A Bit About Me ;;
Hey there! I'm Trollish, or Troll for short. I own one plumerian, Thylacine who I love dearly. At the moment I'm trying out for only one other plumerian, and despite all these competitions going on I still do art of Ty and role-play him (mostly with his romantic interest Michael) regularly. Thylacine's personality is always developing- and it seems like every day I wake up to role-play him I learn a bit more about the character I've created. I'm an artist, writer- and admirer of shiba inus and plumerians- so when this plume surfaced I couldn't help but try. My goal in writing this form is to create a character that you can fall in love with as much as I have while creating this character behind him. So enough about me, on to the form!
Atmospheric Music ;; I listened to this while I worked on this form. It gave my something to listen to while I worked, and it influenced a bit of what his character would be. I find it adds an atmosphere to the form and overall just enhances the reading experience.
Name ;; Hachiko
Nickname ;; Hachi
Name Meaning ;;
Hachiko is derived from the original Japanese name, Hackiō. Hachikō is legend in Japanese culture for being a brave and noble shiba inu who walked his master to the train station every day, where his master boarded the train and went to work. While one day his master didn't return, Hachikō waited patiently for his return and refused to leave the spot until his master arrived back. While unfortunately Hachikō never met with his master again- his bravery and loyalty was immortalized in Japanese culture in literature and a statue that stands proudly outside the Shibuya train station. While Hachikō the original was indeed an Akita Inu (a close brother species to the shiba inu) I chose to refer to him as a shiba inu in this form for the sake of the shiba inu they had to play him in the movie, further making Hachikō a known legend to many, far and wide. I always thought Hachikō was a shiba inu, and when I was little that's what those around me taught me to be true. While I know it's not true now, a part of me will always see Hachikō as a noble shiba inu- even if he is technically an Akita.
Why This Name? ;; For the sake of this form, it wasn't me who named Hachiko, but rather his parents. Read on to learn more about Hachiko's name and how he got it.
Gender ;; Male
Accessory ;;
Hachi wears a dark green bandana with white swirls constantly. He took a liking to the cloth as a child and never got rid of it- it's always been with him. As far as why he continues to wear it after so long, it's more or less simply because he's used to it. That and he thinks it looks nice on him.
Personality Traits ;;
Crybaby | Coward | Lovable | Affectionate | Kind-Hearted | Loyal | Noble | Cultured
Personality ;;
Hachiko, despite his namesake being a bold and brave canine- is actually quite a crybaby. He doesn't mean to be- but he's especially sensitive and gets upset or hurt rather easily. He tends to avoid danger rather than go head-first into it, and while this may seem logical he also tends to beat himself up a bit over it, after all he was named to be bold and courageous. While Hachi's regularly very recluse when it comes to hurling himself into the bowls of danger- his true bravery shows when his loyalty is laid on the line. When someone Hachiko cares for and loves is on the line- he becomes bolder than any hero or villain, and takes risks logically he'd find insane. Hachi is a generally lovable fellow, mostly due to his soft-hearted nature and sensitivity. He's incredibly affectionate and loyal to those who care to understand him and befriend him.
Hachi feels that his namesake was wasted on him, though he's actually quite wrong. When Hachiko needs to be, he's brave and selfless. Though most of the time he's logical- something that keeps him safe in times of danger and protects him from most unnecessary wounds that would come of him blindly throwing himself at any challenge. While most see him as weak, anyone close to Hachiko's heart knows that he's devoted, loyal and truly caring.
The sense of culture Hachiko possesses is incredibly strong in comparison to an average plume and their homeland. Hachi loves all things Japanese, the language, food, dance and stories- especially sushi and cultural music. While Hachiko has never been a good chef or musician, he's always admired those who can capture the beauty of his home country with their various goods and services that give him a fresh scent of home. Hachi enjoys calligraphy as a way to express his cultural admiration- and generally writes poetry or haikus.
Hachiko may seem like a timid, shy fellow to most- however inside his meek exterior is the heart of a true warrior. Hachi is a misunderstood cultural nut with a love for poetry. He's a truly odd fellow, however what were you expecting? After all he is a shiba inu.
Voice + Tone ;;
Oddly enough, Hachiko's voice carries only a slight Japanese accent. Barely notable if you weren't listening close to find it. His voice is a bit higher pitched for a male plumerian, though when he speaks it also holds a soft melody and rhythm- as if everything he said were somehow some part of a large poem unfolding before anyone to talk with him.
Size ;;
Hachi is slightly smaller than an average plumerian. For the most part it doesn't affect him, however he does find it a bit odd to have to look up at almost any other plumerian while they speak. It doesn't bother him too much though.
