People first notice that he is Male by the way he talks, acts, and looks. When strangers greet him they quickly know he is Malachi and that he is a bean that others might judge too quickly because of how he looks but instead of what he really is on the inside. They also notice his striking yellow-orange eyes that always seem to be watching or focusing on something, always trying to decode something unseen to others. But they also seem to notice is that he looks more velociraptor than any other bean and they think of him as a vicious predator, like bean a who doesn't care about anyone or anything.

As mentioned above his name is Malachi and he is Male, although he is pretty tough he does have a gentle side to him and he only shows to others that accept him/ are his friend...

Tell us a little more: Desmond works at the Natural History Museum. As an exhibit. No, he is not stuffed or made of wax, nor is he left behind glass all day, but rather as the staff pet. He is owned by the Natural History Museum, and his main caretaker is a retired paleontologist who absolutely adores him. What does Desmond do? Desmond works in the children's section of the museum to put on shows. Once every day, Desmond comes out on the stage and lets the children play with him while his caretaker tells information of long-lost creatures that resembled Des. Desmond loves kids, despite how he looks, and earned the nickname 'Des the friendly Dinosaur' (which he will admit is pretty dinky, but he copes with it). The Museum purchased Desmond from a laboratory that was closing down for good. The scientists there had discovered some flesh of a velociraptor that was so well preserved that some of the DNA was still alive. They wanted to try and bring dinosaurs back to life since they had this wonderful DNA sample. The scientists had at first experimented with chickens, but then found that since dragons are more related to dinosaurs, that they should try it with Jellybean Dragon eggs. They dabbled with the DNA of five Jellybean Dragon eggs, but only one survived. That egg was Desmond's. Once word spread around that the Lab had a Dinosaur Dragon, Desmond became quite coveted and people offered to pay millions. But when the Lab shut down, they decided to sell him to the Natural History Museum for a much lower price than others had offered as sort of a 'gift'.

One of Desmond's favorite days at work: A crowd of children sat anxiously for the daily stage show at the Natural History museum. The flyer taped to the entrance had advertised a 'Dinosaur show', and that was what the children were looking forward to. Suddenly, the lights dimmed and a tropical ambience filled the air. A man in a paleontologist digging suit came out from the right of the stage and bowed. In his hand was a long, thick, silver chain that extended behind the fake plant scenery and out of view. "Welcome, little dino hunters!" He said, smiling into the crowd of children, "Are you here to see the dinosaur?"
A wave of excitement swept over the crowd of kids, they all yelled, "Yes!" All of them, that is, except a small, mousy blonde haired child who stared reluctantly at the chain. He had never been a fan of lizards, reptiles, or even dinosaurs. Ever since seeing Jurassic Park at the age of four, he had been terrified by the fearsome creatures. He had been dragged here by his two older brothers, who ironically loved the colossal lizards.
"Alright then." The man on the stage said. He tugged on the chain lightly twice and whistled. "Des-Des, it's time to come out!"
There was the muffled sound of clicking claws on wood. The same sound that dogs made with their paws when they crossed a wooden floor. Then, from behind the fake plant-like scenery, a muzzle appeared. A brown, stripy, furry muzzle.
'Furry?' thought the small mousy boy in the audience. 'I thought dinosaurs were scaly!'
Then, the creature moved out to reveal it's whole, pony-sized body. At the end of the chain, attached to the collar around it's neck, there was a real live dinosaur! The little boy clung to one of his older brother's arms, hoping that it's piercing amber eyes would not land on him. But wait, this dinosaur was strange… Though he looked like the dinosaur called a velociraptor, he was standing on four legs like a dog!
The keeper waited until the creature was standing right next to him before saying, "This is Desmond, the friendly dinosaur!"

Desmond shook his mane and growled in a low, intimidating way, sending a surge of terror and awe through the crowd of children. He opened his jaws, exposing his sharp, shiny teeth and made a loud screeching noise. The children all covered their ears with their meaty little hands, some yelled excitedly, others screeched right along with him. The mousy boy thought to himself, 'He doesn't seem
friendly at all!'.
The man on the stage patted Desmond on the head and said, "Do not be frightened! Desmond just likes to play!"
'Yeah, play the murder game.' Thought the boy.
"Now, I must admit, Desmond is not a real dinosaur. Sadly, all the dinosaurs died away for unknown causes, but scientists think that it was a big, big, meteor. Desmond is what is called a Jellybean Dragon-"
"We have one of those at home as a pet!" Interrupted a small girl in the back of the audience.
"I bet you do!" Said the man. "And dragons are the closest living relative to the dinosaur!"
A wave of 'oohs' and 'awes' swept around the crowd.
"Desmond is special, because a few years ago scientists found samples of velociraptor flesh that was so well preserved, that there was still living DNA inside. First, they infused the DNA with chicken eggs, and that made the baby chickens look prehistoric. Then, they said, 'well, if it works on chickens, why not dragons?"
The children sat captivated by the story, some eyeing Desmond with awe,
"So, they purchased Desmond's little egg, and dabbled with his DNA, and boom! Desmond the velociraptor dragon was born!"
The mousy child clung to his brother's arm tighter. He didn't like this 'Desmond'.
"Desmond is really kind and friendly, and he will prove it! Desmond will now choose a member from the audience to be his volunteer!" Announced the man.
Children cheered and called to Desmond, trying to get his attention. Desmond's amber eyes flicked from side to side, viewing each child with consideration. The tall blonde one? What about the stout red head? No. They wouldn't do. Suddenly, Desmond caught sight of a small boy trying to hide behind his enthusiastic brothers. Desmond hopped off the stage, and the trainer man let his chain go slack. The mousy boy tensed, he felt Desmond's decisive eyes home in on him. He prayed that the dinosaur monster would pass, he hoped that those terrible claws would just pass him by. But no. The pony-sized dragon stopped right in front of him, and sat down on his haunches, flicking his tongue. The boy whimpered as his two brothers pushed him forward. The furry goliath sniffed his forehead, and nodded.
"Looks like he's picked somebody!" The trainer said from up on the stage. Desmond nudged the mousy boy in the shoulder to encourage him up to the stage.
The boy was shaking, he had never been so afraid in his life. He wanted to cry. He wanted his mom. He wanted his dad. He wanted any one, anything, to be anywhere but here.
The blinding stage lights flooded his little corneas, he could feel himself jittering.
Desmond was confused and a little sad, because he had never met a child who was this scared of him. He just wanted to show this one that he was good and that he wanted to forge a friendship. He nuzzled the kid in the arm, but that didn't seem to help. Desmond looked up at the trainer and nodded. The trainer nodded back and picked the mousy kid up and placed him on Desmond's back. Desmond made a cooing noise to assure the boy. The boy's shoulders relaxed, and he gripped onto Desmond's neck. Children cheered, and Desmond trotted around like a pony with the boy on his back. After about thirty seconds of this, Desmond let the boy dismount and hug him. The boy said shakily, "T-thank you d-dinosaur for not e-eating me."
