Indent!Oddly enough, Kytera finds herself drawn to the scent of marigolds. Not only do some match her fiery coat, but she loves how the flower doesn't smell overly sweet and 'cliche.' The smell, to her, is pungent, musky and sharp all in one. Whenever her nose catches the scent, a bubble of pure happiness seems to form in her chest. Ky knows that marigolds isn't a common like among equids, some find it repulsive, but to her it is absolutely alluring.
Indent!Ky grew up on the edge of a plain speckled with marigolds. She remembers chasing the other foals around marigold patches while their parents watched from the shade. She also remembers rolling in a marigold patches so the other foals couldn't smell her when they were playing hide and seek. Her favorite memory though, is one she still dreams about. It was late summer, almost fall, and the sun was setting, casting magenta glow on the world. The bugs were chirping faintly in the warm, humid air. A light breeze whispered through the air, tugging at Ky's mane. Her eyes were closed in bliss as she walked slowly through a field thick with marigolds. The air so rich with the pungent, musky scent of the crimson-orange flowers that Ky could taste it. A call from her mother broke her daze, and with a heavy heart she turned and ran back to her herd. Later, she went back to look for that field, but she never could find it a second time.
Indent!Whenever she catches the scent of marigolds, Ky, being the curious equid she is, feels obliged to find the source. Many times she's been chased out of a garden, or away from a critter's nest or den. There is something about the smell that draws Ky towards the crimson-orange flowers, and she can never quite put her hoof on why. Whether it is her plain love of the smell, or the happy foal-hood memories attached to it, Kytera knows that pungent-musky-sharp smell of marigold will always be the one she holds closest to her heart.

This type of scent can vary greatly depending on season, day, or even hour. During dry days the desert smells of dust and choking heat, both of which Samag has grown accustomed to and enjoys. When there is any hint of rain, even the slightest drizzle, the desert releases a lovely, aromatic scent that is difficult to describe. To put it best it is the smell of relief from dryness, of water mixing with the ground to create petrichor, and it puts a wonderful, even if slight, humidity in the air for a short period of time.
At night the desert smells more crisp and is far cooler in both temperature and color. The scent of heat on sand is no longer available, and is replaced with the smell of wind over the sandy dunes. It's a far more peaceful time with a calmer scent, and Samag adores it.
Perhaps the rarest desert smell is that of an oasis. This scent nearly overwhelms Samag, because the brilliant and clustered flora along with the availability of water creates an aroma that is nearly incomprehensible to a desert dweller who rarely sees other life in general. It can be compared to someone walking from a quiet, empty street into a fragrant flower shop, as the strong scent usually takes people aback for a moment. Samag is the same, but once she has adjusted she fully enjoys the oasis' flamboyant aroma and appearance.
So, in general, Samag has an adoration for any scent the desert gives off.
