Well, the most obvious result of his exposure to radiation is his appearance. He glows in the dark, which definitely isn't normal for a deerssert. For a while after the accident, his skin and pieces of him were just kind of falling off. All of his fur and his antlers fell out, too, leaving him bald from head to toe. This seems to have stabilized? Which he is thankful for, because after the cartilage in his nose decayed, he was panicked about losing the outer parts of his ears. He still tries to be careful, because there's no telling how stable his limbs are. As for his dessert... well, just don't eat it, okay? Really, don't. No one's quite sure what flavor it is anymore, and I'm pretty sure you'll come to regret even the smallest sample.

The second most noteworthy result of his irradiation is its affect on his memory. Carcass wasn't this deerssert's birth name. He's pretty sure he had a lovely name, like Alex or James. But he can't remember. In fact, he can't remember his life before the accident, or the accident itself, at all. What happened was there was a test of a nuclear weapon, and while all the humans were safely out of the way, there were some animals caught in the blast. Carcass was one of those poor souls, but none of this is known to him. All he knows is that one day he woke up sore as heck, with his flesh all kind of melted and his fur was patchy and falling out. This was a long time ago. Like, a really long time ago. He must be close to 80 years old now, but he doesn't feel that old at all, and he sadly doesn't remember his birthday.

Beyond his memory, his mentality as a whole has been affected. He's no brain eating zombie, but he's not quite a normal deerssert either. There's definitely something off about him. He is capable of normal conversation - sort of - and he's capable of a range of emotions beyond just rage, but he can be extremely temperamental. He has no patience for others, and can become quite volatile when provoked. The calmer and happier he is, the easier he could pass for a regular deerssert, but any extreme emotion can make him wild and hard to handle. He is strangely territorial - he lives in some underground tunnels that were once part of a subway system, and if someone comes too close he'll attack. Despite this, he is lonely, living without contact from other deersserts, and frequently talks aloud to himself and inanimate objects to soothe the loneliness, but he is too paranoid of others to attempt friendship.

Carcass has gained three strange powers thanks to his irradiation. The first is that whenever he is injured or sick, exposure to more radiation seems to cure him. This is why he lives in the underground tunnels - the water and air there is still pretty heavily irradiated, so it is a safe place for him. The second ability Carcass has gained is more offensive - he is capable of expelling radiation from his body in an explosion-like blast. The radiation not only poisons the enemies, but the explosion severely injures them. Doing this attack wears him out, and requires recharge around a source of radiation. And his final ability gained from the radiation is that, for whatever reason, he is now capable of moving at speeds far greater than any other deerssert. His movements are jerky and clumsy, but he is tremendously quick.

Not that Carcass has much of a dating life, thanks to his strange behavior and appearance, but the radiation has left him sterile. In the unlikely event that he were to find a mate, it would be impossible for them to produce even a single baby. On that note, it would take a lot of effort on the other deerssert's behalf to make him feel anything slightly romantic or sexual, so he is definitely demiromantic/demisexual leaning slightly towards aromantic/asexual. He isn't really capable of romance, though - his idea of a good date would probably include violence. Gender doesn't really have a meaning to him anymore in that jumbled brain of his; he has male parts and that's the only reason he knows his own gender. I say all of this, but really, who would trust a baby deerssert around this guy at all anyway?

In these ways, the radiation seems to have been both a blessing and a curse. Carcass has unique abilities, and he seems to be immortal. However, the changes in his physique, as well as his incredibly unstable mind, have made him mostly unapproachable by other deersserts. He actually prefers the solitary life, but unbeknownst to him, this lack of communication and interaction is actually making his problems worse and worse. A more normal existence would help his decay stop and would help his mind clear, but instead he chooses a life alone where he is safe in his irradiated tunnels. He is content this way, but only because he doesn't have the mentality or the memories to know any better.
