Dixie is the kind of girl that isn't afraid of the world, she seeks out adventure to no avail. She is slightly hot headed and isn't afraid of what people might think or say about her. She strongly believes in karma although she isn't all that spiritual. Dixie tends to accidently block people out, she means good on everyone though. She always ends the day worn out and dirty.

Dixie isn't a total loner, although it seems that way.
She has made a strong bond with a little brown bird called Newton.
He's like her side kick, follows her around on adventure for support and memories.

Dixie keeps an adventure journal, she records everything. When people tell her that her imaginary exploits are pointless, she never feels defeated. She knows the worlds wrong about discovery; she knows she will be a brave soul that kids will read about in awe. She plans to immortalize herself into a series of novels when she becomes too old or worn out to feed her curiosity. There are sticky notes in some of the pages, bookmarking passages. I met a nice bird today while I was wondering through the woods near my home. My mama said I can bring him over for dinner tomorrow. His name is Newton and he has brown feathers and pretty green eyes. He was pretty shy at first but I think we'll be good buddies. I also saw a really cool rock while I was in that cave I found last week. It a blue green color and very smooth. I also saw a bat; that was pretty scary but I got home safely. Today was a good day.

Me and Newton had an amazing time exploring the woods today, I got stuck in a big hole and I had to climb out... It was really muddy. We saw some colorful fish in the stream, my favorite was a big gold one with blue and black spots. Newtone found a frog he liked. We ate my mom's tuna fish for lunch, it's the best. I hope me and Newton go on many more adventures together. I love him.

I am very scared. I woke up today and my mom wasn't here, my aunt was though.
She looked really sad. She told me my mom was gone, but I don't know what she means by that.
I want to find her, Aunt Merry says I can't. I'm confused. I hope to see my mom soon.

It's almost been a year since my mom left. I turned 3 today, Aunt Merry gave me a compass and a real leather messenger bag. I got a fancy looking quill pen from my Uncle Jay and my Grandparents gave me a handmade jacket with a bunch of patches. I look like a real story book adventurer now! I wish my mom could have been here though. Life with my Grandparents isn't so bad, if anything I moved closer to Newton, my Aunt, and my Uncle. There is a dense forest where I go on lots of adventures. My Grandma told me that I'm getting to the age where I can go farther. It was a good day. I saw Newton too, he gave me a necklace with many animal teeth and bones that he found. We at lots of cupcakes, chocolate are my favorite but Newton prefers red velvet.

I'm now 4 years old and about to take on my biggest adventure. I will be heading to the North Star. No one believes I can reach it, but Granny says that is where mommy is. I packed as much as I could into my messenger, Newton is a year older than me and is allowed to go anywhere he wants. We have already set up camp after hours of walking. We made our own fire and cooked up a thing of canned soup I brought. I'm so glad Newton came with.

We made it. No one said we could but we made it. We have been starved out and sore to the bone, Newton doesn't even fly around anymore; he sits on my shoulder. But we made it to the top of a mountain, and waited for the North Star to arrive. It's right above me, I can almost reach it. So close yet so far. I spoke out loud, telling my mom everything. There was no reply, but I could feel she was there. I could feel she was proud. I smiled, and I knew that she would want me to live out my life in adventure. I have decided to return home shortly; but me and Newton will be out in a jiffy to explore the world. This is what I was born to do.
