Short Story
As a young mako, Violetta always liked diving. It was one of the only things she enjoyed doing. One day, she decided to go near a coral reef. It was full of fish and was very colourful. As she watched the fish go, she spotted something silvery on the sand. It was a necklace, she realised; it was a beautiful silver necklace in a shape of a cross. Violetta swam closer and picked it up. As she put it on she felt a strong urge of power that this necklace would always bring her luck whenever she wore it.
The next day, she wore the necklace again. Violetta went diving again, and searched for shells to make necklaces with. Usually, she could only find a few, not even enough to make a whole necklace but today there were shells all over the place; and even pearls, which Violetta only found about once in a year. With an astonished gasp she looked at the necklace, and it seemed to be shining brighter than usual. The necklace had brought her good luck, after all! As Violetta began to collect the shells she felt so pleased than ever before.

Hobby
Violetta likes diving. She often explores around lost wrecks or coral reefs, and loves watching the fish and the beautiful scenery. Violetta will collect shells and even pearls from the areas and make them into necklaces which she often gives to friends as gifts. She has a special connection with the sea, like most makos.

Kailani is a beautiful, energetic, fun-to-say name that
means 'sky and sea.' This name was chosen because
it represents this semi-aquatic animal well.
The sky represents the land animal side,
while the sea represents the aquatic side.
For Kailani, the sky also represents the original
owner of her lovely purple pattern; the zebra.

Just two of her nicknames branch from her official
name: Kai and Lani. She is often referred to as Seabra
by her close friends. This is a strange name indeed,
unless you understand it. The name is meant to sound
like 'zebra' with the 'ze' replaced by 'sea' since this
mako loves water. Thus, Seabra was invented.

Lani wears a zebra necklace around her neck. She also likes to wear long purple ribbons in her mane, so that it appears striped.

those endearing yet peculiar nouns

Yes, I know accesorization is not a real word, but Lani finds it quite fun to say. It also conveys the message well, and it rhymes with explanation.
Anyway, Lani's accessories were not just randomly chosen, but have specific histories. Her zebra necklace is a treasure she has owned since she was quite young. She found it strung on a piece of coral, and took it home. Her mother explained that the creature depicted n the charm was a land mammal called a zebra. Thrilled with this new treasure and new piece of knowledge, Lani decided to keep it. She also loved the fact that its pattern matched her own, except it was colorless.
The ribbons were something Lani added later in her childhood, when she was equivelant to the age of a 12 year old human. Throughout those early years of her life, she had learned more about zebras, which quickly became her favorite land animal. She found that it had a striped mane, and her friend had made a joke about this.
"Lani, the only difference between you and a semi-aquatic zebra is that your mane isn't striped," the friend had cheerfully commented.
Lani had laughed along with the rest of her friends, though took this comment into consideration. The next day, she showed up to meet her friends with purple ribbons twisted into her hair. "What's the difference between me and a semi-aquatic zebra now?" She laughed. From then on, she kept the ribbons. That moment was also the birth of her nickname Seabra.
