Username: SkySmoke
Name: Ayla – (pronounced Eye-lah) a common Turkish female name that means halo of light around the moon. It’s usually synonymous with moonlight, though it could also mean halo in general. The name may have its roots in old Persian where it means moonlight. I chose this name because I wanted something unique that had to do with stars and the sky, yet had ties with her parents’ names. I looked up Lactea’s name and found its part of the latin for milky way. I think Ayla is perfect; it starts with A for Abigail and has to do with stars and the sky, keeping in theme with Lactea.
5 Personality Traits: ☆ Self Confident
☆ Giving
☆ Outgoing
☆ Passionate
☆ Dreamer
☆☆Self Confident☆ – she has more confidence in her intelligence than she does in her physical abilities. She is not a dare devil if left to her own devices, but she will not back down from a challenge if it is presented to her. She loves to learn new things because she has no doubt that whatever she tries, if she works hard enough, she will be good at it. As she grows older this will mean that she will set high goals for herself because she knows she will accomplish them.
☆Giving☆ – she enjoys making other people happy and will go out of her way to do so for the people who are important to her. She often draws pictures and makes crafts as gifts for others. She also has a tendency to give her toys away to kids that don’t have any. When she gets older she will enjoy volunteer work. She will also accompany others places just for moral support, even if she doesn’t want to go. This trait sometimes makes it easy for her to be taken advantage of.
☆Outgoing☆ – She is not outgoing in the typical sense of the word. She doesn’t mind meeting new people, but it isn’t something she seeks out. What she really loves is going new places and learning new things. She is enthusiastically into any activity her parents will allow and has an extensive collection of brochures for summer camps she would love to attend. When she grows up this will develop into a love of travel. She is comfortable meeting new people where ever she goes and but does not seek to have a large group of friends.
☆Passionate☆– She is passionate both in what she does and her emotions. She gives 110% to anything she does and becomes very invested in it. This tends to make her a bit of a perfectionist and also a bit dramatic. She sometimes gets her feelings hurt easily just because things that may seem simple to some actually mean a lot to her. As she gets older her passion will be most expressed through a love of writing and music.
☆Dreamer☆ – both in the literal and figurative sense. She is very imaginative and loves to lie outside at night, gaze up at the stars and just let her imagination wander. She is very creative in her play and will often create elaborate plots and worlds and assign other people roles in them. Her brother is often the victim of her games. She dreams of being a lot of things when she gets older; what it is that she wants to be changes quite often though. As she gets older she will turn the elaborate game plots into stories that she writes down in hopes of maybe someday being a published author.

Sibling Rivalry“Hey Ayla, I bet I can climb higher in the tree than you can.”
“Ian, why do you always have to do stuff we aren’t supposed to do?”
“Are you scared?” He taunted as he ran towards the tree.
“No, I’m not scared, I’m just smarter than you and I know we can get hurt.” She was scared, but she would never admit it, especially not to her twin.
“You’re not smarter than me. You’re scared.”
“I am not.”
“Prove it.”
Ayla grumbled to herself as she headed towards the tree. She knew she shouldn’t climb it, but she couldn’t help herself when it came to her brother. She had to prove that she was just as good, if not better, than him in whatever he challenged her to do.
Ian was already up on one of the lower branches by the time Ayla got to the tree.
“Catch me if you can!” He called as he climbed. Ayla took a deep breath, jumped up into the tree and headed up into its branches. They each took different paths but kept an eye on the others progress. Ian moved faster than Ayla but she was never far behind him. It wasn’t long before they were about half way up the tree and started to run out of room to easily climb.
“I’m higher, and we can’t climb any farther, so I win!” Ian declared.
“Just because
you can’t climb any higher doesn’t mean I can’t!”
Ayla surveyed the branches around her and spied a branch that was just within her reach. She stretched and managed to just barely grab ahold of it. She pulled herself up and then triumphantly smiled down at Ian.
“I win!” She laughed, and then shrieked as the branch swayed and she lost her footing. Ayla wrapped her legs around the branch and started to cry.
“Ian! I want down.”
“I’ll get mommy, hang on!” He called and climbed down the tree as fast as he could; a few minutes later she heard both of her mother’s voices at the bottom of the tree.
“Ayla, are you ok?” Lactea called.
“Y-yes. But I can’t get down. I’m scared.”
“Yes you can.” Abigail said confidently. “You got up there, so you can get down. Just go slowly. We’re right here.”
Lactea encouraged her daughter as they all looked up the tree and waited. Ayla started slowly down, she took it one step at a time and before she knew it she was back down on the ground. She leaned against Abigail as both of her mothers hugged her.
“I’m sorry.” She sniffled, “I know we aren’t supposed to climb the tree.”
“Care to explain why you two were up there?” Lactea asked.
“Well…Ian said he could climb the tree higher than me, but I couldn’t let him win, so I climbed higher, but then the branch started to break and I thought I was going to fall and I got scared.”
“I think we need to talk about you guys always having to be better than each other.”
Abigail looked at both of her children sternly as she spoke.
“Ian, why do you always challenge your sister to do things that you know are dangerous?”
Ian poked at the ground with his toe as he answered.
“Because…she does all kinds of cool stuff that I’m not always good at. She draws and paints and she’s smart and knows all kinds of stuff. So…I want to beat her at some stuff.”
“And Ayla…why do you do the things he challenges you to? Even though you know you aren’t supposed to?”
“Because…he always says he’s better than I am at stuff. He’s faster, can climb better, and throw things farther. He’s not afraid of anything…and he knows I am, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do it.”
Abigail and Lactea smiled at each other, then at their children.
“Just because you are twins, doesn’t mean you are going to be able to do everything the other one does. Ayla, you are going to be really good at somethings that Ian isn’t. And Ian, you are going to be really good at some things that Ayla isn’t.”
Both kids scowled at her. Lactea continued where Abigail left off.
“You can be good at what you are good at without having to beat each other. You can teach each other instead. Ayla, you could paint with Ian sometimes and help him learn to paint. Ian, you could teach Ayla to play the sports you love. Doesn’t that sound like more fun than fighting all of the time to be better?”
Ian and Ayla looked at each other and then back and forth between their mothers. Ayla was the first to answer.
“It would be fun to have someone to paint with sometimes…”
“Yea…and if I taught you to play basketball you could play one on one with me…it would be more fun than shooting hoops by myself when my friends can’t play…”
“Great. Now why don’t you guys go inside and play…together…nicely.” Abigail suggested.
“Okay. Ian, do you want to come help me finish the picture I’m coloring?”
Abigail and Lactea smiled at their children as they headed into the house. Ian glanced at Ayla and winked.
“I bet I can beat you to the house!” He called as he took off running.
“Not if I tackle you first!” Ayla squealed as she jumped on his back, pinning him to the floor. She draped her arm over his head and ruffled his hair. He grabbed her other leg in his mouth and they laughed as they wrestled.
“What did we just say!” Abigail called out to them.
“We’re kidding!” Ian chuckled as he and Ayla stood up and started heading towards the house.
Abigail leaned against Lactea and shook her head, laughing.
“We’re in for some trouble with those two.”
“Oh yeah we are…think they’ll get along?”
“Oh, for a little bit. We’ll have to have that talk a lot I’m sure.”
Ian smirked as he nudged Ayla with his shoulder.
“Wait until we get inside. I bet I can beat you up the stairs.”
“Yeah right, we’ll see about that.”
