Name:: Maori -- I can't really see him as anything else. You picked out a beautiful name and I honestly think it fits him the best! I love fact that it sounds exotic, much like his colors and (hopefully) personality.
Nicknames:: Mao -- Mao is just a short version of his name that everyone calls him by. He rarely uses his full name (You all know how teenage boys are) and chooses to call himself 'Mao' instead. When someone calls him Maori, it's because he's somewhere formal or he's introducing himself.
Gender:: Male -- I can't see him as female at all, in my opinion. He defiantly has a male air even if the colors are all, well, colorful.
Age: In his mid-teens, age is not quite known since he never really needed to know. He's relied on the wind and sun, not his age. When he dies, he'll die, it's no something that he should worry about at the moment.
Species: Makoatl
Sexuality:: Bi (Maybe asexual). He hadn't really been attracted to anything other than adventure--he doesn't want to 'settle down' and have a family (though this might change) all he wants to do is sail and life his life to the fullest, without regrets.
Why do I want him?
These 'why do I want him' things are clique, yeah, I know cx, but honestly I don't think I've ever felt such a connection towards a mako before. Don't get me wrong, I own one mako and love her more than anything else, but I did get her on a whim. I don't regret it at all, actually. She's defiantly one of my favorite characters and I'm super glad that I got her. This boy however, just clicked. One glance, and I knew I had to try out. His design is amazing; absolutely fantastic and everything about him is completely and utterly perfect.Even if I don't win, I'd just be super happy to be able to try out for such a perfect mako <3
If I won (I'd probably pass out from happiness xD) I'd defiantly love him. Not like, oh, yeah I love him love him, but like flaunt him all over the place kind of love him. Doodle him everywhere (shhh Its not like I haven't doodled him everywhere yet) and roleplay and just love him.
Personality::
Maori is as energetic as his colors may seem. He loves to be around everyone, make friends with everything and just be alive. He's almost always happy, and always there when you need him (And there when you don't). He does have a problem with getting in other people's faces, but a whack in the muzzle will calm him down.
He's incredibly gullible, falling for almost every lie, but has an incredibly good judge of character and won't let just anyone be his friend. Mao can seem stupid and naive, but he's actually ever smart and can put of a good facade. He can't lie to save his life, but he can hide his feeling behind a mask and no one would ever know otherwise.
Though, he does have a dark side, just as his base coat. He's rarely angry, but there are times when his nakama are threatened and he'll snap. Mao is incredibly dangerous and reckless when he snaps, often lashing out at everyone and everything. It's like something inside of him breaks, and he somewhat loses his mind so to speak. Eventually, after he wears himself down, he'll come back and not remember anything about the incident, just going around happily like it was just another normal day.
Mao is strong; very strong in fact. He trains his body and his mind so he won't lose anyone. He trains every day, not matter how tried, hurt or sluggish he is, often lifting the heaviest things he can find or just swimming as fast as he can for hours. He's tried afterwards, but never shows it. Instead, he chooses just to bounce around and laugh, making everyone think that nothing is wrong.
Maori is also narcoleptic and will often fall asleep at random times, that being in a middle of a converstation or while he's eating. It's also happened while he was spying on the local fishing market--let's just say that did not end well. Mao can't control when he'll have an attack, so it might be at any time. A lot of the time, strangers will think he 'died' because he'll suddenly fall asleep in the middle of a conversation. His friends know better and don't usually react when he has an attack. They enjoy watching people's reactions whenever he has an attack.
Mao hates being alone. 'Being alone is worse than being hurt'. Maori can't stand being alone, especially when it means that someone died. He thrives off of physical affection, so when no one is there to provide it for him, he often goes into a shell and won't eat or sleep until some one comes along and helps him.
Mao is extremely protective and possessive, though he doesn't notice.It's not like he limits his friends abilities to do things (Quite the opposite in fact) ti's just that he doesn't want anyone that he doesn't like touching or harassing his nakama. He tends to overreact, though sometimes he'll just let his friends handle it.

Accessories::
He wears a simple necklace (boys wear necklaces too!) with a clam on it. The clam is alive and can often serve as a companion for Mao. He also has two piercings on his left ears that he forgot who gave them to him, but still feels like they are important.
Disorders::
Mao has both ADHD, ADD and he's narcoleptic making it impossible to focus on more than one task. His attention is constantly moving around and no one can get him to sit still for more than a few minutes at most. He's constantly doing things with his paws or he's talking everyone's ears off. He's got a severe case of narcolepsy, where he falls asleep at the wrong time and wrong place. He's fallen asleep while looking off of cliffs and climbing mountains. His friends are really the only reason that he hasn't died during one of his attacks.
Phobias:
Maori has the fear of loss. Loss of another person, loss of an object, loss of anything. He fears that one day he'll lose something and it won't come back. He also has a minor fear of an empty refrigerator.
