Bird related stuff:
There are millions of different birds out in the world, big and small, flying and flightless, but none have
quite gained Jerome's interest as much as the Weka bird, mostly known as the Woodhen or the Maori hen.
Weka are sturdy little brown flightless birds, they usually live around sand dunes, forests, grasslands, and
sometimes around the ocean shores, and though their breeding season varies, the parents of the nests will
alternate throughout incubating the nests. These birds are omnivores, as they feed on insects, small mammals,
and plants. Some examples to use within the diet could be smaller birds, mice / rats, earthworms, grass grubs,
grass, berries, and varying types of seeds. Jerome loves to watch these little chicken sized birds, whether it
be watching their sleep or taking care of young, sometimes even eating. He's known to keep a Weka bird as a
pet at all times, and when they grow old in age and pass from this life, he buries them in a little place behind
his home, which is by now covered in little graves with tons of different names carved into the stone, each one
of his beloved Weka birds. His current one's name is Twinkie, a little female, who he has cared for and loved since
he found her hatching. More to the point of looks, from Jerome's view, the Weka birds are like little brown silky
textured chickens. Twinkie is a softer brown than most, her feathers tinged with black and grey markings, and her
little feet a pinkish orange. The Weka birds do indeed have wings, though they are very small in size, and cannot
be used for flying by the birds.
