Name;;
Alma
A very pretty name name that finds its roots in the Latin word almus,
meaning 'kind' or 'nurturing.' She takes her name very seriously.
Gender;;
Female
Bird related stuff;;
When Alma awoke, the sky was still dark. Perhaps a bit blue, suggesting the coming dawn, but only a trained eye would have noticed the difference. She was already wide awake, however, and immediately set to warming up a bowl of water; there would be no tarrying this morning, not so long as she had a job to do.
While the water warmed on the stove, she tiptoed up to her glass aquarium where it stood against a curtainless window. No fish here – instead there was little brown chick, a thrasher, perhaps. Her babies all looked so similar when they were small. It was peaceful now, sleeping like a little darling, but the moment the sun peeked through the window it would be hollering for food.
She could hear the sound of rising steam coming from her kitchen, and not wishing to warm the water up too much, she snuck away. By the time she had mixed up the chick’s formula – a special blend of warm water, dry cat food, and bird vitamins – it would be awake and hungry. She’d let the cat food soak a bit, mix in the vitamins, and turn it into a mash. An odd meal, perhaps, but just as effective as any expensive formula would be. It was all about packing in the protein this baby would need to become a plump and successful flier come fall – and fall was coming fast.
Already her little chick was looking less like a helpless hatchling and more like the bird it would be, the wax on its feathers sloughing away with each preening and its interest in the formula weakening as it began to discover bird seed. She could take it outside now and let it feel the breeze and the sun… Occasionally it would flap its wings, getting ready for its first flight. Soon enough, her little bird would be flying. Soon enough, it would seek out the company of those of its kind, and when the weather grew cold, her little bird would leave.
She would be lonely throughout the winter. It would be a break from the stress and worrying that came with raising her birds, but until the spring returned with her dear little ones, she would have to figure out ways to cope.
But oh, when the warm rays of spring did come, she would see them again. Little hatchlings of previous years still made a habit of returning to her feeders with their new families, and she would put out seeds, berries, and nuts for them. If she was still, they would come to perch on her shoulders and head the way they had when they were young. How proud she would be, to see them with their mates and babies – her grandbirds, if you would. Spring was a time to remember why she let her babies face their personal dangers; they needed to live wild and free, where they belonged and with whom they belonged.
Behind her, the chick squawked.

Sydney

Bird related stuff: [Word limit 500 words OR 1 art piece and 50 words caption]
Sydney was born and raised in Australia. She lived in a secluded part of the jungle where the wildlife thrived. Sydney was fond of all the wild life but the tropical birds held a special place in her heart. She tried to climb to the top of trees to see the nests, feathers, chicks, any signs that there were birds living there.
Sydney lived by herself for for than 5-6 years, but it had never bothered her.
One day while walking down one of her usual bird watching paths she discovered something small and round in the path. She sprinted towards the small shape. Sydney got closer and let out a gasp. It was a birds egg. All alone... Sydney couldn't just leave it alone in the middle of the jungle. She carefully clutched the small egg in her hand, and stuck it in her pouch. For weeks she would observe, and incubate it seeing if it would hatch. after a couple of weeks Sydney started to loose hope. An egg would have usually hatched by now...
She pulled the egg out of her pouch, and left it in a garden near her front door. Sydney had assumed the worst. Just as she was about to go back inside she heard small cracking noises. she fallowed the sound and discovered that her egg was hatching. She hurried it inside to watch it hatch. After many hours Sydney's bird had hatched. The bird was small and pink, and very awkward looking, but Sydney didn't care...
After many weeks this small lump turned into a bright, black and white striped Crested Shrike tit. Sidney named the bird Harley for his punk look. Harley considers Sydney his mother, and he refuses to leave her side....

So I had a story written, and I was looking thru other forms, and there is some really nice art. I don't have a chance, plus a few other people had the same idea for a name, and I couldn't think of another one, sooooo good luck to everyone but I'm dropping out.

Name:
Victoria, Tori for short
Gender:
Female
Bird related stuff:
As a child, Victoria had a flock of about 50 pigeons. Every morning they would fly away but every night they would return, all 50 of them. Tori used to worry that they wouldn't return one night, but after having them for a while, she knew they would always come back. However, one night they didn't come home. That night when she went looking for them as she did every night, they were nowhere to be found. She was heartbroken and sat down in their coop and started to cry. She cried for 30 minutes before she heard a swishy sound paired along with several tweets. She looked up and even though her vision blurred from crying, she could see a group of birds. She gasped, leaped up, and started bouncing up and down. Her pigeons surrounded her and playfully pecked at her fluffy tail.

Why do you wish to know that?.. Alright, find, if you really insist on hearing it. My favorite memory of a bird wasn't that long ago actually. It only took place around.. 2 years ago, which was when I took a trip out to the Sunrise Coast, in Maine to watch the migrating birds. I usually go every year to watch the birds migrate, since it is such a beautiful scene to see all the large flocks of birds. I remember that it was early september when I went, which for me, is the best time to go to see them. I was with one of my friends who was also very much into birds, like me. We were at the Quoddy State Park watching them, when a bird that wasn't with one of the flocks came down to me. It was a blue Tit bird, and it appeared smaller than the others. I was very hesitant at first with it approaching me, since the last bird that I had flew away due to the fact of it's cage being left open whilst I was gone. It truthfully surprised me at how friendly the bird was, since normally birds are quite skittish. It sat itself comfortable on the top of my tail, as if it were it's nest. I remember instantly getting a connection with the small thing, as if I had already knew it or had it for a while. The bird went everywhere with me while I was on my trip. I did end up taking it home with me, where it became my pet. I named it Chi, since I felt like the name fit the bird's markings and personality. Chi now usually just sits on my shoulder and stays with me wherever I go, so he is basically my best friend, and I don't know what I'd do without him at my side.

I'm Airplane c:
Helios.
'Helios' is the latin word for 'sun'.
His red and golden colors made me
think of a summertime sunset.
Male, plain and simple
Helios moved to the US from
France a few months ago, to live with
his cousin. When he first got there, the
first bird he saw was a Cardinal in her backyard.
Now, whenever he sees a Cardinal, he thinks
of the day he first arrived in America.
