Avacyn's story began on a foggy October morning. An Equid mare was heavy with her unborn foal, the mare made her way carefully to the perimeter of her home meadow. The herd the mare belonged to had once lived on this land with little interruption from any other creatures, but as time had worn on the humans ever expanding presence had marched right up against the foothills of the herd's native hills. Normally this wasn't a problem, but as the mare made her way toward the birthing grounds she found herself stopped abruptly by a barbed fence. The mares pale green eyes were affronted by the sight of a cleared cow field, empty of any trees or the lush meadows the mare remembered from her own childhood. Given the opportunity the mare would have simply turned back and wandered deeper into the meadow to find somewhere suitable to birth her foal, but as it was the unborn creature within her would not wait. Contractions rippled viciously across the mares abdomen. The mare decided to try and turn back, if only to make it to the cover of the trees. However she realized her mistake too late as loose tendrils of the barbed wire became taught around her rear pasterns. Becoming panicked the mare tried desperately to kick and scrape the evil wire from her legs. Swear dripped down the mares slick hide as the contractions and stress poured through the mares body, forcing her to her knees. The foal would not wait. As the muscles in the mares body strained to the point of breaking the young filly slid to the ground. The nervous mother stood as carefully as she could, turning her rear away from her child in an attempt to keep the wire clear from the little creature. As the new mother quickly cleaned the filly's face she discovered her efforts had been too late; the filly's blue eye had been injured, however her amber eye remained intact. The mare was unsure as to the extent of the damage and instead turned her focus to freeing herself from the tangled wire.

Why She is Blind: Lightning struck. Thunder boomed. Faith startled and ran as fast as she could. She was running straight into a barbed wire fence. She skid to a stop but her eye got poked by the barbed wire and hit her pupil. Faith is now partially blind and her other eye color is brown.(must include something about barbwire)

Why She is Blind: Arabella was a strange equid, she was one with a split personality. One was shy, kind, and loving, while the other was mean, selfish, and daring. She hated the daring side of herself, because all together she was a very clumsy equid. One day she found herself captured and taken into captivity, she didn't hate it but she loved to be free. On that day her daring personality showed and she wanted to get out of captivity anyway possible and so she decided to jump the barb wired fence. Since she was clumsy she didn't quite make it over the fence and found the wire embedded all over including her eye.

Why She is Blind:
This mare, as weird as that may be, was born into a domestic life. Her life with humans, however, wasn't all that nice. She didn't have a proper stable or humans who took care of her regularly - she was simply a nameless object that some got to stare at. Her contact with other creatures was awfully limited, if not non-existent. She would often stalk around outside to try and catch a glimpse of another four legged thing, her walking perimeter marked off by a pole, rope and a fence with barbwire clinging onto it.
Soon enough though the mare managed to break away from that and found herself in the wilderness.
After bumping into a herd that give her a name, Sokoki couldn't quite get the grasp of living in the wild with the constant burn of the flames in her head that weren't there - so she turned herself into the open arms of humans that worked at an equine shelter. There they treated her eyes, where she found out she had Moon Blindness - a constant reminder that the other humans that took care of her didn't even bother to feed her well enough. That, however, didn't stop a small family from adopting her out. Now Sokoki lives a perfectly comfortable life with a family that loves her, from her once brown eyes to her perfectly miss-matched colored hooves.

Why She is Blind:
Living on a ranch Fox, a beautiful lavender eyed mare was frequently moved around to different pins for different reasons causing her to meet many different equids living on the property that she had never met. One morning they moved her carelessly into a pin with an equid named Japetto. Japetto was an old grumpy equid, and he got very protective when feeding time came around. That morning when the ranch hands came to feed Fox and Japetto, Japetto was trying to hog both feeding troughs. Every time fox went to one Japetto fallowed and chased her away. After about five minutes of this back and forth Japetto got so determined to keep both feeding troughs to himself that he chased fox across the pin at full speed. In a panic fox headed toward the barbwire fence and stopped just in time not to hit it. Bucking and rearing Fox panicked as all she could see was darkness, for when she stopped she not only avoided the fence but at the same time managed to kick up dabre into both eyes causing her loss of vision. After a time she regained some of her vision in the right eye but remained fully blind in the left. But she never saw the same again.

