CWHR: Chestnut Thoroughbred Mare w. Halter

Postby teresa8oats » Mon Jul 21, 2014 7:01 pm

Ok, another beautiful but simple adopt. One of the most common colors, chestnut. This little mare is a retired thoroughbred racer, as she was just not as fast as all the others. She needs lots of love, even if she is so simple. You may do whatever you want to your forms for the next four days. Extras are allowed. Enjoy her and good luck!! It is so weird to see the actual original green adopt me sign...

        Name: Millions

Show Name: One in a Million

        Race Name: Golden Chance

Why The Name/s: My horse was one in a million, and this girl looks exactly like him. The race name comes from her bright and bold coat, and is also linked to her theme song.

Theme Song: Golden - The Vamps

        Gender: Mare

        Breed: Thoroughbred - 100%

Discipline: Ex-Racer, now semi retired at WWS, being ridden by Aria on the trails every now and then, and occasionally being ridden by younger riders.

        Age: 7

        Height: 16.1hh

        Color: Chestnut

Personality: Million can't be phased by much. She's a sweet mare, but still holds her ground. She is caring, and considerate, no one gets left behind. She loves knowing many horses. She's not a social butterfly, but loves being well known.

        History:
Where we come from is who we are.

Million was born on a stud farm, racing in her blood, and in her environment.

Sometimes you must work hard and fail, but you must not give up hope, because failure is what grows up.

When she was 3, Million's career took a nasty turn as she was just not fast enough to keep up with the other horses. Million was meant to earn practically 'millions', but she didn't which is generally what happens in the racing industry.

To win you must lose first.

Million lost, but her life was turned around when she was sold to WWS, where she would be semi retired.

        Patience brings happiness.

Million was patient, and in return, she was put out for a spell for six months.

        Spreading happiness is key.

Million was then put back into light exercise, being ridden by young and inexperienced riders due to her calm personality.

Make the most of every day.

Million is beginning to make the most of every day, making new friends and helping young riders to succeed.

Story: My lungs burned as my eyes flickered open for the first time. I could feel my mothers's tongue licking me clean and encouraging me to take my first breath. I was in a bit of shock, and had no idea what had just happened. My mother nudged me, urging me to stand up. My legs were shaking and hard to control as I stood up and flopped back down. My mother kept encouraging me to stand up, and as I finally managed to stand, I went to nurse from her.

When I was older, I was halter trained. My owners put me in a yard without my mother, and I was scared, but I knew that nothing bad would happen to me. I shook a little as a halter was placed on my head carefully, and a rope was tied to it. I pulled on the rope and shook my head to try and remove the halter, but it didn't work. I waited as the human tied the rope to a post, making it impossible to pull away. I stood there for a good 20 minutes, until my owners were certain they had me used to it. They then untied me, but put a rope around my hindquarters, tied it above my back and put it through my halter. They walked on, pulling on the collar and the rope. For some reason, I wasn't scared. Maybe it was because my mother was in the pen right next to me. I caught onto leading quite quickly, and within days, I was leading obediently besides my owners. They seemed to take a liking to me, maybe because I was so willing to learn.

After a long time of handling practice, and adjusting to normal life, my owners began to train me under the saddle. They let me inspect the flappy saddle cloth that they put on my back. But from that point on, my owners meant business. There was no more messing around in the racing industry. I had the saddle put straight on my back, and the girth was tightened enough to keep the saddle on. I was terrified by the thing that was on me, and I bucked, running around the yard. The trainers just let me get everything out, and when I can back to a halt, they tightened the girth up as tight as it would go, and I freaked out. It was terrible, but in the racing industry, the horses have to suck it up and keep going. When I had calmed down, they put my bridle on. But what shocked me the most, was that someone got on my back. It was hard, but I tried not to fuss. The rider was in shock, as I stood still. They gave me a sharp kick and I pigrooted, throwing them off. That will show them.

Months later, I stood next to all of the agitated horses in the start line. I could feel my rider fidget, planting their feet in the stirrups. They stood up in 2 point as they prepared the gates. My chest was full of adrenaline as they called the start.

        'Ready... GO!'

