What's this? A chimera? Well drag me backwards, bet you guys weren't expecting that!
Of course I ended up mixing two of my favorite coats together, because I think they gave a pretty contrast.
Note that her foals will not inherit the chimera gene, they'll get just
one of the colors.

Equid's Name: Nadia
Behind the name: The name "Nadia" is derived from the Swahili word for rare (nadra) and the Swahili word for beauty (uzuri). In African legends, the name Nadia is said to be one of the highest treasured names, and it was only to be given to those known for exceptionally rare beauty (such as a king cheetah, or an albino lion). Any creature deemed worthy of the name was to be kept safe and held in a permanent position of royalty.
Age: 4 years
Gender: Mare
Height: 13hh
What causes the chimera mutation? The chimera mutation is caused by the merging of two or more fertilized eggs. The resulting animal can then be a mixture of two different blood types, colors, or even genders. In the case of a chimera, the animal will have two different DNA patterns.

Equid's Name: Ortha
Behind the name: Orthrus was a two-headed brother of Cerberus in Greek legend. He loyally guarded a herd of red cattle until he was slayed by Heracles. As Orthrus was male, I feminized the name for her. c: I felt she exemplified those "loyal unto death" traits while still being (maybe) a little... shall we say, 'two-faced', being a chimera? xD
Age: 6 years
Gender: Mare
Height: 13hh
What causes the chimera mutation? It's the merging of two fertilized eggs. A bit like conjoined twins in humans, but with the result being one animal instead of two.

This horse won the Triple Crown in 1973: Secretariat
