Ruto.
Ruto in definition means 'seabearer' or 'lady of the sea' in keltic origin.
Her nicknames are Ruti and RuRu
Her mother gave her that name for the lovely blue coat she happened to have and her love for the sea.
Ruto is also the name of the princess of Zoras in the legend of Zelda Ocarina of time. Zoras are an peaceful race of aquatic humanoids that help Link on his journey in the game. Princess Ruto, also happens to become link's fiance. I believe this name Suites her because as soon as I saw her she immediately reminded me of Ruto, in her design and such.

Ruto was assigned Female at birth but right now is questioning her preference and overall gender. At times Ruto prefer's 'He,Him' pronouns then at other times she prefers 'Her, she' pronouns. When Ruto's in questioning, Ruto prefers 'xim, xhe, xey'. Ruto does not have a set gender and probably never will. Her current preference however is 'she/her' pronouns.
Her sexual orientation differs as well and due to circumstances she is pansexual.

Swimming/Snorkeling/ Diving
Ruto, from a young age, has always enjoyed swimming. she would always prance up to the kiddie pool in her backyard with a cardboard shark fin and pretend she was a character from finding nemo or a cool documentary show she saw on discovery channel. Her mother would sometimes take her to the pier in Sydney, Australia, and allowed her to have diving lessons during summers.
Even when Ruto moved from Australia to California, where she lives now, she still has an obsession with the sea. She continued to have diving lessons and even went on to study sea life as she got older, beginning to want to protect the environment. She now scuba's as a occupation, being an on site on hand nature preserver for the oceans wildlife.

Gaming
Although she prefers to be outside. On rainy days she likes to chill in her room and play multitude of videogames. Most of them her fathers. She plays games all the way from Pokemon to Fable. Her favorite game is Skyrim: Elder Scrolls and a game she is currently is LOZ: Skyward Sword. She is fully aware that her dad probably named her after a character in one of his video games, one she discovered to be called 'LOZ: Ocarina of time' but she doesn't really mind her name all that much, so she honestly didn't care. Her name was almost gender neutral anyways...

Sleeping
Ruto loves to sleep. When she isn't outside, or there's a rainstorm and the powers out so she cant play her games, she will always be found under a makeshift pillow fort asleep, clutching a giant stuffed clownfish to her chest. Her dad teasingly made fun of her for having a stuffed clownfish to sleep with even in her teen years, but she cant sleep without it. She's tried, doesn't work.

Ruto is extremely generous to other plumies. She often or naught helps others and gives food to others in need, even when at times she goes without herself. Her job doesn't pay as much as a doctor or lawyer so sometimes in between bonuses she struggles to make ends meet.

optimistic

Ruto trys to be optimistic about every single aspect of her life. Even if her day goes awry, she will always think forward, and make a positive attitude. though, sometimes it gets kind of annoying to others. though sometimes it can be hard for her to stay positive.

domineering

When Ruto is in a bad mood, she can be extremely forceful and domineering without meaning to. this is a bad trait she has. When she pushes some people around sometimes a push goes to a shove. And she when she's in her worst mood. Can start a fight. Ruto has never won a fight, her injured leg preventing her to stay planted on the ground. But it's because of this trait that Ruto has lost some good friends of hers.

stubborn

Ruto is as stubborn as an ox and everyone can agree. sometimes or mostly its 'her way or the highway' in some situations' Ruto also has a mild case of OCD which adds to her stubbornness to a degree.

Ruto has two friends. One of them she is closer to than the other however. [url]Buziba[/url] is a younger plumie who has PPS or 'permanent puppy syndrome' which makes her smaller than Ruto. Ruto doesn't mind however, and likes to tease the latter half heartedly on her size. But all in all at the end of the day the two are good friends. Ruto is also extremely fascinated by Buzi's hobby of creating fishtanks out of everyday objects. [url]Kasumi[/url] however is a bit different. as an overall guy, Kasumi is a fine person and Ruto considers him a friend but she doesn't know if he considers likewise. Ruto feels a bit awkward being in the same room with him at times and doesn't know how to talk to him without feeling intimidated.