My heart jumped as my rider gave me a sharp kick as I burst off into a gallop, my whole body working arduously to propel myself across the turf. I was in a good spot, ready to overtake for a spot at the front of the pack. My lungs burned as I sucked in fresh gasps
        Image
of air. Sweat trickled through my coat as I thundered past the third and second horse, nearing the leader. My skin stung as my rider slapped me with the whip repeatedly. I thundered forward still, my muscles aching. My nose stretched past the leader's, and my rider urged me forward again. Relief washed over me as I reached the finish line, my rider pulling me back. I heaved, as waves of exhaustion fell over me. The race wasn't as fun as I thought. But we won. It was my first win, and my last win.

My next race, I just couldn't keep up with. I came eighth, and things kept getting worse. Tenth, Eleventh, Seventeenth. So, my owners put me in the sale ring.

It was terrifying to have to trot around the small ring, with many eyes watching. It seemed like forever until I was lead out of the ring. A woman walked up to me, and took my lead from my old trainer. She talked with him for a while, then stroked my neck softly. She led me to a large trailer, with the writing 'Willow Wood Stables' clearly marked on the side. As I chewed some sweet lucerne hay on the drive to my new home, I knew things would start to get better.

I was put out for six beautiful months of rest, and I met new friends in the WWS paddock. I got to know all the horses, and I was happy. I was then brought in to work. Aria talked to me quietly, whispering in my ear. 'There will be a young girl riding you every now and then. Please take care of her.'

Those words meant something to me. Someone to love me. Two people to love me. And I can pass the love through to someone else. Things were definitely better.

        Art: x x x x x x

What I would do with her: I would definitely breed her with my future custom. I would also make lots of art of her, and write stories to go on my CWHR page. She is so perfect, I would just love her to bits. She is everything perfect.

Other: OMG Teresa she looks like my previous boy but in a female form! Eek I love her!

Username: Oh My Gods

Name: Seina

Show Name: No, she does not use this anymore, but it was Haven of the Sane.

Why?: Because of her loving and protective attitude towards people, the original owners figured that it should have something to do with her protectiveness - they had to have the word haven, or heaven within. Also, Im kinda into corpse party right now and have a charrie in a rp named Seina who has managed to stay sane and is also very protective xD

Gender: Mare

Breed: Thoroughbred

Age: 3

Height: 16.1hh

Color: Chestnut

Discipline: Ex-racer, now being taken for small rides on mountains and such for exercise.

Art:WIP

Poem:WIP

Story:WIP

Personality: Seina is a very affectionate horse, with a heart of gold. She never takes more than she needs, and is willing to make a sacrafice if ever needed. She is a genuine giver and is extremely generous when it comes to the times, and is equally loyal. One thing you can be certain of with her;;
You are never in danger.

Why I want her: She is beautiful, for one, and two, I just feel I have a strong connection with this CWHR horse, and feel like I can give her the care and love she needs <3

(I just can't bring myself to finish this, which I guess puts me out of the running. I'm just feeling to ill right now. Congrats to whoever wins. She's a beaut, and I really wish I didn't have to give up, but it just wasn't meant to be.)

And they’ll tell you now, you’re the lucky one.
Yeah, they’ll tell you now, you’re the lucky one.
But can you tell me now, you’re the lucky one, oh, oh, oh...

      owner: Angela McGowan
      friends: Ivory, Spaztic
      rivals: Devil's Daughter
      love interest: Fissure
      personality: WIP

Another name goes up in lights. You wonder if you’ll make it out alive.

story: They had always told her to never let herself get enveloped in the fame and attention racing brought. Never let yourself become a victim of the ruse. They acted like they loved you, but as soon as you failed them once, you were out.

They gave you a minute long inspirational ad on television during the races, and practically shoved you down everyone's throats over the internet. Your name was everywhere, and across the country people were rooting for you, talking about the fiery filly that was sure to beat the entire field of colts she was up against. Her breeding was impeccable. Firebird had heard that last part repeated many times from her stall at the track where she was to participate in her first race. Whenever her name was mentioned, her bloodline was praised, but she heard nothing more. She found it funny that they never talked about her training. The rigorous sessions she'd endured for what seemed like the last eternity were never spoken of. Perhaps if she were as perceptive back then as she was now she would have seen the heavy and quite obvious foreshadowing. It would have been a clear indicator to what her fate in the racing career would eventually be.

However on the day of her first race all previous doubts were washed away as soon as she was tacked up. The little human rituals before the race itself confused her and frankly Firebird found them a waste of her time, and she almost bolted during the post parade. She was ready to go! She was ready to win this! After what was in her time scale forever, they were loaded into the gate, and just as soon running out of them as fast as possible.

Firebird was at the back of the pack almost instantly.

