Ronan
What brings out his softer side:
His Grandfather was the one who was there for him as a kid when things were tight and tough. He calls him 'Papi'(pronounced Pah-pee), though.... it's more of a past tense now. His grandfather passed away. The death wasn't too bad, it was more of trying to live without him around that hardened Ronan into the 'bad boy' he is now. He brags a good bit and makes things up, but he never lied or boasted to his Papi, and he keeps his grandfather's old cigar box in his jacket pocket. Sometimes he just pulls it out to take a whiff and feel a bit closer to home. He isn't too grief-stricken about him leaving, just a good bit lost without that father-figure to guide him. He lost his way and he isn't sure what to do about it. He's too stubborn to admit that...well.... his Papi would be disappointed in him.
-3 extras-
-'Growing up'
-'Memories'
-Headshot pic

Growing up
-Childhood
Ronan spent most of his childhood with his Papi. He was a adventurous, bright and active little fawn, bouncing around and full of energy. He loved to chase around squirrels, rake his hooves against trees to simulate markings with his 'antlers' he never really got. When he lost his Papi, he acted tough and said he was fine, and that Papi wouldn't want to see him crying his eyes out like some newborn for it's mother. Though he spent a lot of time just sitting around by himself, uncertain of his life.
-Teen
Around his teenage section of his life, he ended up getting together with a bit of the bad crowd. He became an adrenaline junkie and started to do stunts, get in trouble with the law, and fight over stupid things. It was all to get the 'rush' of it and to get his mind off things. Once he started, it didn't stop. He hadn't expected to get so far gone from what he used to be, but he didn't notice the change at all. To him, he was being who he was, and nobody could say otherwise. He was a bit self-righteous in this and convinced himself that everyone else was just trying to change him, that they misunderstood him and that they were upset he wasn't propriety.
-Adulthood
Upon his coming of age, Ronan started to get angsty, bitter and was always changing out friends, like spare tires. If someone wasn't up-to-date on what Ronan wanted, they were left behind. Loyalty didn't count a single thing, and Ronan only saw doing things for himself. If he didn't benefit, he wasn't going to do a single thing, and not move an inch to save a life. With his treachery, narcissism and selfishness, he ended up mainly alone. He doesn't stick to one place for long and spends most of his time either out doing some stunts, partying, or travelling to a new place.

