Slowly I opened my eyes as happy chirps and squeals surrounded me. I was truly flying.
I flipped and twirled and raced with the eagles until my wings felt like an extension of my soul. It was unbelievable, glorious and awe inspiring sending me into a euphoria i couldn't dream of explaining. The light faded away and the rest of the stars joined us in the sky until the darkness even blocked them out and i found myself in the light. I blinked a couple of times feeling an emptiness set in when i realised i just woke up from a dream.
