Art by MePersonality traits ;; Protective ;; While Rift may seem like the type of sima who's easy to anger and hotheaded, he's actually quite the opposite. Rift usually only gets violent or defensive when his friends are threatened, thus his protective trait. He's always willing to take one for the team and stand in the wake of danger to shield others from harm. He also respects people's choices, however, and won't FORCE them to do anything- there's a line between protective and possessive and Rift does NOT cross that line. People who do are one of the things that annoy him most.
Loyal ;; No matter the circumstance Rift will remain loyal to his friends. This goes hand in hand with his protective nature as he's always there to defend them, however the loyalty just adds a certain depth to that statement. To be loyal is to be a person who's always there when others need you, reliable, strong- these are things people look for in someone who is "loyal" and Rift is all of these things.
Headstrong ;; While Rift is a defensive, level-headed sima he is rather proud of his abilities. So proud, in fact, some would say he's a bit too confident in himself. Rift goes about fights or conflicts with the attitude that he can hands-down handle it on his own without help from anyone else, which commonly gets him into trouble.
Honest ;; Rift is a sima who believes in truth. No matter how hard he tries he simply can't make himself lie to other simas. It's always been a trait of his he's not sure if he likes, or dislikes. When it comes to his friends, sometimes he wishes he could lie on their behalf- however when it comes to other issues he's more than happy to speak the truth. If his friends were really doing something so bad as to have to lie to cover it up, he figures it's probably for the best that their truth is told so they can get help for whatever problem is troubling them.
Brave ;; Going hand in hand with his headstrong nature Rift is bold, willing to take on any challenge and attempt to clear any obstacle. Rift's overflowing confidence gives him the bravery he needs to test himself every day and better himself so that he can handle more of live's challenges that are thrown at him.
Intelligent ;; Rift is constantly striving to better himself for the obstacles in life, and as such is always learning new things. Because of this he's very intelligent, especially when it comes to street smarts. He's mediocrely textbook smart, but has always excelled more in common knowledge than facts.
Resourceful ;; Because of his street smart intellect he's very resourceful, knowing how to use what he's got to solve just about any problem that comes his way. He's especially crafty when it comes to thinking on the fly, sometimes struggling with finding a solution after ignoring his gut instinct or having more time to dwell on it.
Laid Back ;; When he's and his friends aren't in danger, Rift is a very lax sima who's always looking for fun ways to bide his time. Though he usually looks somewhat annoyed he's not quite as he seems. Some of his favorite ways to have fun is to play video games, practice sports (hockey, skating or surfing usually) or just generally hanging out with his friends for a good laugh.
Accepting ;; Rift is one of the more considerate simas in that he's not very judgmental. He accepts simas for who they are regardless of what other simas might consider "wrong" or "strange". Partially because of his own status as an outcast, he's happy to take in anyone who'll have him. He's tolerant of others' opinions, beliefs and sexuality- as long as they're not trying to push their beliefs upon him he doesn't mind at all.
Comical ;; Rift loves a good laugh, especially if it's with his friends. He tries to find the humor in things and makes jokes quite often, however not all of them are all too funny. He rather appreciates witty humor, and cracks a bad pun or two from time to time.

Rift's name comes from the Oculus Rift, a system that makes things on the internet (music videos, games, etc.) seem like reality and puts the viewer (wearer of the Oculus Rift) into the position of the character in game.
Rift doesn't like snow cones. For no reason in particular it's nothing about the snow cone, he's just never liked them.
His favorite subject in school would've hands-down been science, even though it was his worst subject.
Rift sleeps curled up in a ball most of the time rather than on his stomach like other simas.
When Rift was a young child he made small structures using the power of his gem, such as castles in which he'd be the king.
Rift's favorite genre of book is fantasy, his favorite aspect of such being mythical creatures and magical kingdoms.
Rift uses his gem power most of the time for making structures still, such as ramps or rock walls to humor himself. However he still makes a castle or small house-esque building from time to time.
Rift always seems to look a bit upset or annoyed, smiles are rare from him however when he does smile they're sincere and from the heart.
Rift commonly goes by Rift (I suppose you could've guessed that) over Oculus, he just likes how Rift sounds more so than Oculus.
One of Rift's biggest pet peeve is when people say they're going to do something, but then don't or back out. He understands if, per se, they forget- but just flat out disrespecting their word and not doing it? That's crossing the line.
Rift needs glasses to read, but he's especially feisty about wearing them and commonly won't as he doesn't like them- they rub against his ears the wrong way- or so he claims.
He's been a bit of an exile since he was young, partially because of his jewel's power and partially because simas simply perceived him as a standoffish sima who preferred to be left alone- probably because he always looked a bit frustrated or annoyed when others were around.
Rift has a certain fondness of jazz music, he's always seen it as relaxing and envies those who can play it. His favorite jazz instrument is the saxophone.
Rift can't play any instrument, however he commonly wishes he could.
Rift can skate and skateboard, preferring neither one over the other.
Rift has no apparent fears, some say the 'O' marking on his ears and shoulders is actually a '0' for the number of fears he has. Some call him fearless, however the thing Rift fears the most is being abandoned by his friends or being left alone with his own thoughts.
Rift loves long strolls on the beach, the sand between his toes has always been a satisfying feeling to the surfer in him.
The title 'Prince of Stone' comes from Rift's childhood fantasies of ruling over a kingdom made of stone- like the ones he used to make for himself to play in.
Rift's always been a bit odd about confined spaces. They don't really scare him, per se, so much as they bother him. Being a stone-weilder (able to move stones about and such) he's used to simply adjusting spaces to his liking- spaces he cannot control/manipulate bother him because of that.
Occasionally Rift will talk to himself about nothing in particular or converse with inanimate objects, giving them names and personalities to mess with other people and just out of habit.
Rift is a very animated sort of person, getting a little loud and out of hand easily. Nothing spiteful in particular, his voice tone will just escalate. He doesn't usually notice this factor, however others seem to either find it amusing or annoying.
Rift also has a pension of getting tired at random intervals in the day, most of the time durring the mid-afternoon hours rather than the early morning around when most others are drowsy or tired.