Memories
Bouncing on his hooves, he raced down through the great, colossus pine trees, their great high tips reaching for the sky, and their flaky bark shed on the forest floor. Pine needles, moss, sparse undergrowth and dead leaves littered his path as Ronan bounded through, kicking up a storm of dirt and debris. The morning's first light shed in through the horizon's trees and lit up his way, the sky already painted soft purples and yellows, the last fading stars on their way to loose their spotlight to the brash and gaudy sun. Looking behind him, his ears flopping slightly with his pounding hooves. Bright blue eyes stared back, catching sight of the senior buck racing after him.
"Now you get back here" Snapped the gruff-toned deer, his grey-brown eyes narrowed in on Ronan. Ronan looked back just as he smacked straight into a tree, his body tensed up on impact, the momentum carrying his whole body into the wooden column. Something had to move, and it was Ronan as he shift to the right and he managed to ricochet off the tree to an angle, gladly, as it saved him a lot of pain. Laying there, he scrambled, but he was down for the count. The thud of hooves and there was the large, burly buck over him.
"Now look what you've done, Ronny...." He murmured, the male fawn looking up at him, his head had a nasty scrape and so did his chest and shoulder. Bark was in his fur and face, making him feel even worse.
"I'm okay...I-I'm okay" He mumbled, holding back tears, the pain stinging. He'd taken worse hits, though he still got a bit teary.
"Ah....what did I say about the crying?"
"Big bucks don't cry..."
"Right, now .... can you stand?" He asked, his warm, rough nose pressing against Ronan's cheek, trying to nudge him up. Ronan's already awkward legs pushed against the ground, but he let out a small bleat as pain became more of a force pushing him back down to the ground. It hurt.... he didn't feel like moving. He shook slightly, laying on the ground.
"Ah.... fine. Lay there" The buck snorted and swung his thick, powerful legs, walking away from him.
"Nngh! Don't leave me!" Ronan started up, kicking his legs and straining to stand, but he wasn't getting much.
"Papi!" He shouted, the buck looking back.
"Get up and walk. Maybe you'll learn some patience..." He stated dryly, not stopping his slow abandonment of the downed fawn. He swung his head back and faced forward again, the red-brown deersert making his way on without Ronan.
"Wait!" He cried and kicked himself up, stumbling and swaying as he tried to follow the older male.
"No. the world doesn't wait. You have to get back up" He growled out in his rumbling voice. He was relatively slow, but to Ronan, it was like he was going a million miles an hour. He pushed himself up and started to walk, at first very jagged in his steps, gasping and panting as he tried to follow, his fragile body sick with pain and a nasty bruise. It wasn't serious, and Papi knew that. He was just teaching Ronan another of his famous 'suck-it-up' lessons. He believed Ronan's parents were soft, lenient, and irresponsible, leaving Ronan to grow up so loosely. He needed discipline and order, not flowers, sunshine, and that stupid trash about dreams coming true and everything being so sweet and magical.
"Papi!" Ronan called, kicking his weak legs until they finally worked enough for him to catch up a foot behind the massive buck. Finally he was back up and moving and Papi smiled just faintly, hiding it though, as he wanted little Ronny to think he was serious. He couldn't have the young fawn thinking he could just ignore him because it was another lesson. The good part about it was that he didn't say they were lessons, and they meant much more to the young male. He stopped and looked behind him, Ronan's scrapes weren't too bad, but he has some swelling on his head from the nasty hit and he looked like he was having issues balancing. Good thing it wasn't a long walk to their spot. He didn't slow or stop when Ronan fell or slowed. He kept up his solid pace and made Ronan push to keep up with him. Finally, Papi stopped and looked at the small stream, dipping his head down and drinking a few gulps, followed by little Ronan collapsing and shoving his face into the water. Papi pulled back his head, his maw dripping with water. While he observed Ronny, he bent his knees and laid down, slightly shifting onto his side as his legs were too achy to lay on. The arthritis was a real butt and that meant he couldn't lay comfortably on his legs. When Ronan was done, he scrambled over and flopped down against Papi's side, curling up on his right side, his left probably too sore to lay on. His small head rested on the buck's shoulder and his blue eyes on the water.
"You weren't going to leave me, right?"
"I'll leave you eventually, Ronny.... when I do, it'll be on my own accord." He stated with annoyance.
"and when you can't follow me, you need to man up and become your own buck, alright?"
"...Just don't leave yet" He mumbled, dozing off, his eyes half closed from exhaustion. The struggle to get here was a bit much for him and his small body. Papi would just force him to muscle up a bit. He'd be able to take the bite of the world.... he wouldn't end up like the others. He'd make sure Ronan had thick skin.

What brings out his softer side:
Watching the small Deersserts play around the neighborhood and at the park. It always brings a small smile to his face when ever he sees or watched the small foals play around outside. He loves watching them and what they do since he was never allowed to play as a child. He enjoys the children approaching him a with wide smiles and joking around with him and even playing with him. He loves how they are so kind and gentle to one another.

Take time to laugh;
It's musc to the soul.
Take time to love;
It's truly enlightening.
Take time to smile;
It's contagious!

I never knew that a smirk or a dimple,
Can make things smooth and life so simple.
Forget the bad times instead of keeping them on file.
Have a fresh start, a heart and a smile!

Any blank slate can cause hate.
But being angry is such a waste.
Learn to lighten up someone's load and not add to the pile.
It's amazing what you can do
When your face wears a smile!

"Don't worry, Be happy" is the song that relates.
Don't talk behind people back and then smile in their face.
When God tells you, you can make it....
Don't dare ask why child!
Just accept each day as a blessing and a smile!

Riley

- What brings out his softer side

As cliche as it is, the one thing that brings out Riley's softer side is his bulldog, Chief. Most dogs can't pull Riley's attention away from anything, but Chief hits him where it counts. That dog has been a part of his life for as long as he can remember, and he wouldn't change it for the world. Chief is his trusted, loyal companion who'd do anything for him, and he'd greatly and willingly return the favor.

