Story:
As I turned off the ignition of my ford, the sun was already setting behind the hills ahead of me. I step out gleefully and slam the door. I'd been called by a friend of mine alerting me to a draft horse for sale at a ranch that was going under. With my extreme adoration for drafts, I could not resist taking the stallion. I had been told he was a blood bay tovero of unknown heritage, so I was immidently drawn in with the prospect of adding some color to my farm.
I ambled down the dirt path in the direction of the stables. As I neared them, I saw a young boy leaning against the outside on his phone. It took a light throat-clearing for him to even notice me, but when he did he smiled a toothy grin. I smiled in return but he spoke first "You Izmayknee?" He barked with a southern twang. "Yes." I replied "Ismene, thats me." He nodded and began to skip away, "He's in there, Red Rover is his name. He's the only un left so ya shouldn't have toruble findin' him."
I smile wider and peek my head around the corner and through the door, at the end of a long hallway I saw a yellow halter hanging from a stall hook. I loped there a light speed, incredibly excited to see him. As I finally came to the door, I dug in my heels and slid to a stop. Clucking lightly I tapped on the door, "Red?" I said, reading the name plate. For a few moments it was silent, but then like the first strike of lightening in a thunder storm, a gigantic horse head popped through the viewer followed by a loud bang as he ran his entire hugeness against the door. I stumbled back and nearly fell flat on my behind, before I looking up into those big blue eyes, laughing. "I guess thats why they call you Red Rover!"
