WME: Fallow deer (Mealy chestnut)

Postby .Ghost. » Sat Jan 18, 2014 3:28 am

Another deerquid!
Overall inspired by the pretty fallow deer. c:

To try for this girl you have to write a story about a strange dream she have had.
I'll pick the one I find most creative.

Story:
Glinka's eyes snapped open, the world around her was dark and farel. Shadows loomed over the strange giant fern plants a tall as trees. There was a chill to this place that stirred dread up within her gut. Glinka narrowed her eyes at this dreadful world, not knowing where she was or how she had gotten here, but the cold that set into her bones did not bring about fear like it might have done in anyone else, instead it brought amusement to life. This was a curious new world that needed to be discovered.

With the cold tongs of the shadows lapping over her shoulders Glinka took a few tentative steps forward. her hoof steps sounded so faint and dim in this place, in fact she felt tiny, like this world was giant and she was a mere ant clambering among the stems of grass. The soil beneath her hooves was a rust colour and above her head a crooked blue moon winked down at her. Why was this place so dark? off night time sounds would meet her ears only to be drummed away by the beating of her heart. their was a hiss from above and she looked up at the ferns.

The ferns had thick leaves that were a dark blueish color, the bottom side were covered in some sort of brown mass of movement. She stared long and hard at it but couldn't decipher what it might be. She took a step closer, straining her neck to get a better look at it. What had once been so distend and distorted by the dull light became clear, strange creatures were huddled together hanging upside down on the edges of the plump foliage. At that moment the mass exploded into a cloud of flapping paper wings. Thousands of giant moth like beasts leapt from there resting places and pored down on her. Buffeting her with their brown waxy wings.

Glinka shrieked and struck out with her front hooves, knocking one of the horrible creatures to the ground. It squealed, causing her to glance down at it. It had no face, no mouth or eyes or nose to give it any sort of defining features. She stepped back horrified by its ugliness. it had hands that resembled that of a human with sharp hocked claws. It's skinny pale body was clutched between its two mangled paper wings that had been torn by the force of her kick. More and more of these winged monsters forced themselves down at her, their claws snagged in her mane and tangling in her tail. she bucked wildly trying to free herself but they pulled her down. Claw dug into her shoulders and flank as the shadowy light of this worlds day was blotted out by hundreds of brown furry bodies.

She kicked striking solid forms but not loosening the grip that held her. There was a sudden nudge on her boulder and a voice "Glinka, Wake up" it called and the darkness was replaced the hollow swell of the moons pale light. She blinked, her mind was still laced with the chilling fog of the nightmare. A get familiar face stared down at her with a worried expression. She shuttered and sat up seeing that her bed nestled among the cattails and long reeds was a mess of broken stems and crushed seed heads. "You were kicking out in your sleep" her companion explained "were you dreaming?" Glinka felt her nerves beginning to relax and her heart slow, "yes, I was dreaming" she said softly and lay her head down once more. "It was just a dream" she murmured settling down to return to her sleep. thats

when she noticed a tiny drop of blood dribble down her shoulder. it was followed by other tiny beads of scarlet leaving tracks down her golden coat. her eyes found the source, a small finger length scratch arched over her shoulder like a sinister sneer. Glinka Shivered as memories of the dream played over her mind once more. "It was just a dream" she repeated in a soft whisper, closing her eyes to rest.

Equid's Name: Faline
Age: 2 years, 9 months {quite young}
Gender: Mare
Height: 14.1hh
Story: story about her eyes turning gold and everything therefore turning gold then her eyes turning other colors and the world sorta spazzing lol

The sensation of a light, airy touch forced the young filly's eyes open. Blowing out air to produce a small, amused snorting sound, she swished her tail- left, right, then left again, as always- before struggling to her feet. Opening her eyes further, she twisted her pale face upwards to find small, crescent-shaped willow leaves dusting her face. She giggled lightly and bobbed her head up and down, enjoying the thin branches running through her auburn mane. Faline walked slow out of the entangled branches, pausing only to blink her long lashes in surprise as a leaf smacked her eyes, like shiny little plums. She emerged onto a riverbank, which she thought was rather like a fantasy tale. Daintily placing one of her hooves on the surface of the water, she closed her eyes and listened to the soft burbling that was the rush of clear blue water over dull grey stone. She took a long breath in, then let it out, relaxing and withdrawing her small cream hoof onto steady, firm ground. After another long pause, Faline opened her eyes- and promptly started in surprise. Letting out a small, shrill whinny, she pinned her ears back and whipped her tail over the ground, leaning back, back, away from the river that had moments ago been a soft baby blue but was now very definitely a molten-yellow gold!
She closed her eyes again, for a few heartbeats, then opened them once more, blinking very rapidly. But...no, this was no mirage. The water was definitely not blue anymore, and the young mare wondered if it was still water at all. She moved away from it cautiously, reversing back into the thin, drooping branches of the willow tree. Faline's nostrils flared and she fought the urge to bolt as her gaze fixed a cluster of leaves near the tip of one branch. Yes, yes...not sage green at all but a pale, dusty gold! She paced for a minute, in circles around the large trunk, which also seemed several shades oranger than before. Eventually, she went back to the river. Terrified, she leaned over, and watched her reflection ripple and shimmer. Her mealy pelt was still the same, her creamy stripes and auburn mane- though all were tinted gold due to the water's strong color- but her eyes held no semblance to purple at all; in fact, they almost perfectly blended in with the water!
Bewildered, Faline jerked her head back and spun around until she was dizzy, for lack of another way to cope. Perhaps this was just....her mind searched frantically- a dream? She lay down, in the space between the willow tree and the river, closing her eyes firmly and not noticing at all the golden-orange grasses that reflected the sunbeams dancing in the sky. She hoped she would wake up, if indeed it were a dream, or that maybe everything would return to normal. But when she opened her eyes again....well, things looked different. Not gold, but not quite normal either. Everything seemed a bit....richer. And...bluer?
Faline panicked. No, no! she thought. I thought I was done with this! she raced over to the river, which had now turned an odd shade of blue-green. She raced back up to the willow tree- its leaves were much darker and bluer than before, and the trunk was suddenly swaddled in a deep pine green. The filly felt her heart speeding up as she realized this was out of control. She scrunched her eyes shut tight- knowing full well that they were a light teal shade- and spun again, When she opened them, she was facing an open plains, the one to the left of the river and the right of the willow tree. And, staring out at the grasses, she noticed their fuschia hue. The river was purple-tinged-pink, the leaves a dusty lavender...
Faline let out a terrified neigh, and suddenly collapsed to the ground- then jerked up. Her ears stood stiff and straight. Her breathing was loud in the quiet darkness of the forest she slept in. Slowly, it calmed, eased, until her breathing and heartbeat were slow and regular again. A dream, she told herself, shocked at the tendril of amusement coiling in her chest. It was just a dream.
And, in the cool blacks and dark greens of the forest, the young mare fell into a dreamless slumber.

