Name: Breaking the Boundaries
Barn Name: Oddity
Gender: Stallion
Age: Almost 5 - Born on the 26th July, 2009
Personality: On the outside, Oddity is a boring average stallion, and nothing really phases him. But on the inside, he's a real mixed bag. He is loyal and faithful, and will try anything with the squeeze of a heel or the mutter of a word. He's one of those horses that will do anything, really. He has not a stubborn bone in his body. That being said, he can spook quite a lot, and once he is frightened, it's hard to calm him down. That's something Aria will have to work on if he will be competing properly. He's a horse you can trust with a secret, because he's a listener. He doesn't pick sides, meaning he is liked by everyone, including horses.
History: Born on a stud farm, Odd was meant to be a draft horse. But I guess he thought it was too typical, because his owners found it very hard to get a harness on him. They began to train him under the saddle instead. They picked up on his floaty gait and amazing movement, and decided he should be a dressage horse. Unfortunately, they had no experience with dressage and decided he needed a home that could help him reach his full ability. He was sold to Willow Wood Stables to be part of their performance horse team.

Story: 'Hey, Aria. We have another horse we want you to ride.'
I looked up from the mess of the stable I was cleaning. 'Yeah?' I looked up at Jack, then continued to turn over the disgusting sawdust.
'He's a new one, nearly 5, and still in training, and we want you to ride him.'
I swiped some sawdust off my brow. 'He sounds nice. Can I see him?'
'Yeah, he just arrived.'
Jack took me to see a beautiful draft cross stallion, with a wonderful appaloosa coat. I stroked his nose softly. 'What's his discipline?'
Jack cleared his throat. 'Dressage.'
I scoffed, bursting into laughter. The stallion jumped as I took my hand off him. 'Him? A dressage horse?!' I bent over and laughed. Jack had to be kidding me. I wiped tears from my eyes as I continued to laugh, but when I looked back at Jack, there was no smile on his face. 'Wait.. you're serious?'
Jack nodded slowly, and gave my back a friendly thump. 'Get tacked up, I want him in the arena in 15 minutes.
~~~
I grasped the supple leather reins and led Oddity into the arena. Jack was waiting for me as I prepared to mount. This draft cross looked ridiculous in the light dressage saddle. I muffled a laugh, and measured my stirrups. 'You don't think he is gonna be that great, huh?'
'Yeah,' I admitted, pulling the stirrup leathers back in place. Jack gave me a quick leg up, and gave the stallion a slap on his neck. I sat in the saddle for a few seconds and relaxed my seat. I then gathered my reins and picked up a walk. It was a nice walk. Collected, and smooth. I collected it further, then extended it. Jack was watching from the arena gate, a smirk on his face. After ten minutes of walking him, Jack finally let me trot. I knew I was going to find out if he was right or now. With the slightest movement of my heels, Odd pushed himself energetically into a light and springy trot. I grinned like a doofus as I rose up and down in the saddle with practically no effort at all. Jack chuckled quietly to himself, and I focused my attention back to Odd again. I pushed him forward, then collected him.
'Do a Piaffe.' Jack called out. I barely ever did them, so how was I to ask a horse I had never ridden before to? I was about to blurt out in protest, but Jack had read my mind.
'He knows what to do. Just ask him.' I sighed and collected the trot again, slowly progressing into a piaffe. I grinned and laughed to myself as he did everything I asked of him. I asked for the walk again, and picked up the reins even further, asking for an effortless walk to canter. I sat up in the saddle as I flowed with his smooth gait. Bringing him onto a circle, we performed a flying change, changing the rein with ease. I looked down at Odd's shoulders, covered in sweat. I sighed and walked him out, even though I wished I could have ridden him forever.
~~~
Sweat trickled down my brow already as I trotted around the arena. I glimpsed the 4 people seated behind the rails at one end of the arena. They were there to judge me. To see if Odd and I were good enough to make the national Olympic team. I could see Jack at the other end. He grinned and gave me a thumbs up. I heard the bell ring and made my way to the gate.
At A, Enter in working trot
I steadied Odd as I trotted down the centerline at a steady pace.
At X, Halt, Salute. Proceed in working trot
I half halted, preparing, and as I sat down in the saddle again, Odd square halted proudly, holding his head nicely. I saluted with my right hand and after a few seconds, bounded straight into working trot again.
At C, Track left. From E to X, a half 10m circle, and from X to B, a half 10m circle.
I pulled the left rein slightly, turning spot on at C, then effortlessly completing the next 2 steps.
...Lengthen stride in trot
Working trot
Moderate lengthening of frame
Circle left 20m rising trot,
allowing the horse to
stretch forward and
downward
Shorten the reins
Working trot
Forward and downward stretch over
the back into a light contact
Medium walk
Free walk on a long rein...

My mind whirled at a million miles a minute as I complete each movement as best as a could.
At X, halt and salute.
It was over. Now, I only had to wait.
~~~
I sipped my morning coffee in the ranch house as I read the news yawning loudly. A sharp tap on the door made me jump. I rushed to the door, finding a post man waiting.
'I have a delivery for Miss Aria Brennan?'
