Yep, they were bred to hunt lions.
My first dog was a 3/1 ration Basenji-Yellow Lab cross, and my Texan grandmother has an old, half blind Basenji named Peanut.
I felt like a Basenji would be the perfect "Symbol" to kickstart a new period of life for my hounds!

btw the first time you see a basenji yawn you crap yourself a little
my first thought when i saw Peanut yawn was "oh jesus i will keep my hand away from that for the rest of my life"

I've seen basenjis before and the only reason I didn't guess them before was that I forgot they came in this color! But then I went stalking through your gallary, found a color-in of on and had the biggest "Ah-ha!" moment, lol! I love these dogs too, and really want one when I get my own house!
