Username: My name is Oddly Shaded, you're more than welcome to call me 'Oddly' or 'Shade'. I own two JBD's at current. And both of them are my children. And I feel it is time for me to welcome a new face to my gathering of dragons. Currently I own Matriz De Azul | #201 and O'mearo | #586.

Name: Aóratos | αόρατος

Nickname: Ratos

Name Meaning: Aóratos (αόρατος) is greek for 'invisible'. There are two reasons behind this name specifically. The first being that as an appaloosa, the horse has a history of being a rare beauty and cherished by Indians. The other is because of his personality (read below for more details here). I choose the greek language for his name because I felt that it was incredibly exotic and rarely used language which I feel as a rare little jelly bean dragon - he deserved something as majestic as himself.

Pronunciation: Ah - or - rah - toss

Gender: I have chosen for Aóratos to be a male because I feel I can get him to fit into my group of JBD's much easier with a male personality. There is more opportunity for me to develop a strong and supported personality for this specific JBD if it is certainly a Male.

Height:

JBD sizes (biggest to smallest):
adult: great dane sized-cow sized
teen: shiba inu sized- german shepherd sized
child: cat sized- bulldog sized
baby/egg: rabbit sized

Aóratos is an adult JBD, and adults usually grow to be from the size of a great dane all the way up to being the size of a cow. Ratos specifically is on the smaller side of the adult growth and is only the size of a large dog.

Sexuality: Aóratos is a hetrosexual. Though he does not 'fall In love' very easily, he is attracted to female JBD's.

Birthday: Ratos is 19 years of age. He was brought into the world on February 26th. He doesn't like to have any celebrations, and rather have his favourite treats with his two closest friends whom happen to be much older than he.

Birthstone: Being born in February, Ratos' birthstone is the beautiful Amethyst. Amethyst is believed to be a healing stone and hold amazing properties. These include:

Home: Ratos currently calls Australia home, he has lived her for the past 10 years while visiting Greece.

Allergies: Aóratos has no known allergies, but can easily sneeze when smelling strong fragrances.

Phobias: Ratos is afraid of many vast things. He is deathly afraid of public speaking, crowds and noisy environments. Although Ratos enjoys loud music, he is comfortable with the fact he can change the volume at any point other than when out in public where the noise is not in his control.

Fears: Ratos created this fearful barrier due to a rough bringing up. Though not to what everyone believes. It is rumoured that Ratos was abused as a youngster. But in truth he was actually in a loving family environment before tragedy struck. One by one, his family disappeared. Before he was left with nothing but the kitten his parents had brought him before they passed. Aóratos does not enjoy speaking of what happened, though he may speak out in a story of their deaths and how he came to be so afraid of everything.

YFS Information: Being a special JBD for a good reason, Ratos has a syndrome called 'Young Forever Syndrome', often called 'YFS'. YFS has 3 different types, including type A, B and C. Lucky for Ratos, he is YFS type A which means he will not develop horns as an adult. Though this does make him different, it makes him unique, and much more desirable than most JBD's.

Other Design Information: Ratos is lucky enough to be based of one of the most beautiful and graceful creatures in the world, a horse. Horses have many different colours and breeds which make them a suitable base for any creatures design. Ratos' specifically is based off a blue roan blanket appaloosa. A very gorgeous combination of markings which create a fantastic look for any creature including JBD's! But seeing as his coat is quite dark, Ratos naturally has a slight personality 'defect'. "Usually, Dark JBDs are less social and/or cheerful than regular, bright-coloured JBDs." - Hiccup
Although this may seem like a downer, it just adds so much more to his personality and makes him such a special JBD, including the fact that darker JBD's are quite rare. Which makes him incredibly special to so many people, including myself.

Theme Song: Ratos has 2 different theme songs. One song he enjoys very much and the other is one I believe suits him more than he will ever know. Ratos' favourite song currently is Join The Club - Bring Me The Horizon. He loves listening to the lyrics of this particular song, and cannot stop humming the tune when he is on his own. The other song which is The Last Stand - Two Steps From Hell. When you first hear this song, the violin is playing a rather fast sound and it comes of as an strong and intense song. This suits Ratos incredibly well because of his anxiety and paranoia. I relate the violin at the beginning to his heart rate beating a million beats a second and his body tensing up as he encounters others around him. The song represents his minds escape, his body's tenseness and the excruciating pain he feels when he is around others.

JBD Companions: Ratos finds comfort in the company of two specific JBD's. He is always unsure of his surroundings but with these two beautiful JBD's he finds comfort. Matriz De Azul & O'mearo. He also enjoys the company of O'mearo's companion Captian - A small purple octopus.

Companion Animal: Ratos' animal companion is a black & grey tabby chimera coloured munchkin cat called Naki which is derived from the Greek word for munchkin - Goutsounáki. Ratos also calls her 'Munchkin' occasionally due to her breed and adorableness.

What's in your pouch, Nico?
Nico: "A mirror, a comb, and a spoon. The spoon is for my ice cream and the comb and mirror are just for grooming. I also have my super secret mustache in there. I keep it because it looks amazing. No one has ever seen it besides me... and I am going to show you it! But you have to keep it a secret..."

Family:
My family consists of me, my mom and dad, my little sister, my grandmother, my grandfather, and my uncle.

