Name: Era - a large unit of time
Gender: Mare
Age: 4
Height: 13.2 hh
Personality: Era is not a very social equid; she keeps to herself. It's not that she'll snub or ignore other equids who try to approach her; but she's really happier listening and not talking, and those around her realize that eventually and leave her to her own devices. She is fascinated more by the world around her, what it has been and will be, than those who occupy it. She'll spend hours on quiet strolls through the forest, looking at everything around her and imagining fantastic stories about it. Era loves to create- anything and everything, but most of all stories. Stories are the way we remember the past, push through the present, and prepare for the future. Through stories is how we remember everything; loves lost and won, battles, danger and delights. All are passed on through the telling of tales, and though they may be exaggerated, this is how we remember our heroes and what they have done. Stories, to Era, are simply ... everything. She wants to be remembered. She dreams that one day, there will be a story about her, passed on and told, so she will never truly die. In the meantime, though, she carries on that that favor for everyone else. Era has an amazing memory, and every story she hears, she stores away carefully. She patrols the forest dutifully, finding any equids she can, and learning the stories they have to tell, and often passing on one of her own that she's heard from an earlier group. In this way, she passes on the tales and memories of many equids, and ensures that important history will be remembered and known by all.
Perhaps her strange obsession with the past is fueled by her strange home ... while many equids live higher up in the mountains, or in clearer places of the forest, Era makes her home in an abandoned temple. The crumbling stone and rich moss, the ancient runes and sound of quiet dripping water, all makes her feel content and truly at peace. She grew up there, and could never imagine leaving. Young foals will often visit the old temple, to catch a glimpse of the beautiful young storyteller as much as to see the ancient relic. Era doesn't mind the air of mystery it gives her, and sometimes enjoys the small bit of fame she holds. But her life, while enjoyable, is small and comfortable. Every day, she's out roaming the beautiful forests; she spends nights by the crystal thinking pool in her temple. Someday, she wants to do something
big. Something important and awe-striking, something that will never let her be forgotten, so she, too, will earn a place in the stories she passes around. The truth is, though, she's a bit afraid. She admires the brave equids in her many stories, but she isn't sure she could ever be like them. That idea scares her most of all though ... the idea of being inadequate, of getting her chance to be eternalized and messing it up, shakes her to the core. So every day, every morning, when she wakes up and watches the sunrise from the crumbling stairs of her temple, new light kissing the ancient stone, she makes a promise to herself. If an adventure comes her way, she will seize it. She will grab on tight and never let go. She will become what she's always dreamed ... a hero.
[oh gosh ... that turned out way longer than I intended. very sorry !! ;^; too much inspiration u-u;]
Art (2 Pieces Max):[I apologize that my art isn't very realistic. I tried for a sort of paper-cut-out style, as you might see in a storybook, because of her love of stories. I sort of imagine them as being part of a story about her, if that makes sense?]