Poise ;;
Hachiko carries himself more modestly than most, generally with his ears angled back on his head rather than upright. Occasionally he carries his head somewhat more down to the ground- however this isn't often. Periodically Hachi will trip or stumble- more due to getting swept away in conversation or suddenly coming up with an idea for a poem and paying no heed to where he's walking.
Build ;;
Hachi is far more lean that he is muscular. He's actually very fast, though he possesses mediocre stamina at best. He's not very good where tasks of brawn are concerned.
Anatomy ;;
His anatomy is more canine than feline. Considering his design-sake it's only natural. Though some may say he looks more feline due to his smaller size and leaner build.
Diet ;;
Hachiko has a fondness for Japanese food- specifically any kind of sushi he can get his paws on. Insects are fine, sure- however sushi will always have a special place in Hachi's heart- and on his plate!
Quirks ;;
Hachiko periodically talks in rhyme or haikus- more out of habit than anything else. He doesn't mean to, though periodically when he does he has to jot it down for the sake of it's flow or rhythm. Hachi also tends to sit completely still when he sits somewhere for too long, generally when he does this his poise is refined and upright like Hachikō's statue. Sometimes when he does this he leaves civilians wondering whether he's a statue or a plush of some sort. Hachiko is also quirky in how he sleeps. When Hachiko goes to bed at night, he has to walk in a circle before lying down approximately five times. No one's quite sure why five is the number he settles down on- though few really question it. After those five circles, Hachi curls up in a ball and falls asleep. Picture a little shiba inu curled up in a ball snoring lightly. That's a pretty cute image, isn't it? Well that's Hachiko's sleeping arrangement.
Pet Peeves ;;
Very little irritates Hachi, aside from those who are generally rude or insulting- then again that's a common dislike of most plumerians and humans alike. One thing in particular that never fails to set him off is being called weak or a crybaby. While he knows he is, those who pray on the weak always bother him. Again while this is a common pet peeve to have, this is the biggest way you can mess with Hachiko and indefinitely the thing that irritates him the most.
Hobbies ;;
As previously stated, Hachi loves calligraphy and poetry. He can constantly be found writing or coming up with haikus, though he loves other sorts of poetry as well. He also enjoys dressing up- generally in Japanese style clothing such as kimonos. He loves reading as well, and despite his obvious lack of talent in the matter he also can be found painting or trying to cook sushi. He's always admired those who were able to form sushi- and every day he gives it his all to improve and someday become proficient in the art.
Pass Times ;;
To pass the time Hachi can generally be found simply talking leisurely walks to let off steam. He also spends lots of time reading, writing poetry, or simply admiring the scenery. He has a soft spot for gardening- though it's more on the side than anything. While he loves flowers, it's not his main focus as he only has to go out and water his plants once or twice a day for a few minutes. Hachiko's favorite pass time, however, taking rides on the local train. He enjoys the ride itself- but the fun really begins when he reaches his destination- generally a train station near a market plaza- and goes off to investigate the area and shop around his favorite bakeries and diners, along with the typical nicknack shops and the like.

Strengths ;;
Open Minded
Hachiko is very open to new concepts and ideas, and overall really excited to learn and experience new things. Because of his open-mindedness he's met many plumes otherwise he wouldn't have known, and gone places he'd never have the nerve to go. Ironically his open mind has lead him to be just a little bit more courageous and adventurous.
Kind Hearted
There are very few ways a kind heart can be a bad thing. Hachi has a soft spot for children and overall those who are in trouble- and is more than happy to help anyone who may need it. His open mind goes hand in hand with this, and because of those two traits combined he's especially accepting and understanding. Hachiko is the kind of fellow you feel yourself drawn to talking to, and perhaps it's his cute physique that might make you want to approach him- or his vacant expression due to his general daydreaming- however some would say it's his gentle soul that draws people to him.
Loyal
Hachiko's largest strong suit is his undying loyalty. In honor of his namesake, Hachi inherited a share of the shiba inu's loyal nature. Hachi's loyalty is just as strong as any canine companion, and he's always looking out for those he cares for. His loyalty, common times, gives him bravery and strength in situations where he'd need it most to protect those he loves.

Weaknesses ;;
Coward
Hachi has a nasty habit of cowardice in many situations. He's constantly more worried about the ways it could go wrong than any way it could go right. He's wary of dangerous situations, though one might argue that it's more intellect than cowardice compelling him to stay away. Though because of his wary nature he's constantly labelled as a coward. He beats himself up for this more than anyone else- more or less just mental scoldings for not being more bold and outgoing like his original, Hachikō.