~~A bit about my family~~ From Nico's point of view

Sister:
My sister is like any average sister would be. She finds my hair interesting, so she
pulls on it every now and then to see if it's real or not. Of course she gets disappointed
when she finds out that it's real. I know, it's quite hard to believe that I have the best hair
ever.

Mother and Father:
Now they are quite interesting. My mother is a scientist and my father is a soccer player. Quite different in deed. Now, I would be more impressed if my father could tame a lion like my uncle can.

Grandmother and grandfather:
They seem to be a bit crazy... although crazy runs in the family. They enjoy sitting out on the patio, watching the clouds pass by. But when I come along, all they want to do is fish. I've caught a turtle, a crawdad, and one fish so far... and we've been fishing almost all summer. I guess you could say that I'm not too good at fishing.

Uncle Charles:
He enjoys the circus. Working with the elephants and the lions is his
favorite thing to do besides hanging out with the clowns.

Nico's best friend:
My best friend is a squirrel named Chatter. Yes, you heard me right, a squirrel. Now I know that you may be thinking "why would a jelly bean dragon hang out with a squirrel?" Well, I'll tell you why! He's no ordinary squirrel, I tell you... he is the best squirrel in the world. He is the only one who actually gets me. Chatter helped me get out of an empty tub of ice cream when I was little. Here's what happened, I got locked inside the ice cream store. So, Chatter came and stuck an acorn into the lock. I didn't think that it would work at first, but he knew what he was doing. And he actually got the door open! Then he had to get me out of the freezer... it was really cold in there! We were best friends ever since that day.

Chatter: "My friend wants to interview you, Nico."

Nico: "On how I got my hair to be so awesome?"

Chatter: "No... not quite... here, I'll just let you meet her for yourself."

Coconut (The cat): *Walks into the room* "Hello, Nico. I have come to ask you a few questions."

Nico: "Ok, go ahead."

Coconut: "What do you like and what do you not like?"

Nico: "I like ice cream... but I don't like butterflies. They taunt me.

Nico: "Winter. It is the season when ice cream falls out of the sky."

Coconut: "Of course... another question I have is... have you ever seen a horse?"

Nico: "You mean those things with the really long necks and they are taller than me?"

Coconut: "I think what you're describing is a giraffe..."

Nico: "Then is it the thing that humans can ride with hooves?"

Coconut: "There are several things that... never mind... sure. It is. Now, are you scared of anything?"

Nico: "Butterflies. Their the scariest things on Earth."

Coconut: "Sure... what do you do every day?."

Nico: "Eat ice cream."

Coconut: "Besides that..."

Nico: "Well, I go for long walks in the park... and then I go to the ice cream store."

Coconut: "Ice cream store...?"

Nico: "Yeah, the ice cream store!"

Coconut: "Uh... sure... I think I'm done here. Thanks for your time."

Nico: "No problem. Want some ice cream?"




Nico's diary:

Nico: "No! Please don't! That's not my..."
Chatter: "Once upon a time, there was a prince named George. George wanted to play outside, but there was really big wall blocking him from doing so. Because George was only five, he didn't have a magical flying unicorn yet."..... "And I am going to stop reading there... why would you write something like this...?"

Nico: "I... because I like unicorns?"

Chatter: "Right... and George is all you could come up with...?"

Nico: "Yes, is that a bad name for someone awesome?"

Chatter: "I don't see how he is awesome..."

Nico: "That's because you haven't read the whole fairy tale yet!"

Chatter: "So... where's your real diary?"

Nico: "I don't have one!"

Chatter: "You... don't have one."

Nico: "Well, duh! That was what I was trying to tell you from the beginning!"

Chatter: "I give up. You're too weird."

Nico: "I am not!"



Nico's best day ever;; The day he had a strawberry milkshake:

Nico started his day off by going to the ice cream shop. (Yes, in his world, there is one. It's actually called the super-market) He gets two giant tubs full of strawberry ice cream and one tub of vanilla; and just to make his day even more special, he grabs some ice cream cones: Fifteen boxes of them to be exact. Finally, he pays for his items and leaves the ice cream store and drops by his house to place them in his freezer. Finally, he runs over to the milk shake factory (Or as normal people call it; Braum's) and runs into the door as fast as he could. Running up to the counter, he stares at the cashiers for a long time. "C... can I help you?" Asks one of the cashiers. Nico keeps staring at him until his eyes wander to the menu. "What's your name?" Nico asks, still staring up at the menu. "My name is Jake... now would you please just order?" Nico's eyes flash back to the cashier, narrowing his eyes ever so slightly. "Jake? No, that will never do. I will name you Bob." Nico replies, wagging his tail. Jake (Now Bob) looks at Nico, shocked that anyone could be this... odd... "Fine, whatever... will you please order now...?" Nico turns away from Bob. "Fine... I would like a strawberry milkshake." Bob, relieved that Nico had finally ordered, turns around. "Thank you for ordering, it'll be right out..." He says, walking over to the milkshake maker (As Nico calls it). "Isn't my hair awesome!" Nico flips his hair to the side, impressing all the ladies within sight. Bob nods, then gets back to putting whipped cream onto the strawberry milkshake. "That wasn't a question." Finally, the milkshake is here. A strawberry milkshake with a rainbow straw; the perfect thing to end Nico's perfect day.