'That's me.' I signed my name then took the envelope. It was from the Equestrian Federation. I tore it open.
Dear Aria,
We are delighted to say that you and 'Breaking the Boundaries' have made it to the National Olympic Dressage team.
That was all I needed to read. I jumped up and down in excitement as I ran to see Odd in his stable.
'Gold medal, here we come.' I whispered.
Poem: Floating, gracefully,
Like a cloud,
The wide open arena,
The silent crowd.
I nudge my horse on,
As the audience stares,
They've never seen a horse like this,
For grace he bears.
His hooves are flying,
Across the arena sand,
I ask for a flying change,
He jumps up,
Then he lands.
And as I slow back to a walk,
The crowd begins to cheer,
My horse has done me well again,
How I love him dear.
Breed: Percheron(75%) X Appaloosa (25%)
Color: Flaxen Liver Chestnut
Markings: Appaloosa
Discipline: Dressage
Dressage {drɛsɑːʒ} a French term, most commonly translated to mean training is a competitive equestrian sport, defined by the International Equestrian Federation as "the highest expression of horse training", where "horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements."
Tack: Set Saddle Saddle Pad Polos Bridle
Other: The reason I put a DOB in there is because on the 26th of July, 2009, not only was it my birthday, but I also decided to give riding a try. I got hooked, obviously. So, I decided he should share his fifth birthday with my riding anniversary. He is truly gorgeous, thank you for the opportunity!
Congrats! Ill add the name shortly ^^
Name: Malcolm
Gender: Stallion
Age: Nine
Breed: Percheron(75%) X Appaloosa (25%)
Color: Flaxen Liver Chestnut
Markings: Appaloosa
Discipline, and picture of tack: This striking stallion competes in Combined Driving - which does involve carriage drving. A vehicle drawn by one, two, or four horses has stages involving dressage, cross-country marathon, and obstacle cone drving.
His tack would be a leather harness.
Extras:
Story: Malcolm was about to be strapped to the cart with his team, Elf, Desire, and Mafia. He and Elf were in the front, being the most experienced, and Desire and Mafia came up the back. He heard Desi complain, "Why do I have to stare at your butts? Not fair." Malcolm snorted and ignored the mare. They all stamped their feet about as their driver finished hitching them to the cart and readied himself. Today they would just go out on a back road, practice some slightly bumpier terrain. Not a big deal. It shouldn't have been.
They started out calm and steady. Halfway through the trail, the driver urged them faster, and Elf and Malcolm lead out the trot. He picked his legs up high and evened himself with the horse beside him. They all fell into similar step. Until, jerking out in front of them, a deer galloped across the road. Had it been behind them, no one would've noticed. But this was before them and in their faces. Desire was the first to react, as she was the most sporadic and newest to the sport. She skittishly threw her head up and jerked forward, trying to run, but slamming into Malcolm. Malcolm, although a calm and more seasoned competer, was surprised and had to fling himself forward to keep out of her way. Elf, in an attempt to keep up and not be dragged behind everyone, cantered forward, not expected Malcolm to stop again. So while Mafia followed Elf's cantering, Mafia and Desire stopped. The carriage pitched and bumped, the driver struggling to regain control.
It flipped over, the handler leaping from it just in time. The weight snapped what connected the team's harnesses to the carriage, and off they went, away from the scary thing trapping them there. As Elf and Malcolm urged the frightened two behind them to return to the handler, Mafia and Desi urgently pulled the other way. Stronger and older, Elf and Malcolm finally pulled in the direction they wanted, with the two drafts nervously in tow.With broken, mangled leather dragging behind them, they returned to a hysterical driver. He quickly fashioned a rope over Malcolm's neck and gently tugged him towards the ranch, telling him they'd get the carriage later. They managed to get to the barn, where he briskly took off the horse's harnessess and released them to the pasture.
Mafia and Desi ran around for a generous amout of time before settling. Even then, Desi paced.
History: Malcolm was a strong and devious foal. He loved to cause trouble. One of his "finest stories" occured on a cool winter day in January. Snow was all over the ground. The young colt went romping through the snow, seemingly innocent. Until he took a sharp turn towards a row of the older stallions or mares. He ran as fast as he could, and sent dragged his back legs against the ground. He went skidding down the line, spraying all of them. Malcolm was, of course, not rewards for the ordeal. The colt got murderous looks and his mother gave him a shove in the other direction. Malcolm ignored her anger, running to his group of friends, whom were all laughing with him. Now an older stallion, the story still gives other naughty foals things to do in winter. And although his friends are not amused when they get sprayed with the ice each winter, he is!
Tidbits:
Born: January 4th, 2005
Crush: Aero
Best Friend: Elf
Friends: Maleficent ; Dancer ; [Genetics/url]
His Team: Malcolm, if driven in a pair or team of four, would have these horses by his side:
Pair - This couple would include Malcolm, of course, and [url=http://www.chickensmoothie.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=2124036]Elf.
Team - This group of four horses would be Malcolm, Elf, Desire, and Mafia.