ｈｉｓｔｏｒｙ〛


Ruto was born in Sydney Australia as an only child. Her mother at the time was a part time worker at a small children's water park and her father worked on shrimp boats. From the age of five, Ruto has felt fascination with water. Her mother, gave her a small plastic kiddy pool to play in during the summer months and Ruto found that it became her favorite toy, next to her stuffed goldfish her daddy won her at a fair. Ruto found joy in the moments her mother would bring her to the pier, eventually to receive scuba diving lessons. Ruto was a near natural, of course, learning to swim with the equipment was quite difficult for the little plumie, but as time and practice went by, she eventually couldn't feel the weight anymore.
When she turned ten her father got a job in California, USA, to manage boats outside of beach front in Los Angeles. Ruto was sad to leave Australia but found her home in California, being that there were beaches.
Eventually Ruto was given the option of having scuba lessons again, and she didn't hesitate to say yes. Although the reefs in Cali were nothing like the great barrier reef in Australia, she still found joy in her comfort zone of swimming with the fish.
Eventually she outgrew the lessons and her mother and father pitched in, buying her own scuba gear for her 13th birthday present.

Ruto grew more and more fascinated with sea life, beginning to study it in her spare time when she's not at school, doing homework or diving. With her sparked interest she began to volunteer at the local wildlife preserve for fun. Her friends from school thought she was nerdy for doing it, however. Ruto, being as stubborn as she was wanted to prove them wrong. Her friends then dragged her out to surfing...
Ruto, wanting to prove herself went for the bigger waves, and when one crashed down, it threw her off her board, into a large rock.
Needless to say, Ruto badly injured in her leg. and because of just 'wanting to prove herself to her friends' made her have a limp for life.
Ruto used swimming as a form of physical therapy to get back on her feet. and for a while, or at least until she was 18, she had to use a cane to get around. Eventually, even with that dillemma, Ruto Graduated with flying colors from High school and moved back to Sydney.
She was hired for a job in a wildlife preserve that preserved the great barrier reef, and she couldn't have been more happy.
Now she is living comfortably in her apartment in Sydney. She has made many friends, that are nicer to her than the ones in High school all those years ago. And a couple of ocean friends she has made while pleasure diving. One of them a dolphin she had named 'Duna'.

Ruto watched the tv with fascination, her eyes going wide watching the shark pictures dance on the television screen. She reached out and rubbed the screen a little, her tiny paws tapping the screen expecting the fish to hear from inside. Of course it was raining. it wasn't like she could go outside. her father had asked if she wanted to play a video game, but she had declined, wanting to watch shark week on discovery channel.
Her mother watched warily from the kitchen, tending to baking a batch of cookies for later. She wasn't too keen on having her daughter watch something so violent....shark attacks? Her mother shivered and went back to baking to baking.
Ruto stood up clumsily on her hind legs and planted her face on the screen, "Ruto take your face off the tv it's badfor your eyes" Ruto ignored her mother for a minute watching it like this, finally deciding the glare was bothering and sitting back down dejectedly. A particular rumble of thunder sounded outside and a flash of light flooded the windows. The houses electricity flickering off. Ruto sat staring into the darkness startled. listening as her mom struggled to find a flashlight. After finding one hermom looked and saw ruto wide eyed, staring at the screen where the shark documentary once was. Ruto stood on her hind legs once more, looking at the screen closely wondering where the power went. Another rumble of thunder shook the house and the lights suddenly flickered on, turning on the tv.
Ruto jumped backwards, the image of a shark attacking a sea creature appearing unexpectedly on the television screen. Ruto skidded to the other side of the room making her mother chuckle as she hid under the couch, barley fitting but able to hide her head.