She watched as the other horses began to pull away from her, and she fought to catch back up. Eventually she did, and was jockeying for second-to-dead last with a bay colt as they rounded the first turn. There was still plenty of this race to go. If she fought hard enough she might be able to move up to the front. Her muscles rippled and her hooves pounded along the turf.

Around the middle of the backstretch she still hadn't made any progress, and the final turn was approaching quickly. She realized in horror that she was already starting to become tired. The colt gladly took back his previous spot as she began to fall behind.

Around the final turn and onto the homestretch she began to fall even further behind the pack. She continued to run herself to exhaustion. If she was going to come in dead last, she was at least going to do it with the rest of the horses instead of lengths behind them. She managed to catch up with the bay once again just as they swept under the wire. She slowed down immediately, her legs wobbly, gasping for air that she couldn't seem to get.

Her owner played the miserable loss off as Firebird feeling nervous on her first day. "Every horse has an off day. This was her's. She'll be ready for the next one."

After 5 off days in a row, he'd finally had it with the little mare.

"I'm done! I've invested so much money into a filly that can't even place higher than last for once in her short career!" The man vented, throwing his hat down onto the track in fury. His face was firetruck red, and he looked like he was about to combust. Firebird tried desperately to find a way out, but the groom holding her halter wasn't letting her go anywhere. Her owner looked back up at her. "Get her out of my sight! Erase her from every file we have. Let's just...Pretend she never existed and move on with her lives shall we?"

The groom looked a little nervous. "But...sir. What do you suppose we do with her?" He murmured.

"Give her away to the first person who takes interest! I don't really care! I don't want any money, I just want her gone, cause I am not loading her back into my trailer." The man shouted, flailing his arms.

"I'll take her." A voice stated.

Everyone whirled around to see a girl with curly brown hair and a knee high black dress standing there, obviously one of the audience members who noticed the mare's distress. A tall looking kid dressed semi-nice ran up behind her out of breath. "A-Angela what in the world are you doing-"

"I'll get her out of your sight for you sir. Don't worry about it. Just give me her halter and you can be on your merry way." The girl, Angela, said. She turned around and looked back at the man who had just run up. "Peter, call my dad and tell him to send a trailer. We're taking her with us."

Peter looked like he wanted to protest, but he took out his phone and dialed anyway as Firebird's owner handed Angela a blue halter and stormed away with his entourage.

After hours of sitting on the now empty racetrack, with Angela and Peter taking turns walking her around, they got the call saying the trailer was in the parking lot at around midnight. They walked her off the track with just her halter. Her racing tack was left behind for someone to find and pick up the next day. She wasn't going to need it anymore.

Hours later, when dawn was finally starting to break through the darkness, Firebird found herself in a warmer, cozier stall than the one she was accustomed to. There were plenty of new horses in the stables with her, but they were all asleep. She knew she'd meet them eventually, for now it was time for some much needed rest. She settled down in the straw, and drifted away.

She was awoken by sunlight drifting in through her stall window and very quiet muttering outside the door. She couldn't make out what the many voices were saying, but she had the distinct feeling they were talking about her. Firebird yawned before shifting a little and standing up, poking her head out into the stable aisle to see what was going on. She was met with a pure white mare on her left, a silver dapple stallion on her right, and a large, lighter colored chestnut stallion directly across the way. She recognized instantly that the white mare and the chestnut stallion were also fellow Thoroughbreds, but with the silver dapple, she wasn't sure...

All three were smiling widely. Firebird sighed internally when she realized when she was in the stable block with the three early birds.

The chestnut stallion grinned widely. "Well hello there sleeping beauty. Nice of you to wake up and say hello." He spoke. The white mare pinned her ears flat against her skull. "Spaztic..." She growled. "Remember what I told you about first impressions?" Spaztic laughed. "Relax Ivory, I was just messing around with her for a second." He groaned. Firebird's ears perked up. "Wait Spaztic...Y-You're that racehorse that keeps winning races all over the country, but always falls off the radar afterwards. This is where you retreat to?" She questioned, now very curious. Spaztic gave a little side smile and nodded. "Manteca Creek isn't anywhere near being like one of the fancy stud farms most racers came from, but I like it that way. It's so quiet and peaceful out here....Most of the time anyway. Just enough excitement to keep things interesting, but not enough to make life hectic. Kind of like your arrival early this morning."