Crybaby
Hachiko, because of his sensitivity, is also prone to tears. He seems to cry over little things, however in it's own sense it's kind of cute. He cries sometimes simply because he cares deeply, or because his feelings were hurt- though often times he'll cry because he's happy. Some of his friends joke that they're worried he won't have any water left in his body at the rate he expends it in tears alone- but it's only a joke in innocent fun.
Clumsy
As previously specified, Hachi tends to trip and stumble while walking. This isn't because he's particularly clumsy so much as he has a nasty habit of spacing off and daydreaming about various things, or coming up with new poems and getting distracted by trying to hold them in his mind until he could find a place to jot them down and preserve them. Most would say Hachiko is a klutz, however it's more a misunderstanding than anything. Sometimes Hachi can be found with bandages or small scrapes from tripping.

Hachiko ;;
"Big brother!" Hachiko called after the large, shiba inu-like creature before him. "Wait up!"
"Oh- sorry!" The larger doge stopped suddenly, looking back at him with kind chocolate brown eyes. "Sorry Hachi, I didn't mean to leave you in the dust again." He flashed an innocent smile his little brother's way, knowing he couldn't resist.
"It's alright bro," Hachiko looked up at his big brother- who was quite big indeed- and beamed. "Let's just get home, okay?"
"Sounds like a plan!" Hachi's big brother said, bolting up ahead again and subsequently leaving Hachiko to run along behind.
"Viiiiiiiinceeeeeeeent!" Hachiko yelled after him- running as fast as he could.
You see, when Hachiko was a young baby plumerian he was abandoned by his genetic parents upon the doorstep of a wealthy couple in Japan. He never knew his parents- or his given name, if he even had one.
The crisp fall breeze dusted the small plume's cheeks- billowing his feathers and tugging uncomfortably at the blanket that'd been neatly tucked around him. The small shiba laid in a basket- a small note had been placed with him but since had blown away in the strong fall winds.
Hachi's big, brown eyes were beginning to drift closed, that is- until he spotted the face of what appeared to be another shiba inu before him.
Little did Hachiko know at the time, but the notorious Doge bean
Vincent, who had mistaken the small plumerian for an orphaned shiba inu.
"Hey there little guy!" Vincent chirped happily, hovering over the basket with curious chocolate eyes. "Wow! Such baby, many shibe." Vincent couldn't help but smile- and to the sleeping baby who had just been greeted with the teenager's booming voice, he was rather caught off guard!
The young plumerian cried, shaken by Vincent's loudness- and the doge bean gingerly took the plumerian in his arms.
"There, there- hey you don't need to cry little guy!" Vincent smiled faintly, carefully rocking the child back and forth, though the child wouldn't stop crying. He was reminded of a scene from earlier in the alleys where he called home- a group of men had been mocking a man who cried for being weak and worthless. Vincent's eyes twinkled- he had an idea! "Hachiko." He said flatly.
The infant looked up at Vincent curiously, his eyes full of wonder. His crying stopped for a moment, replaced by idle sniffling.
"I'll call you Hachiko." Another warm smile. A moment of silence fell between them before Vincent nodded- "A noble name for a noble doge."
Vincent took the young lad in, taking him back to his home on the streets, accompanied by his own set of adoptive parents- a set of shiba inus who had quite a large litter of smaller pups to boot. Hachiko was the littlest of all the shiba inu siblings living together, and Vincent was the oldest! Aside from momma and poppa Shiba. Vincent was brave, courageous, silly and cool- and he was always looking out for his little siblings. It's not hard to tell that all his siblings, including Hachiko, really looked up to him. When Vincent had found him, he was only shiba inu sized. However, jelly bean dragons grow to be the size of cows- and Vincent was one big bean! It wasn't long before he was colossal!
Out of nowhere one day, Vincent decided that he had to leave. For the longest time Vincent had been stealing food and various other goods for the sake of their family- but he knew that what he could take simply wouldn't be enough for everyone now that he was so large and needed so much more food. He noticed that he was eating more than he could bring back- and he didn't want to burden his family.
Hachiko was devastated to hear Vincent was planning to leave- however there wasn't much he could do to stop him. The two brothers enjoyed all the time Vincent had before the move together. Hachiko learned English and Japanese from Vincent- and was even taught another language Vincent himself had invented. He called it "Doge Speak", and while Hachi wasn't a fan of the language itself- he couldn't help but use it periodically as a warm reminder of the brother who'd defended him so many years of his life.
