Name:
Kayona
Age:
4
Gender:
Mare
Height:
14.2hh
Personality:
Kayona is a shy and self conscious mare. Most of the other wte's stay away, as they think she is way to strange to hang around with. Of course, she has a deep love for babies, and has adopted every orphan she has ever found, so she has many "children", who love her to death.
Art:
This was done on gimp. It took about an hours time.
What is she based off of?
This beautiful WTE is based of a lionhead rabbit. To be exact, a tortoise lionhead.
I know you love genetics, and I THINK this is the tortoise lionhead rabbit gene: aaB_C_D_ee
She has half for and half wool.

What do you like about her?
She is so unique! I am partly sure she might be based of a rabbit, and I am a rabbit lover, so it would be the coolest thing ever to own a rabbit based horse! I plan on making more art of her, and maybe finishing a large history. three of my 6 wte's have large histories. I plan on writing histories for all of them when I get a chance.
How many WTE do you have?
6. 4 adopted, 2 breedings. I got my first WTE ever Aug, 2013. You don't even know how hard it has been, staying in my limits of ten, by stopping myself from entering certain WTEs. I have been just waiting for that "special" WTE, and I am positive that this is her!
History:
Kayona was the outcome of a crazy gene bomb. She was born in the middle of the winter, during the night. Instead of leaving the herd to foal, the mother stayed quite close by. She was worried that the newborn would die from being cold. She was the only mare that had not had a foal in spring, and was the only mare who was having her baby in the winter. Her mother was quite petite, and the other mares in the herd loved her dearly. At an early age she was kicked out of her childhood herd, and the new herd adopted her without a single question, loving her bright green eyes, and kind nature. Little did they know, that not 4 years later, this mare would be having the most amazing and unusual foal ever known to the whip tail species. The mares stared at Kayona's shivering body on the light blanket of snow, but she was not helpless to the winter's cold. She had a damp, 2 inch long coat that had the texture of wool, covering half of her body. Her mother licked as much as she could of Kayona clean. Kayona just lied their, and over time the other mares and her mother started getting worried about her. She was breathing fine, but she seemed to be lifeless otherwise. They all stepped closer. Her mother did not fret having the other mares so close to her newborn. Instead, she let them do what they could. Some of them walked up cautiously and nuzzled her, while others just stared at her gentle face. Finally, Kayona opened he eyes. They stung and watered from the bright snow reflecting back at her. She closed them again and made a small whinny sound, she was hungry. At that moment, she lurched herself up and stood on all four feet. The mares jumped back in surprise. Kayona looked steady, but once she tried to lift a foot, she lost balance and landed with a thump on the snowy ground. She tried several more times before she got anywhere. When she took three steps without falling, she was very proud of herself, but was reminded by her growling stomach just what she was standing for! Food! She looked around at the mares, so many... who was mama? No need to look long, as soon as she caught the gaze of her mothers big green eyes staring out her proudly, she made her way over and nuzzled her side, being rewarded with a full stomach!!
The year passed for Kayona quite quickly. It was strange for her, not only because she was the only horse in her herd with the half wool coat, but also because their was no other horses her age. They where either six months older, or six months younger! Because of this, she grew mature very quickly. She stayed by the older mares sides, and learned from them. The one problem was that when is got hot, she would have to rest and drink more than all of the other mares. The one and a half year old colts and fillies where annoyed by this, and would glare at Kayona whenever she looked at them. It seemed to her that they had unlimited running energy, and a great skill to stay cool when the sun was high. The younger foals where different. Kayona had a passion for young WTEs, and played with the babies of the herd. They would gather around her at night, and cuddle in her soft wool, which had grown long over the year. They would have her tell stories, and show her the things that where so interesting to them.
When Kayona hit the age of three, she was ready to leave the herd like all of the other three year olds did. The other mares greatly dreaded this day. She was a very loved filly, and they loved the help she gave babysitting the foals in the herd! She went around and nuzzled every mare goodbye. She was sad, but she was also ready for a new adventure in her life.
Months passed. This herdless life was not what she expected. She was told by the mares that young fillies like her where taken by bachelor stallions quite quickly. In fact, she had run into a few stallion wandering like lonely beasts, but they all looked at her strangely, in disgust, or even with fright! She had no clue what was the matter with herself, as she was not treated this was in her own herd. It was one day, when she was resting near an stream, that she heard hoofsteps. She pricked up her ears, but did not run. Out of the bushed came a beautiful chestnut striped mare. She stopped once she saw Kayona. "What are you?" she snorted. Kayona replied that she was just any other normal WTE. "Normal? Believe me... you are not normal. You are big and hairy and ugly." Kayona stared at her with shock. Never in her life had she been called something like that. She hung her head low to the ground, and turned her back toward the mare. She felt her heart would break. The other mare saw how much she had disappointed Kayona, and nickered, "Ok, I am sorry. It is just, you... you are covered in... fuzz! That is certainly not normal.... but I will say my sorry, because... that was mean??" The mare hesitated, and then continued, "Anyway... umm... I am Fontle. I am... a... I am adventuring!" Kayona noticed how she sounded so unconfident. She looked back at her and whinnied, "I am Kayona. I am also on an adventure. I had to leave my herd where I was loved, but now I see how horrible and cruel this world is!" Fontle looked shocked, and replied, "No! This world is beautiful! I have seen so many things and I have only been roaming for four days!" Kayona dropped her head again, "I have been wandering for three months." Fontle looked shocked once again. "I guess that I will never find a herd and family with this stupid wool on my body." Kayona nickered quietly. Fontle walked closer looked at her coat, "Actally it is... pretty cool?" Kayona could tell that she was trying, but it did not help. Fontle went on, "I am so sorry I hurt your feelings! I will tell you what, we will do this aventure thing together, and if I find a herd, you will come with me!!" It was a generous offer, but Kayona was scared that with Fontle by her side, they stallions would not like Fontle either. After thinking it over in the silence of Fontle waiting for the reply, she finally decided that that would be the best thing to do. At least she would have some company. She accepted the offer with humbleness and looked up at Fontle, who smiled with excitement.
It was not long before a young stallion saw Fontle and asked her to be the start of his herd. She smiled with contentment, and immediately told him about Kayona. The stallion seemed surprised, but not in a bad way. He was exited about meeting such a rare horse in his species. When he was her, he immediately knew that this mare would have to be in his herd. They looked at each other and smiled. "I told you!" whispered Fontle.
The herd of young whip tails was like a group of teens. They hung out, had fun, and took riskes. They fled from danger, as this young lead stallion seemed not to want to get in any fights. It went on that the other horses hated winter, and loved summer, and the opposite for Kayona, but they did start to raise a family. Over time, Kayona has found two abandoned or left behind foals, and adopted them. Kayona has never been the same since she was left herdless, and is more self conscious and shy than she used to be, but she loves and knows that she is loved. The lead stallion and Fontle are still her best friends to this day, and a filly from her old herd that she used to babysit also joined her current herd. I guess that it all comes down to, she lived happily ever after!

Brave - Sarah BareilliesBrave - Sarah Bareillies wrote:Everybody’s been there,
Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear
And done some disappearing,
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, just stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is