Firebird gave a light chuckle. "Well I haven't seen much of the place, but since this is apparently my new home, I should start getting familiar with it soon." She replied, just as 4 figures walked inside the barn. Firebird recognized Peter and Angela immediately, but she also noticed a short red-headed girl and a brown-haired woman in a blue jacket. She wasn't as tall as Peter, but she was slightly older than him and the other two girls. All 4 looked like they were ready to go riding.

Spaztic smiled and looked back at Firebird. "Well looks like the new girl is going to get her tour of Manteca Creek right now. Trail ride!" He exclaimed.

The woman in the blue jacket looked over at the 4 horses and chuckled. "You three making Firebird feel comfortable here. I hope that's what the whinnying I've heard was. Come on.

      STILL A WIP

      current call name: Flight

It was a few years later, I showed up here.
And they still tell the legend of how you disappeared,
How you took the money and your dignity, and got the hell out.
They say you bought a bunch of land somewhere,
Chose the Rose Garden over Madison Square,
And it took some time, but I understand it now.

Barn Name: Persistence
Gender: Mare
Breed: Thoroughbred
Age: 4 years
Height: 16.1hh
Color: Chestnut
Personality: Persistence is a Mare that puts in 101% every time she does anything. Though, she isn't the fast of the racehorses she will try the hardest. She loves getting attention and being in the limelight. Thus, She loves getting her picture token and she always is showoff in front of it.
Discipline: Though she was originally trained in racing she now does some eventing.
History: Persistence was born on a farm that was dedicated to getting the fastest horses. Both of her parent were race horses her sir was a famous race horse named Neverland and her dam named A Spark of Flame was also a talented race horse but wasn't famous or as fast for that matter. As soon as she was born she was the center of attention which explains her want for the being in the limelight and wanting attention. She was the center of attention due to the fact she was the famous stud's foal which is also why her race name was Neverland's Rose. It was a way of showing they believed that she was going to follow in his foot steps. From a young age she was trained to be a racehorse. During her training, her trainer noticed her determination and wiliness to continue. This got her the nick name which later on became her barn name Persistence, it only proved more and more fitting as her training continued. When she was two they were sure she was ready to go into the race and was going to be like her father and be a instant winner. Which sadly wasn't the case in her first race with 16 horse she got 7th place. The ranch owners were all surprised by this do to her lineage and her demeanor. They just thought it a bad race for her but after another year of mostly loses, the ranch owners sold her to another ranch that had horse of assorted disciplines and breeds. Even though she wasn't a racehorse anymore she still thought like one and acted like one. She was always racing up and down the fields. She was also quick to go to gallop when ridden making her hard to ride. After a few month she began to be easier to ride but she still always loved speed and racing. The new owners changed her name The Persistence to endure due to her will to never stop trying to be a race horse. Now in days, Persistence happily lives on the ranch she still does race as times but not big ones as her old owners wanted her to do. She mainly now does jumping or reining. But of course she still loves being on the track the most.

A Bit More About Light
Personality: Light is a very strong horse. Not just
physically, but mentally. She is very positive, and doesn't
let much bring her down. She is very kind and likes to
cheer people up. She can tell when their upset and tries
to make them smile. She is also very intelligent and clever.
Described in 3 Words: |Strong|Positive|Kind|
Favorite Saying/quote: Its always darkest before dawn
Theme Song: Shine Your Way by Owl City and Yuna and Fireflies by Owl City

Image

Her Career
Discipline: Light was a race horse, but is now
retired.
What She Does Now:
Now and days she mainly helps out around
the ranch. She often goes on trail rides. She is also
used as an example horse when the ranch teaches
groups of kids about horses or when the kids are
allowed to brush a horse.

Image
History:
Light was born here at Cottonwood to two race horses. She had racing in her blood. She started training to become a race horse as soon as she turned 2 1/2 years, and started to be ridden at age 3. She started her first races at age 4. By age 5 she had only won 1 small race against only 2 horses. She just could not keep up with the other horses. She stopped racing and started working at the ranch. The ranch staff allowed light to run on their race track so she would still have racing in her life. She enjoys working at the ranch. Even though she couldn't be a racer, she is still very happy, and would not change a thing.

She is absolutely beautiful Teresa. I think the simple-ness of her makes her wonderful. I also wanted to say that the shine your way music video might be a bit odd because it's from a movie. It's the official music video, they just have background scenes from an animated kids movie. Also, certain things about light are based on me, because her favorite quote is also my favorite, and I believe it's true.