When Vincent moved, Hachiko was on the brink of adolescence- and when the time came when Hachi was an adult, he decided to follow in his brother's footsteps and move to America. When he said his final ware wells, he could only wonder how Vincent had done it. After all it was the hardest thing Hachiko ever had to do.
Hachi left for America so as not to burden his family, and- admittedly- in search of his brother Vincent. Though to date he's yet to find his brother, he knows that he will one day.

Friends Not Food ;; [ co-written with Houndiless ]
I wanted a story with the fish plumerian, however didn't know how he'd react or what he'd say,
so I chose to do a co-writing with Houndiless! She'll be using this story in her form for the fish
plumerian, since she wanted to do the same but didn't know how the shiba plume
would act! Normal posts are mine, italics are Houndiless'!
Hachiko had found himself wandering a nice, neat path in the air of midday. It was some pleasant time in the summer, and the humid air clung to Hachi's fur, though he didn't let it bother him. What he was really in the mood for right now was lemonade- and he could've sworn the last time he walked this path that there was a diner he could order a glass at nearby. His green bandana hung loosely around his neck as he tentatively sped his pace a bit- though it wasn't far off he'd been walking for some time and was ecstatic to get something cold and chilling in his system to cool him off.
Parrun had just rolled out of bed, with an abrupt crash, that is, as he landed on the floor. What a delightful way to start the morning. He quickly picked out one of his many wigs, swept his top-hat onto his head and brisked out the door and into the summer scene. He didn't live far from a local diner, and he was rather thirsty as it was. Not to mention a chance to find new clients for his products! So he chipperly skipped towards the diner.
Hachi hadn't noticed the odd blue plumerian practically bounding toward the diner until he met the strange plume at the door. It looked like he was balding- quite frankly, and despite what Hachiko could tell was a wig- which believe me was no task- he felt that the seemingly hairless plumie was already quite odd. Not to say he wasn't right, because he was completely correct in his assumption. "Uhm, hello there." Hachiko greeted hesitantly, still surveying the odd plumerian's form. He noticed the false fin strapped to his back, though his thoughts were interrupted when the other plumerian spoke.
"HEEEEEEY THERE CIVILIAN!" Parrun boomed, his loud voice carrying farther than necessary. "Gather 'roud buoys and gils- because I have merchandise to sell!" He chimed- though he noticed the plumerian before him seemed to want something else. "Was I mistaken? Tell me- what is it you sea-k in talking with me?"
Hachiko admittedly had to take a moment to decipher exactly what the other plumerian, who's name was still a total mystery, had just spouted. Buoys? Gils? Sea-k? Obviously this fellow was an avid fish pun fan. Almost every sentence that slipped out of his mouth was completely riddled with them. It was… like an infestation. And to Hachi, who didn't have too much experience in English in the first place- it made his head spin to have to decipher all these puns. "Uhm, well I wanted to know your name." He said frankly, looking with curious eyes at the odd sales-plume.
"Most dolphinately!" Parrun beamed, tipping his tophat in a gentlemenly fashion. "I'm Parrun, and it's reely a pleasure to meet you! Not even squidding!" Parrun tilted his head curiously at the other plume, "Whale? What's your name?"
"My name?" Hachiko spoke, after deciphering yet again a stream of nonsensical metaphor. "I'm Hachiko, though most people just call me Hachi." The shiba inu said meekly, dipping his head with a slight bow of respect. When his eyes returned to Parrun's he couldn't help but take a moment to again glance at that pesky fin strapped to his back. He could only wonder what it's purpose was- but at the time it wasn't horribly important. "Pleasure to meet you too!"
"Whaddaya say we go inside and take a sea-t?" Parrun suggested, gesturing to the door of the diner with one paw. "If ya don't, ya might feel a bit gillty later. It's not every day you have a chance to meet a guy like me." He laughed under his breath, though he was being entirely sincere. "Whale? If ya think of a better chance- let minnow! Until then, let's go!" Without letting Hachiko say another word, he grabbed the shiba inu by the paw and drug him inside.
"Hey!" Hachi objected- though it wasn't much use to fight it. After all he was still man-handled into the diner and promptly escorted to a small table for two, near the window. Hachiko nervously glanced at Parrun- who had been incredibly odd this entire time. He didn't seem like a bad guy- if anything just a bit of a braggart who takes his fish puns a little too sea-riously. "So," Hachiko broke the silence between them. "What do you wanna talk about?"
"I was gonna talk about your oppour-tuna-ty to purchase a wig or spiffy hat- though perhaps you're not interested?" Parrun let his eyes fall to the table, a small sad expression on his face. "It's a shame, reely."