Equid's Name: Fauna.
Age: 7 years.
Gender: Mare.
Height: 14.1hh.
Story: When Fauna fell asleep that night, she didn't know the dream would come. The storyline was as her mother once told her about: The great move to the new lands in the north. Her mother and elder brother had made the journey, in the belly of a mighty ship controlled by the ones Fauna would hopefully never meet; mankind. Ever since the mare had become aware of her dreams, she remembered the ships swaying. But how could she know of the ship and the darknesd and the scent of saltwater without yet being alive when the journey embarked? That will never be known, as it is almost impossible. Fauna awoke again early the next morning, the salty tang of sea water still fresh in her mouth. How could she dream of something she had never known? Inside the darkness, the smell of dozens of equids and fear was almost choking. Fauna felt her legs throb as she struggled to stand as the ship swayed this way and that. "Don't let go, little one. You must keep strong. This will end with time, and we will be home again." The voice was sweet, familiar. "I am so tired and hungry momma." Fauna whispered, but the voice wasn't her own. It was her brothers voice speaking now, again as it had throughout the years. She felt her mother nuzzle her brother, as if Fauna was inside of her brothers body. "I know my sweet son. I promise that we will make it." Fauna heard the trembling sound of crying in her mother's voice then, as she knew that her son surviving the dreaded voyage was slim. The young colt laid his head amongst the dirty straw by his mothers hooves, and closed his eyes. Fauna awoke from the dream, knowing all too well that that was the last words that her brother had spoken to their mother. She felt tears in her eyes at the pained feel in her stomach, and she lashed a hoof into the ground. She hated humans for what they did! She gave a long deep sigh, then went to go and visit her mother for the day as she had for the past seven years.

Equid's Name: Pompeii
Age: 3
Gender: Mare
Height: 14.1hh
Story: There is one dream that always sticks with Pompeii, no matter how hard she tries to forget. Was it an awful nightmare? Yes! The worst nightmare Pompeii would ever wish unto someone. It all began on a dark and stormy night, she was in a cave overhang with a few other WME's sheltered from the harsh wind and rain. It was musty in the little alcove, you could tell it hadn't been used in a long while. Then things got tense, someone shoved by her and left a smear of thick dark liquid along her flank.... mud. Oh how dirty! But wait, it gets worse. Just when she finally thought she was safe, another mare sneezed on her. Sneezed! Oh the calamity. At that point Pompeii woke up and whenever she thinks about the dream her skin crawls. As you can tell she might be a bit of a germaphobe.

Equid's Name: Regency(or just Jane)
Age: 4 years
Gender: Mare
Height: 14.1hh
Story:
Jane woke- or rather, thought she woke- in her forested home, but unlike her home as she knew it. For the sky and the trees and the stones and ground were frosted white- white as snow, white as the edelweiss flower she loved so much, and painted with streaks with the palest of golds. The rain that was falling was gold, too- liquid gold, and Jane laughed as it streamed through her autumn-hued fur. She shook her mane, and threw about glittering arcs of the magic, which cast rainbows on the alabaster scenery about her. Delighted, Jane danced, kicking at the wind-torn sky and tossing aureate sprays with her tail. All the world was pearly and gilt.
Suddenly, she felt the presence of another nearby. Smiling with rapture, Jane turned towards the mysterious other. He was an Equid, a stallion, and very tall, with the gold-and-white coat of the rain and milky forest around. The proud stallion smiled softly at Jane, and rose up as well, gilded hooves flashing. Jane reared to meet his valiant display, capering with him in the world of her dreams.
Much later, when Jane woke into the real world, the memory of the specter-dance would live with her always. Deep within her, she knew that the mysterious stallion with the pearl-and-gilt coat existed; he was out there, somewhere, and she would find him and dance again- this time for real.
