this deerssert is special in the fact that it's basically a custom. the winner gets to choose the theme, and is guaranteed edits, three of which they're allowed to specify.

Hey, everyone, Vulpine (Vulpining) here. So, you're wondering what Subeta is exactly?

The shortest way I can describe it is a PG-13 blend of Neopets and Gaia Online, with some completely different elements also thrown in. Yes, it is a rule that you must be 13 to sign up, although age-fibbers aren't all that uncommon.

There's adoptable pets (with 61 main species and 36 Zapper species, and a variety of colors), customizable avatars, forums, a chatbox, games, site events, quests, battling and a menagerie of other features that I haven't even discussed here.

Essentially, it's a multi-faceted site with a LOT to do. I could play for hours on end and still not get everything accomplished on the site. This is why most users on the site have tried everything and chosen a favorite or two. Eventually, you'll find a niche to settle down in, and a supportive community is always there to help.

The most important things, however, are the annual (and not-so annual) site events, which bring upwards of 2000 users online at once. Yes, this is why you may experience downtime, severe lag, etc.. It's just the chronic 'event' symptoms. Subeta's servers are strained from all that site traffic.

Currently going on is Vesnali, or the Easter/Spring event. In this event, you collect flowers to give to users. After you turn in a flower to a user, you can receive anywhere from 3-7 tokens in exchange for it. Both the user getting the flower and the user giving the flower will get tokens. You can use these tokens in Esther's Shop.
There are other events, some major ones being Morostide (Halloween), Fireside (Thanksgiving) and Luminaire (you can guess which holiday this is).

I bet this all might seem overwhelming and you might be a little confused as to where you should start after earning your first 10k sP. Don't worry, you're not alone!

Here's some things you should do:
Complete the Tutorial. If you think you're better off without it, you might miss something. I completed it and yes, it did help.

Read the rules.
Yes. Read them. Each and every one. It's for your own good.

Read the SubetaPedia.
This handy collection of articles will bring you up to speed on what's what. You don't have to read it all, but it's highly recommended for new players so that you can better understand what goes on as time progresses.

Introduce yourself!
Whether in the forums or in the Shoutbox, we want to meet you! We're a very open-minded community, so don't be afraid to show us your true colors (that is to say, we'd rather not be eaten by a voracious beast, so if you're secretly a blood-thirsty monster, keep your secret). c;

Adopt a pet!
Regular users (non-paid membership) can have five pets, plus a few additional ones, with the purchase of certain items. Gold Account members (paid membership) can have 10+ pets. As I said earlier, there's nearly 100 species to choose from.

Earn sP.
Quests, games, vending machines and restocking goods are all ways to earn a steady and thriving income. It's best to keep a bit of each major currency to stay afloat. (Wizard Tokens, Humming Power Gems, sP and others in the Vault)