Ruto glared at her friend halfheartedly sipping her strawberry lemonade, her friend sitting across from her at an outdoor cafe. "I like doing it though, I'm not a dweeb" Ruto frowned and her friends chuckled. "it's so nerdy, how do you even have a life? You never spend time with us like this outside of school, we practically have to drag you out of your house to do anything" Ruto shrugged, it was true. But she really was avidly working in environmental studies, that wasn't a secret.
"So what? I'm a drag to have around anyways" Ruto retorted rolling her eyes. "besides its really important to me" "but what about your social status. we cant hang around someone as nerdy as you, its not cool" Ruto glared at her other friend defensively "I'm not nerdy, I'm cool, I just have more important thing to worry about'
"You are the definition of a nerd. Loser even" Ruto growled softly at her, getting ticked. " I'm not a loser for having an interest..." Her friend smiled liking her reaction "Then prove it~ come with us to the surf competition on Saturday and enter with us" Ruto flinched and looked down "But i-uh I've never even surfed why would I?" "Because if you don't that proves your a nerdy loser" Ruto clenched her fists and growled "I am NOT a nerdy loser" "then be there. we'll be waiting for you"

it was there where her memory stops for a bit, remembering pain here and there, and then remembering being in a hospital. Ruto wont remember anything else until three months later.


ｃｕｒｒｅｎｔ ｏｃｃｕｐａｔｉｏｎ〛
Ruto is a wildlife preserver working on the great barrier reef in sydney australia. She has slowly worked towards this goal since the beginning of her teen years. She extremely enjoys her job and its quite noticeable to how much she really enjoys it, usually being that shes at work super early each morning.

Ruto has a pet goldfish named Kyra. then she has a Dolphin friend named Duna. Her dolphin friend, however, she refuses to call a pet considering it's wild. But it always comes up to her and she had seemed to befriend the plumie quite easily. Ruto find's Duna a better friend then most plumies she has met and enjoys scubaing beside the dolphin in the ocean.


ｄｉｓａｂｉｌｉｔｅｓ〛

Ruto has a slight limp due to an accident she had when she tried to surf as a teen. It doesn't effect her ability to swim, in fact, swimming helps it. But when she walks on land the limp is extremely noticeable. At times Ruto never seems to notice it but if shes on her feet in a lab for a long period of time, her old wound will begin to ache.


ｈｏｂｂｉｅｓ〛

Ruto enjoys collecting seashells and tidbits of special finds when she's scubaing on the ocean floor. She owns a collection in her house of up to 1,000 sea shells and fossilized sea life. some of which had been taken to study bat the lab then given to her as a gift for hard work. She started the collection with her father and over the years it grew tremendously. She keeps her collection safely tucked away in sevral places hidden in her aparment including the closet, under her bed, and even behind the tv.


ｑｕｉｒｋｓ〛

her quirks include tapping her paw on the ground when she gets bored, and flicking her ears rapidly. Her teachers in school would get annoyed at her for doing so but at the time she couldn't really stay still. In highschool she was sent out of class for tapping during a state standardized test, not her proudest moment...
She usually only gets like then when she's deprived from swimming for a while however.

Achluophobia

she is extremely afraid of the dark, has been since she was a small child. It all started when a typhoon went through and knocked out the power in Sydney for almost a week. The total pitch darkness had scared her to the bone at night and her father only made things worse by teasing her. Now she sleeps with a dolphin themed nightlight at all times....and she also happens to own a power generator, just in case.

Acrophobia

she doesn't enjoy plane rides, she has a fear of heights. she also doesn't enjoy some rides at amusement parks. When it started, her mom and grandmother took her on a ride on the Ferris wheel and when she was at the top, Ruto felt scared of being so high. The Ferris wheel was also very old and rickety so she swore it was gonna fall apart at any minute. since then, she's preferred to stay on land or in water...

Ankylophobia

ever since she got injured, shes always been afraid that one day her leg would stop working completely.In the back of her mind she knew that as long as she kept working it with physical therepy and swimming, she would be fine. but sometimes the fear pops into her head, mostly when shes super stressed out.
