Why does or doesn't she like her whiskers?:

When Sorrel was just a pup, she encountered her first catfish. She had been swimming upsidedown (she likes swimming upsidedown because what is familiar becomes new and unique from different angles) when she saw a strange fish. It had no scales, and it had whiskers, like her. She righted herself and swam up to it, pausing a few feet from it. She wondered what it was, as she had never seen such an odd creature, with features as odd as hers. Sorrel had tentatively reached to touch it, when all of the sudden it bit her paw! It didn't really hurt that badly, but it scared her so badly she did her absolute best to avoid them from then on. She now dislikes her whiskers, even if they help her sense her surroundings a little better, as they share similarities to the mean creature called a 'catfish'.

Why does or doesn't she like her whiskers?: She doesn't like her whiskers, and the reason is quite simple really. Gato, she has the tendency to seek affection and is a cuddler, or used to be at least. Whenever she would try to get close to another Mako, her long whiskers would start bothering them- whether that be tickling, poking, or even just touching, and even the rare case of just looking different than the others. Now other Makos shy away from her and it troubles her.

Well its a bit of a love hate relationship. Almost no Makos have whiskers which makes her an oddity which is both good and bad as she is unique but also singled out for them. They also help her in water by sensing the vibrations moving fish allowing her to dart in and nab them up and also keep her from going into spaces to small for her to fit due to knowing that if her whiskers cant fit though, nether can her shoulders. But when she pops out of the water and they are wet they feel heavy on her flews (under nose lip area where whiskers grow) causing them to droop down, not to mention its a pain to try to clean them if they get fish slime on them. And unlike what many would think her whiskers are sense orientated and not for defense like a cat fish, so instead of being good at stabbing things with them they are much better at feeling touch and vibrations. Pine has a so so opinion on this as both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Greta loves her whiskers! She likes to be different and her whiskers not only look cool, but are helpful. Greta likes to sleep in dark caves so her whiskers are essential to make sure she doesn't get stuck.

Why does or doesn't she like her whiskers?: Minkie claims to hate her whiskers but it's a bit of a 'don't know what you've got till it's gone' scenario. Minkie hates her whiskers as they seen to portray her as a feline; whereas she holds herself strongly to being only Mako and nothing else. They can become irksome but they're like someone who dislikes their freckles; They claim to hate them but know that they are almost a completely different person without them. Minkie can be quite the sly character though and uses her whiskers to her advantage in many ways, often stroking them softly in a hypnotic way. So Minkie does dislike her whiskers, but they are as much as her as her markings and she could not bear to lose them.

She does like them, because it makes her different and stand out from the rest. It makes her feel more different then others, and she enjoys it. On the other hand they get in the way sometimes, and some mistake her for a old man and it upsets the young feminine girl. But she wouldn't change her self for anybody. Shes happy with her whiskers and the way she looks.
