Interacting with a Bunny;calin opened her eyes, the sun shining so bright in her clearing of the forest that she had to squint. she gently stood up and stretched, shaking the cold morning dew off her fur. she greatly preferred to sleep outside, where she could be closer to nature, but it didn't come without a cost to her stiff muscles. sniffing the air gently, she could smell the tang of freshly grown berries. padding over to her favorite berry bush deeper into the forest to grab a quick breakfast, she bent over to take a bite of the first berries she had seen all year. gently pulling the soft raspberries off of the bush with her tongue, she was glad that it was mid june. the raspberries would be out until august, it would be easy to get a quick, tasty meal until then. winter was quite a harsh season for her, food was scarce but she was fine with it - so long as she could be alone out in the forest.
calin's ears suddenly perked up as she heard a loud squeal coming from somewhere to her right. turning cautiously, she saw a ginger fox darting towards her. she was about to run when she realized that instead of chasing her, it was after a litter of young rabbits. their eyes were filled with sheer terror, and calin felt sorry for the poor baby creatures. making a split decision, she charged at the fox. it turned to face her, growling as the rabbits slipped into the raspberry bush. she reared up, showing her sharp hooves and it ran back into the forest not daring to mess with her any more than it already had.
the rabbits crept slowly back out of the bush, clearly also afraid of calin. calin smiled, gently offering them a few raspberries that had gotten stuck in her hair while she had been eating. they slowly approached her, revealing themselves fully to be quite a large litter. one was
pure white, another
peach and white, yet another was
calico, another was
spotted calico, one was
spotted peach, and the last was
siamese. they took the berries graciously, bouncing and playing games around her hooves as if to say thank you.
calin took the rabbits deeper into the forest, looking for a nest they might of been chased out of. she searched everywhere, even daring to venture into the nearest town with them - but all without luck. finally she gave up, and the small rabbits quickly were kept by her side everywhere she went to ensure they would be safe. during the day they were quite a burden, always running off to play. they were hard for her to control! at night she snuggled them up close to her belly while they slept, where even in the coldest of winters they would be warm.