Hachiko, oddly enough, is quite a sucker for the puppy-dog eyes- and as such couldn't simply let Parrun sit there and look sad. "No, I can buy a hat." Hachi barked cheerfully, his tail wagging a bit. He was happy to think that he could help Parrun out, even if they'd only just met. "I'd like a hat like yours- though maybe with the band across it in a different color?"
Parrun's ears perked- and he instantly broke into a wide, goofy grin- "Whale it's o-fish-al!" Parrun stood abruptly, extending a hand for Hachiko to shake. "You'll never have to worry about salmon else dealing with your hat-related needs ever again!" He didn't wait for Hachiko to extend his paw before grabbing it himself and vigorously shaking it.
Hachi was able to slip free of Parrun's grasp when two tall glasses of lemonade were placed on the table. The waitress looked at Parrun with a small, knowing smile- as if she'd seen the same many times before. Hachiko took his seat again, and glanced across the table at Parrun. For the time being, he was content simply talking a sip of his lemonade and enjoying a moment of silence. Something he was sure wasn't going to last.
"So- what color were ya thinkin'?" Parrun questioned, a notepad in one paw and a goofy fish-print pencil with a large shark eraser on the top in the other one. "I think a deep green like your bandana would really serve a nice porpoise as far as making you look as nice as me is concerned." He flashed a devilish grin, as if looking this fine were completely impossible. "If ya ever need anyfin else ya can always stop by and talk to me about it."
"Sounds good to me." Hachiko smiled faintly, looking over at his conversational partner. Parrun was odd, and a bit hard to understand- but Hachiko didn't hate him. In fact Hachi found him rather funny. "Whaddaya say we meet here again sometime? Maybe over different discussion." He thought to himself about potentially hosting a more civil discussion with Parrun, his small smile became… somewhat less small. He was confident Parrun had noticed it by now, though he didn't mind one bit.
"…Reely?" Parrun was quite frankly confused, "You wanna hook up with… me?" He stared across the table at Hachiko with disbelief before quickly correcting his shocked face with another devilish smirk, "I mean- ah- of COURSE ya wanna hang with me!" He laughed somewhat nervously. "Well, wanna sort trout the details?"
"We can do that later." Hachi finally flashed a full-fledged, heart-melting smile. Seeing Parrun's face made him just light up- to know he could make the odd sales-plume so happy- it just made him ecstatic. However for the time, Hachiko noticed the ice cubes in his lemonade melting and the glass beginning to sweat. "For now, why don't we just enjoy our lemonade?"
"Shore thing." Parrun said, and that's exactly what they did.

Why I Want Him ;;
I've always had a fondness for shiba inus- as well as the controversial Doge Meme. Personally I've always wanted a shiba inu dog to call my own. I own a dog, though he's a pomeranian- and I love him dearly. Ironically the fur colors are similar enough that I'd go so far as to say this plumie reminds me of my dog. My dog's name is Monty, and he has a strikingly different personality than the one I laid out here for you. I love shiba inu dogs in general, though upon seeing this handsome fellow I couldn't help but try. Why? I felt drawn to his design. I love the way he flows- and the pattern on his feathers. He's a gorgeous plumerian, and from owning my only plumie Thylacine I have fallen in love with the species. The fan base is so kind and supportive! I generally only lurk the fan club, though that's entirely my own shyness, I still love seeing the people around there being so energetic about their plumies! I want this fellow because I not only love the design, but the species and the history behind him- the connection I have with him is unique and despite my initial fear to tryout in a competition like this, I knew I had to give it my all. Outright I just love how he looks, his feathers, design, eyes- everything is spot on fantastic. I fell in love with this plume as soon as I saw him, and despite falling asleep midway through I feel like I really got a lot done. I want him because I not only love everything about him, but I worked really hard on my form and got a lot done- I've made a character I've fallen in love with and I hope I've managed to make you fall for Hachiko too.
What I'd Do With Him ;;
I'd do what I do with my plumerian Thylacine every day! I'd role-play him (I'm ironically notorious for writing what have since been dubbed, abyssal posts- they're literate to an extent it's somewhat irrational) avidly with my friends and other new people in the fan club. I'd try to post a bit more often on the fan club myself, while I see others posting all the time I'm really self-conscious about doing those sorts of things. Though quite frankly I'd want to give Hachiko all the love I can manage and love him as much as I have in the 24 hours I've been making this form for him. I'd draw him, and overall just love him and welcome him as my second plumerian.