Quirks::
Mao does have an . . . excessive attitude.He has an incredibly high metabolism and he does spend most of his time exploring the ocean, mountains, plains, you name it. He can't go anywhere without his 'bento' because a lot of the time, he'll get himself lost and won't show up for days.
Dreams;;
To have the most freedom in the world. It's simple in Mao's mind, really. If you become the strongest, you'll become the freest. He'll then be able to protect everything and not have to worry about his nakama being constantly in danger.
Games:: He can't pay attention long enough to learn how to play a game (this should immediately rule out board games in your head). He prefers 'learning as he's going' so to speak which often leads him to losing the first few rounds. hough, Luckily, Mao is a fast learner and can figure out patterns in a game relatively fast.
Theme song:: This is war by 30 Seconds to Mars.
Favorite song:: Remember when by Chris Wallace. He also enjoys the songs 'Stay' by the Hurts and 'You are' by Colton Dixon.
Inspirational Quotes::
"To true friendship, how long you've known each other means nothing."
"When the world shoves you around, you just gotta stand up and shove back. It's not like somebody's gonna save you if you start babbling excuses."
"Miracles only occur for those with the determination to never stop trying!"
“No one is born into this world to be alone”.
History:: Mao never knew his parents, or anyone for that matter. He's always been alone in his life, though, he always wondered why. At first, the loneliness didn't bother him at all, but then he start to develop a fear and left the safety of his forest for the comfort of another mako.
He found what he was looking for; two actually. They were a bit older than he was, and a whole lot stronger. Maori wanted to become their friends right away, but they were as accepting. Being alone for such a long time, Mao didn't realize just how mean the mako were to him. They'd throw rocks at him, push and shove him and glare at him every walking minute. But Mao just kept trying . . . and trying . . . and trying . . . and trying.
Eventually, after Mao was attacked by some humans, the boys started to warm up to him, telling him of their own pasts and why they didn't trust anyone. Mao didn't care about their pasts however, as he was simply happy for them to finally accept him. They became brothers from that point on, not related by blood, but by bond.
They grew up together, being orphans with no parents. The oldest was like Mao, he never knew his mom or dad and didn't seem to care much. The other boy was a runaway, saying that he was a doll to his parents and he was sick of it. He didn't want to be their perfect little child, so he ran.
The past came back to haunt them.
The father of the mako that ran away came back, recognizing his son. Later on, the man had separated the boys and took his son back, saying that he was his child and he had a right to do whatever he wanted to him. Mao and the other mako fought back as hard as they could, but were no match. So, in order to save his friend's lives, the runaway mako went with his dad saying, "If I go with you peacefully, you'l let them go and forget all about them." To which his father agreed.
Later on, Mao and his older brother heard the news that their missing brother was dead. They didn't know how or why and they didn't care. Both were devastated.
Right then and there, Mao made his only living brother promise that he wouldn't die.
And the oldest brother agreed.
They both set out on their own years later, seeking the freedom and adventure that they both craved.
Because you love me
Poke. “Mao.” Poke. “Mao, stop.” Poke. “MAORI!”
Maori let out a burst of laughter that he had been desperately trying to hold in. The other mako, Jas, glare at him, rubbing her cheek and muttering things about immature little kids and how much they annoy her.
Mao place his muzzle on her book, offering a cheeky grin as her left ear twitched. “What’cha doing?”
“Reading,” She snapped, taking her book in her jaws and yanking his head off. “That is, until you came along.” She stared into his eyes for a second before forcing herself away with a puff. “Honestly, don’t you have anyone else to bother?”
Mao hummed for a second, biting the inside of his cheek before he burst out in a wide grin. “Nope! They’re all doin’ stuff so I’d bother them.”
“Annd,” Jas raised an eyebrow, unable to understand what she was hearing. “What about me? Don’t you think you’re bothering me a bit?”
He giggled, his eyes shining with humor. “No~” He puffed out his furry cheeks. “’Cause you love me~”
“Come here you brat,” She said, opening her arms in a hug, forgetting her book for the time being. Mao happily bounced into her fuzzy embrace, laughing and hugging her back. “You’re lucky that I really do love you.”
And she did. Not as a boyfriend—but as a little brother—someone that she always had to look out for no matter what.
Just a little hungry
“Hungry~” Maori moaned, flopping out in the sand and looking up at Apis (A female mako with a talent for cooking) with big, wide eyes. “Apis, feed me!”
The mako just rolled her eyes, flicking her tail carelessly. “Get some fish.”
Mao pouted, sticking his bottom lip out. “Please? I don’t know how to cook!”
“So?” The larger female mako seemed unaffected. “Eat it raw them.”
He stuck out his tongue. “Too slimy.”
“Oh you big baby,” The female snapped, though she had this exasperated smile on her lips. “Fine, I’ll get you something. Just try not to eat anything on the beach, yeah? No matter how good it looks, it’s not going to taste great.” She frowned in thought. “Or be that healthy for you.”
Mao just grinned at her, offering his silent support.
Just like always.