Why She is Blind: Honey brown eyes looked over the grass lands, the warm wind swept back her mane welcoming her. There was something off about the far corner, as she had been warned but she knew she must check and be sure of the danger of this new thing... She ran to the new objects coming up in her fields and was there quickly, too quickly, so quickly she could not stop in the time she realized what she was about to run into was sharp. The shining silver bit into her body, pain went through her entire body, tangling and wrapping around her causing her to scream and writhe in the tightness of this biting cruel thing. Something made the world go dark for her and she did not know how long she had slept or what magic made the pain stop, however she realized she could not see out of one eye, it scared her and then she realized that she did not hurt... she saw what she thought was a human approached her and then she understood. She had been saved.

Why She is Blind: One day, when Ava was still young, Ava's herd wandered into a forest. Ava was wandering around trying to find something to do while the older equids grazed. She felt something press against her leg. When she looked down there was this long metal rope-like thing. Of course being a curious little foal, she picked it up and played with it not knowing of the pointy barbs that would cause her so much suffering later. The barb wire quickly got stuck around her head, she starting neighing scared. Her mother noticed and tried to help her foal. Ava tried to get it off by rubbing against a tree, but it only got worse. A barb went into her eye, Ava started screaming. Luckily, the herd hadn't noticed they had been by a ranch and the humans who lived there heard Ava's screams and came to investigate. When the humans showed up the herd bolted, wounded and scared, Ava couldn't run. The humans got a hold of her with some struggle. They quickly took the barb wire off of her head, but Ava wouldn't let them touch her eye. Knowing they couldn't help her and that she was wild the humans let her go. She quickly ran back to her mom sobbing as she went, over the next few days one of her beautiful pale green eyes turned a blind blue.

Why She is Blind: As a foal, Delilah was always a very curious and adventurous little thing. She loved going off with her foal friends or by herself and exploring. New, unknown things always intrigued her. One day her and her little friends had discovered something very strange, a large structure which two-legged creatures were constantly in and out of. They kept many animals fenced in, and the ever curious Delilah couldn't understand why. Her friends were uneasy about exploring the complex and stayed behind, while she wriggled her way between some oddly scratchy wires. Delilah had been heading over to the horse pen, determined to ask just what this whole thing was, when two large canines began barking and howling. Two rottweiler dogs came charging at the intruding filly, and she was forced to abort her mission. She bolted towards the fence, and attempted crawling through again, but found herself stuck in midst of her panic. The filly struggled and pulled, and wrenched herself free, but would end up paying the price. Much of her body had been cut up by the barbs, as well as her left eye. Her once beautiful blue eyes became mismatched, with her left one half-clouded with permanent blindness. It took months of recovery and getting used to, but Delilah now lives a relatively normal life, though she tends to spook if anyone sneaks up on her left side. And of course, she's learned to stay far away from those odd complexes we know as farms.

Why She is Blind: Mirana has been caring of other creatures since she was a foal. So when she heard a distressed scream one night, she just couldnt pass by it. A baby fox was trapped in a pile of human building junk, left behind in thw woods by careless people. Equid tried to help the desperate and frightened creature, but when the fox was finally freed from the metal grasp, it suddenly bolted - and a piece of barbed wire, still clinging onto the fox's fur, bit into Mirana's eye before she could even lift her head from the ground. Trying to set free only made it worse, thw wire tangled around her muzzle, trying to swirl into spiral it was originally. She broke free eventually, but since then she grew blind in one eye - and wary of whom she shares her kindness with. Her white blind eye is a constant reminder of how much effort it will take for her to find her open caring heart again.