- Personality

Riley has a problem with words, he's always saying something that can easily upset someone. He isn't always out to put someone down, or to make them think less of themselves, but that tends to happen a lot anyways. He usually comes across as quite a jerk, someone who doesn't care about anything but himself, and someone who'll do anything just to look cool. But despite his appearance and first impressions, he is very protective of the ones he cares about, and can be very kind when he wants to be. Riley has bad anger-managment issues, and tends to blow his top fairly easily, but feels pretty bad about it afterwards. Another thing though, is that he's really bad at apologizing. It's very rare that he'll ever apologize in the first place, but when he does, it won't be a very good one. He just simply doesn't know how.

- Story

"Come on, Riley! Why won't you come and play with us? I'm sure Chief would love your company!" Riley turned away from his little sister and scrunched his nose in annoyance. "I don't care what chief may or may not want, I don't want to play with that pest." He heard a gasp from behind him, his sister clearly appalled by his response. "Take that back!" She squealed, stomping her hoof on the ground in protest. "I will not!" Riley yelled back, turning around to face her again, "I meant every word of it!" His sister stood there for a moment, flustered and a look of disgust etched into her features. She mumbled and muttered a bit before she seemed to have come up with a reply. "You're lying!" She yelled at him, tears just beginning to spill from her eyes. "Nobody could hate him! Nobody but a demon! So is that what you are? Is that what you want to be?" Riley smirked, "Maybe I am, but what would that make you?" His sister began to sob now, holding tight to the little Chief who licked the salty tears from her cheeks. Riley let out a frustrated yell, but at himself this time, for making his sister cry again. He always seemed to say the wrong things at the wrong time. Riley stormed off, running to his bedroom to scream into his pillow and be rid of his frustration. He stayed in there for hours, and before he knew it, his sister was knocking on his door and asking him to make dinner. 'Oh yeah, mom and dad won't be back for a few hours.' He remembered, "Make if yourself, I'm not hungry!" He yelled through the door, still too grumpy to willingly do his sister a favor; even if it was his responsibility. So his sister went to go make herself some dinner, but twenty minutes later, he heard the smoke detectors go off. 'What did she do this time?' He thought, at this point he wasn't nervous, as those things tended to be fairly sensitive. But when he opened his doors he felt the heat and saw the light from the flames, watching as it spread faster than he would have imagined. 'Oh no…' "Sis! Little sis, where are you?!" He yelled, running out of his room and towards the fire. When he got to the kitchen he saw little Chief barking in a corner where part of the structure of the house had collapsed and the flames were quickly taking hold of it. The dog squeezed under a beam and disappeared, only to start barking on the other side. At first Riley was confused, and then he heard a cough, his sister's cough. He ran up to where Chief was barking and lifted the beam until he saw the dog and his sister, cuddled in a flame-free space that was quickly decreasing in size. "Come on sis, I can't hold this up for long, you can get through can't you?" She shook her head, and then he realized why; her hoof was caught under some debris that she couldn't lift on her own. Chief kept barking, and it was starting to get on Riley's nerves. But then he realized something else; Chief wasn't barking just because, he was barking to bring his attention to something. "Hey sis, can you move back just enough to let Chief get in there?" Riley asked, making sure to keep his voice calm so he wouldn't scare her. "I think he wants to try to move the debris." His sister hesitated a moment, then nodded and carefully scooted back a little. The little dog started moving things away almost instantly. After a while, when their time was more than slim, Riley and Chief managed to pull his sister out and they all ended up safely out of the house. They were battered and bruised, but still breathing. Riley swore to never forget what Chief did, and they've been best buds ever since. All Riley really needed to do was give him a chance.

AND the WINNER is,......

*drumbeats please*

morifarty !!!

You surely surprised me with your form. I mean I was expecting family/pets or hobbies as his softer side, but bees? Wow....I don't even know how you came up with that! Well, congratulations! Also, I like the fact you made him a southern. ^^

Everyone did great but I can't do any RUs since I have a limit on the number for deersserts I make!