Future Plans: I will breed him with Desire and Aero. Honestly, he will be a very popular boy with the mares. I will set up some good pairs for him. I may make some art of him, and add him in stories of other horses. I may make a story of him in a driving competition with his team. I will make sure he's given affection and attention nicely. "I didn't like that!" She announced.
"Settle down. Accidents happen. The key is staying calm. Chaos is bad." Malcolm shared a look with Elf and Mafia frowned deeply.
"Well, we could've died. That carriage crashed!"
"Desi, every horse event has dangers. We may think ours is bigger of a danger, but its not. It's just one danger with a big object involved. We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Be calm."
Desire really didn't settle down until later that night, when she felt drowsy and sore from the day. Elf and Malcolm laughed about it when the two had fallen asleep.
"Their faces though! They need to learn to calm down!"
"I know! Mafia almost dragged the cart sideways! He would've if I hadn't moved!"
"Desi almost flipped me over!" Malcolm glanced at the two peacefully sleeping. He was tired himself, and Elf had a droop in his eyes, so he knew the stallion was as well.
"I'm just glad it didn't end as bad as it could've - because, although Desi was overreacting, she was right." Elf eyed him.
Malcolm nodded. "I know. But we are lucky, and should be thankful." He yawned. "I need to sleep."
Elf replied by closing his eyes and practically slumping to the ground. Malcolm snorted his laughter and slowly sank down to the ground as well.
    this life is so simple yet so complicated...
    that it makes people want to leave this earth.
    with their bodies as our only remainder and our
    memories a broken mirror of the past.
    i know you don't remember... but this,
    this place, this riverbank, this broken memory.
    this is one of the pieces of you that you miss.
    this is my broken bliss.
    your name is etched into me.
    i am your walking tribute.
A Champion's Heart
'Champion'
Gender:
Stallion
Age:
8 years
Breed:
Percheron (75%) X Appaloosa (25%)
Color:
Flaxen Liver Chestnut
Markings:
Appaloosa
Discipline, and picture of tack:
Champion takes on an English discipline when he isn't pulling carriages. He's used with one other horse to pull wedding carriages, funerals, fairs, etc. He's used in showing as well and takes pride in his work.
His carriage they use for fairs and fundraisers, etc.
Another carriage he pulls
Another carriage he uses
His Harness for the carriage
English Tack
Bo, the horse he pulls with
Extras
Likes
Champion, like any horse, has some likes in his life. He loves pulling carriages firstly and participating in dressage events. He's quite skilled with it and love to be the center of attention. Of course like any stallion he loves mares. He enjoys prancing around and showing off in the fields to impress them all. Then Champion well loves to be a champion hence his name. He enjoys trying his best to win and impressing judges. He indeed has the heart of a champion. Another thing this big boy likes is relaxing carriage strolls in the evening when the sun is setting with his masters. Lastly, Champion enjoys just hanging out with his friends. It's something he likes to do.
Dislikes
Champion as well has dislikes.. Firstly, he can't stand squirrels. He's been annoyed with them since he was a young colt. He hates it when acorns are thrown at him and the teasing chattering of the small chestnut and grey colored animals. Another thing he dislikes is cars. He though tolerates them as he goes on carriage rides. He does his best for his master and riders even if he has to deal with machines that could easily hit him and his carriage. Then there's bullies. Nobody can stand them so he doesn't either. He can't stand pesky children either. He highly dislikes ones who try to go scare horses and cows. Lastly, this boy dislikes dishonoring his family and losing trust in a friend or his master. He wants to do his best and doing something wrong that shames him, his master, friends, or family hurts him greatly.
Fears
Champion has a fear of thunderstorms and being in a small space for far too long. He's always hated thunderstorms since he was a young colt still attached to his mother. He is as well slightly claustrophobic which is why he can't stand in his stall for too long. If it's at night he can stand it but if not he's restless, constantly moving in his stall.
Personality
Champion has a sweet and kind personality. He's quiet as well and won't make a fuss with anyone unless he's just in a very bad mood. He tries his best to please everyone and tries his best to be a winner in all of his competitions. He's a family-oriented stallion and wants to be involved in a lot of family activities. He was quite the adventurous young colt when he as still stumbling around his mother. He loved to get into trouble and enjoyed being a big troublemaker. He though grew out of it by the time he was a yearling. He was sold at two years to a farmer in Tennessee. There he was used as a logging horse and hauled logs and helped pull plows. Champion never quite understood why he was used so rough in his home. They were always making him work, even when he was tired. Eventually at the age of four the farmer had to sell Champion to a rancher in Virginia. Champion was nursed back into his happy self and worked great for the rancher and his family. He was treated great and was given many treats by the children who spoiled him. Though it darkened when the family couldn't afford to keep him when he was six years. Champion was put in an auction house and was sold to a man who used to live in the city who now lived in North Carolina. He had no knowledge of horses and treated the poor horse terribly. He wasn't abused, only worked too much, underfed, and underwatered. The stallion though only put up with it for three months before he was put in a fair to be sold. He was soon founded by a young girl and her brother who immediately got their father to buy him. He was taken back to Kentucky to their farm, nursed back to health, and treated like a king. Soon enough he met Miss Lady Liberty and fell for the stunning strawberry roan.
